SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 One of my favorite youtube videos involves Beirut. That take is unreal.... It was that video that got me interested in Beirut, so relaxing listening to them.
The Doctor Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 One for Gen. Smuts - Muse back in the studio as of next month according to an interview with radio 1 last week.
MC Prussian Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 A little Sarf Afrikaan flavour with Fool's Gold's new album, Leave No Trace: Very relaxing and uplifting at the same time. Celebrate!
James. Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 With Samilktray and Jay in particular in mind: Shabazz Palaces. I'm guessing you've heard of them? Album Black Up is quality. Their videos aren't bad either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMZKPaSF0GE
Joe. Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Got hold of the album a month or two ago, definitely something different.
lcfcadam Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 A little Sarf Afrikaan flavour with Fool's Gold's new album, Leave No Trace: Very relaxing and uplifting at the same time. Celebrate! Good good! Fool's Gold are phenomenal live as well...
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 my favourite album of the year so far First time i've heard of him and i must say i'm impressed
Part Of The Crowd Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 Opeth's new album is absolutely gorgeous. Very soft, quite jazzy. The song Folklore is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
MC Prussian Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 I'm a bit underwhelmed by the new Neon Indian album, but maybe it'll grow on me with time. Blitzen Trapper's newest output should be a cracker, though:
skinnydipper Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 First time i've heard of him and i must say i'm impressed Glad you like it Roo
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 I'm a bit underwhelmed by the new Neon Indian album, but maybe it'll grow on me with time. I only started checking them out after googling who Alan Palomo was from hearing him on the Miami Horror album. Not a bad follow up from there previous album but it's a slightly different style i reckon.
Rocket-Ron Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Sigur Ros Live... Includes free download
MC Prussian Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 A bit of Beatles-esque rock, Canadian-style: Reminds me of Brendan Benson. Which is a good thing.
StanSP Posted 29 September 2011 Author Posted 29 September 2011 Anyone else heard of Cut Copy? Been around for ages. Australian electronic band.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Anyone else heard of Cut Copy? Been around for ages. Australian electronic band. If they haven't heard of CC they must of had there head in the sand for a few years.
StanSP Posted 29 September 2011 Author Posted 29 September 2011 Well my head's been in the sand for years then! I got recommended to listen to them by a mate a couple of weeks ago. Been somewhat hooked since then, really.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Check out In Ghost Colours it's better than Zonoscope i reckon. Also check out the Presets and a band i'm seeing in a few weeks Art Vs. Science the 3 of them have dominated the Aussie Elctro scene the last few years.
StanSP Posted 30 September 2011 Author Posted 30 September 2011 Got that. I actually prefer it to Zonoscope, too. Still need to get their debut album though. I'll have a listen to the other 2 bands
James. Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 For a band that produced an album as polished and uplifting as In Ghost Colors they are probably one of the most joyless live acts I've seen. Absolutely zero charisma. Such a shame as that album is gold. Have been caning the Photek EP recently (Aviator). Nice new direction for one of the dnb legends.
Mark Posted 8 October 2011 Posted 8 October 2011 Apparat - The Devil's Walk is the best music I've heard all year. A very Radio-esque song off the album.
StanSP Posted 8 October 2011 Author Posted 8 October 2011 Ivyrise. Met them outside the Kids in Glass Houses gig on Tuesday, as well as Johnny Get The Gun and The Famous Class. May not be to everybody's taste I can understand, but Ivyrise are a band worth checking out
