I just asked two of my German friends (couldn't really take them seriously dressed as ghosts) about him, said he was ok and must be desperate if he is willing to play at Leicester, one time vehicle for Stephen Freund.

I think it could be the players choice to be on trial to start with so he can see whether he like's the city / club / players / management / or even the English life style before he signs

And those occasions when he was playing in the Champions League? You were watching Bayern rather than one of the FOUR English teams in the same competition? It's not hard, but I find it pretty unlikely that anybody would have seen more than 1-2 matches he'd played in.

Is there extended highlights programmes on the Champions League too as well as full match coverage on ESPN/Setanta for Bundesliga. I'd say people have watched him more than most folk had of Carl Ikeme or Chris Weale before joining City.

He's will be very good for us if we sign him, but like others have said, he's a little error prone and won't be unbeatable. That said, the pressure of succeeding Oliver Kahn would be one of the most difficult prospects in the club game, he wouldn't face anything like that here...except of course trying to fulfil the expectations of LEICESTER CITY fans. We are massive after all.
Alf Bentley Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 I've consulted my German footballing mate about Rensing and he sounds a good acquisition, particularly on a free transfer (though high wages, I'd imagine). Apparently, the period when he failed to cement his place as Bayern No.1 coincided not only with having to replace Kahn after he retired with legendary status, but also with Klinsmann's turbulent stint as Bayern manager. When they went on a bad run, Rensing became one of the scapegoats, it seems. My mate reckons that Rensing would probably have been a reserve keeper in the German national squad, but for that misfortune.

Rensing has yet to find a new club since leaving Bayern over the summer after his contract with the German champions expired. The 26-year-old is to link up with the Foxes for training this week and manager Sven Goran Eriksson is keeping an open mind regarding a possible deal. "He is coming here. It is only on trial and nothing is decided yet," Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury. "A lot of agents are ringing to ask if their players can come on trial." Meanwhile, Eriksson also confirmed some players are set to leave the Walkers Stadium on loan deals. He added: "We are talking to two clubs regarding Tom Kennedy and maybe one or two others will go on loan."

StanSP Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 Apparently, after speaking to a German friend on another forum, he suffered at Bayern because he was being criticised and slaughtered by the German media for his performances and not being able to fill Oliver Kahn's shoes. And he has said he'd like to move abroad because he is fed up of the German media being on his back. And he is known to be pretty media shy and doesn't like to be centre of attention when it comes to media. To me that's a good thing I guess; if he stays out the media he can be focussed on the football etc

His problem is doing normal things or rather things that each goalkeeper should do, he isn't that great on corners and will likely punch the ball rather than grab it (at times with long range shots as well); he doesn't command the back 4 as well as he should and is a bit too arrogant imo. These are all things he can work on and fix though imo." From someone who appears to know his shit on another forum.
