YES.

Drunken bar brawls about spilling a bloke's pint are a way of channelling aggression in a microcosmic way as opposed to letting them al boil over into a big war and getting all genocidal.

The CEO of Stella Artois should get a Nobel Peace Prize really.

lol

Then have it taken off them immediately for all the domestic violence it causes.

Don't try and defend your argument by subtly changing what I said, which didn't even mention "Royal residences" . Warwick Castle, is a massive tourist venue that has longstanding royal connections but is not a royal residence. Caernarvon Castle, Hampton Court, the Tower of London, Edinburgh Castle are the same and there is massive royal connection relating to Westminister Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, York Minster, Canterbury Cathedral and so on. You really would try to convince yourself of anything. I've visited Belgium and Holland once my life as a tourist. Says it all really and exactly confirms the validity of my argument

.

I don't even think you had an argument, to me you were just pandering that eternal royalist myth that they are responsible for the majority of this countries tourist revenue. If you didn't like my previous example then why don't you check out VisitBritain's poll of over 26,000 people coming into this country on holiday as to why they were visiting the UK, guess what, the royal family was so insignificant in the results that it could barely be listed. If the country were to have no monarchy and residences open 24/7 to tourists, we'd make a shit ton more than we do now.

Plus the buildings you listed have a million and one connections to other events in our countries history...of course the main ones being RELIGION and CONQUEST would you believe  A lot of our favourite tourist destinations also have huge links to the civil war (in which the Royal family declared war on its own people and was ALMOST completely destroyed, a mistake the French would not make in later years) So why don't we celebrate the sacrifices our ancestors made in overthrowing Royalist tyranny and settling the ball rolling for democracy and majority rule? Or would that be a bit taboo?

:crylaugh: Just because you were not able to raise a single decent point, you resort to being a clapping seal. Comical. :giggle:

WTF BBQ - Equating the UVF (scum) to the Royalty is particularly apt - both are useless, xenophobic, a drain on public resources and anachronistic.

At least the royalty aren't a bunch of drug dealing mafioso wannabe fucks.

No lovefest to the UVF was intended.. Just linking "Prussian Glory" to our Germanic Monarchy and racial roots.

Maybe this one is more apt ? Great tune...

i've always wondered: are Fox1651 and Carlito's Way the same person?

I agree with empty, **** the pro's. Stop forcing the wedding on us, couldn't stand all the union flags flying on friday - so tempted to fly a pirate flag to balance it out a bit. Also there was **** all good on TV all day.

No Fox1651 and Carlito's Way are different people, but we are close

There's not a chance in hell that 2 billion people watched this wedding. It's a very silly thing to believe, but they planted the seed and people lapped it up.

Royal Wedding Unites The World In Mathematical Lunacy

And the arguement that the wedding brings in money from tourism doesn't wash as a reason for us feeling alright about paying the £20million (or so) for the wedding. If the royals paid for their own wedding the tourism money would still have came rolling in, so us taxpayers are still £20million down and I'd rather have that cash spent on something useful thanks!

They must larf their paps off at the British public sometimes, but some folk have their tongues so far up their asses they never bother about these things.

The only sovereignty these people have is all in your minds and the whole thing astounds me.

It would be interesting to do some proper number crunching on this, because;

  • Of this £20 million, a fair proportion of it will be spent through English businesses - who in turn will refund a proportion in corporation tax, VAT etc.
  • A further proportion would be spent through public services, like the police who will in turn refund a proportion in income tax, NIS,
  • Of those employees, they will no doubt spend some of there earnings, recouping the goverment further VAT / Corporation Tax etc,
  • With visably 100,000 at least lining the streats, a conservative estimate of suggest each spent around £100 a head would mean a total income of £10,000,000 to businesses in and around London.

And lets face it, £20 mil these days is hardy a drop in the Ocean for the public purse. As much as I respect your view El, I think this is the wrong one to chase - the Dome and the Olympics are much more valid as 'wastes' of public money debates than this one. I bet the goverment spends just as much on Kitkats for the MP's tea parties over the year!

would be intresting to know how much was spent on the failed world cup bid too...
