CosbehFox Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 That's Where You're Wrong. Stone Roses anyone....possibly even a guitar riff off the La's too. I like the end of the album....it's emo for indie listeners.
lcfcadam Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Blimey, really? Sound of your generation? Well people could try and suggest to me that Jack White and Jimi Hendrix are not the two greatest electric guitarists of all time, but I'd just chuckle. And actually when I say The White Stripes I mean more specifically Seven Nation Army - that song on its own is more than enough to be the absolute track of a generation in my humble opinion... But I suppose opinion is all it is. I'm just glad to see that Caribou is happening in a really brilliant way
lcfcadam Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Blimey, really? Sound of your generation? Also it's probably worth mentioning that my generation is basically me and no-one else...
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Sounds like someones been listening to a lot of nick drake, which can never be a bad thing. No idea who Nick Drake is but i might give him a listen, any suggestions of tunes?
Joe. Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 New Ed Sheeran vinyl looks beautiful, but balls to paying £10.50 for that and a cloth bag. Just bought the single pack instead.
hairy Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 World Unite / Lucifer Youth Foundation (WU LYF) Click on Heavy Play Cant stop listening to it. Cant believed I missed them at the Y last week
vandamman Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 WU LYF - Loving this band at the moment and their annonymity.
MC Prussian Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 I wish they'd stayed a bit more anonymous Even I know about them now. Shocking! Back on topic, I just heard about Vetiver's new album, "The Errant Charm": Very soothing and relaxing.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 I'm still not sure on Suck It and See either, Jay. I can appreciate their move to a different sound (Humbug onwards), I'm just not a huge fan. I hate myself for saying that, because I loved all the EPs and the first two records but I'm really just not 'getting it' at the minute. One or two standout tracks amongst a bland bunch. After seeing them in Sheffield last Friday, I've got a new appreciation for Suck It & See. Up there with the first two records for me, some fantastic songs on there.
lcfcadam Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 I wish they'd stayed a bit more anonymous Why? As long as the music still sounds good then I couldn't care less if they become a bit better known. Christ, it's a huge moment of excitement every time I realise one of my mates has actually heard something decent at all, even if it was just in an advert or something!
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 I meant to the extent where they hadn't put any music out if ya get me....
The Doctor Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Kaiser Chiefs back, rather strange new album - they've recorded 20 songs, put them up on their website and then you can take 10 of them to make your own bespoke album. they're now releasing a physical copy of the album at the end of the month. In other news the killers are back in the studio as, apparantly, are bloc party. edit: American prog-metallers Mastodon are also recording a new album - entitled The Hunter.
MC Prussian Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 A revelation - two young dudes from the Takeover UK form a new band and I LOVE the output: 1,2,3 - New Heaven
Samilktray Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Mash up mixtape of Drake and James Blake. Very nice stuff Download here
purpleronnie Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 I meant to the extent where they hadn't put any music out if ya get me.... I dig them, at least they have something to say unlike 99.9% of bands ATM.
purpleronnie Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Listening to erland and the carnival - album of the year for me so far.
Joe. Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Finally got round to listening to Wu Lyf, and it's safe to safe they're basically just a mysterious Modest Mouse. Not worthy of the hype in my opinion.
AjcW Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Mash up mixtape of Drake and James Blake. Very nice stuff Download here I might be being blind mate but when you follow the download links the only download buttons I can see are those annoying green ones(the virus ones) and ones you have to pay for... any other links? I have listened to it already but fancy a download.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 Should be able to get it here fella http://www.futurebombe.com/james-drake.html

Jay Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 City & Colour - Little Hell Dallas Green has done it again, what a stunning effort. Yeah it's a good album although a little on the suicide side of depressing though!! The debut SBTRKT album is doing it for me at the minute
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 City & Colour - Little Hell Dallas Green has done it again, what a stunning effort. Loving it - good choice!! Fragile Bird is outstanding - probably because its the rockiest of all songs.
