This is a massive squad by any standards time for Sven to start chopping the dead wood.
Finnegan Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Take out the loanees and Crncic (who I'm guessing it'll be very cheap to let go of) and it's size is being drastically exaggerated, really. Just over twenty makes it a fairly average sized squad. Probably wouldn't cost us a shit load to release Lamey and Moreno, either, and I'm guessing they're not on the world's longest contracts? Vassell is only signed to the end of the year if I remember correctly, so if he's a flop he can go. Of the players in positions we're either urgently trying to improve or we've got overcrowding; Fryatt would be very easy to sell depending on our demands, I imagine we'd find a League One club that'd love Steve Howard if he'd be willing to drop down a level and the same goes for Oakley.

Ikeme & Lamey have nothing to offer so can go without problem for a start And then I'd suggest its a one in/one out transfer policy so everytime Sven wants to make a loan signing he has to loan one out, and sells one if he wants to sign one. We need to focus on our academy as a source of players and some of the money needs diverting to that and not just for training future members of the Thai national team

We need to focus on our academy as a source of players and some of the money needs diverting to that and not just for training future members of the Thai national team which came from giving 6 or 7 youth teamers squad numbers. The squad isn't actually all that big - more about average size. It can be strengthened by additions and there are a few we should look to shed but that doesn't mean every transfer in should be matched with one out.

Depending on who comes in, in january, we could be doing the same in January! The squad isnt big right now but i expect it to be be the time Sven has finished his wealing and dealing!
