Cobbo Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 First home game in the 91/92 season vs Tranmere with Rooster Russell scoring a 92nd minute winner in a 1-0 win First away excluding Wembley was at Anfield in '99 with Ian Marshall outpacing Jamie Carragher for a 89th minute winner...in a 1-0 victory
Head Honcho Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Wolves in 69/70 season, although I went to an away friendly thanks to a family friend who played for Notts County at the time (David Needham) around 1968. First away was a 4-1 defeat by Watford late 70's early 80's
Pegosteve Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I think John Farrington got the winner And he was class!
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I remember my first game because it was the only game my dad ever took me to, I remember walking up the steps into the old main stand (before the carling stand) and hearing the amazing atmosphere of a football crowd for the first time, never experienced anything like that before. I was 12 and as a kid always wrote down the details of the game in a exercise book (I didnt get out much) and I still have that book. The date was 13th October 1979 Division 2 vs West Ham with City losing 2-1 Attendance 22472 Manager Jock Wallace City lined up- Wallington Williams Rofe Peake May Welsh Byrne Henderson Young Wilson B Smith Sub Lineker City scorer Tommy Williams No details of the Hammers line up but guessing it was the usual Bonds Lampard Brooking Devonshire team, they were a good side at the time. Like all old memories I feel happiness tinged with some sadness, nostalgia is a strange thing, Jock Wallace Bobby Smith and of course Filbo all gone now.

North-LondonFox Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 actually it would have been better had we lost 7-2 , and then i would probably have never gone again and would have saved myself much grief You wouldn't change it for anything!

Daggers Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I haven't got a clue what happened in my first game. Late-70s against Birmingham and fighting kicked off all around us apparently. Reckon I must've had my face thrust into a bag of pick-and-mix or some salt'n'shake.

Finnegan Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Bilo isn't up Daggers' arse. Last time he looked back it was the other way around.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Bilo isn't up Daggers' arse. Last time he looked back it was the other way around. That does not conjure up any image that is remotely pleasant.
Daggers Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 That does not conjure up any image that is remotely pleasant. It doesn't have to be about the image if it feels so right. But you're too old - someone hold Walkers down and someone else pass me the lube. I hope I don't split him.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 My Mum took me to my first match when I was about 5 or 6 (1983ish). All i remember is that the pitch looked like a beautiful green carpet & we were playing against a team in white. The first match I went to with my mates was Bristol City at home. Brian Little had just taken over, Kevin Poole was my new hero & Gary Mills scored one of the best goals I've had the pleasure to witness. Sure it wasn't Colin Gibson? He scored a screamer in that game early 91/92 season, Paul Fitzpatrick got the other.

Fosse Boy Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I cannot actually remember my first game. I did used to get taken to Filbert Street but I can't remember it too well. A game I can remember though (and perhaps my earliest memory) was Sunderland away - 11th September 1999. Me and my dad were sat right next to the Sunderland fans and I can remember them singing and all that. I always remember because for some reason I thought that we were sat next to the tunnel. Anyway, the game ended 2-0 to Sunderland and Paul Butler scored the goals I think. I always look at that particular program from my collection. It has Neil Lennon on the front with a couple of Sunderland players (can't remember without looking). Always look at the teams, with Sunderland having the likes of Chris Makin. In a football ground?! our 4-1 win over denis wise' milwall, remember the crowd singing 'denis denis whats the score?' That's one game that sticks in my mind for some reason. I was in the away fans end coz they banned Milllllllllll and gave out tickets on the cheap to local schools. Claridge put them up after about 30 seconds to stun the ground to silence. Was dead weird. Dickov got a brace as I recall, lovely turn for the second. First time I heard my dad swear at the football, he gave me the look that said "it's OK son", and we both sang "Dennis Wise, what a willy puller" to our hearts' content.
JmorsonLCFC Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Leicester V arsenal reserves 2002, lost 2-0, kanu and lauren got the goals!
Earlydoorsjones Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 The memories I have of my first live football game will stay with me to my dying day. It was some time in the mid 80's. It was a Saturday, but it must have been towards the winter months because it was getting a bit dark and dismal as the kick off arrived. The thing that struck me was that there were turn stiles in between some houses. I thought that was great. My dad had not been to the ground since the 60's or 70's, so we did a tour of each stand in order to find the family enclosure in the North Stand. And even though we were not in the pens, I really could feel the aggression and atmosphere that was all around the ground. It was loud - I think the loudest thing I had ever heard up to that point was "come on Leicester". (Our new ground has never come close to creating the character or atmosphere of Filbert Street for me, but I suppose we live in different times). I knew that there were people at the game that would cause a fight given any chance. I was not concerned about my safety, because we were on the same side, and I am sure I had a blue scarf on. I think the opposition may have been Oxford United (remember them???). I remember watching a player that really stood out and asked my dad who it was. Gary McAllister was the first player to make an impression on me, although a cousin of mine said Alan Smith was better. I am still willing to argue about this issue today. Some time afterwards, this same cousin asked me if the game was any good. I think I told him it was a draw (well, whatever I told him) he said "never mind". I remember thinking, "You absolute fool, you mean to tell me that the score has anything to do with the enjoyment of the game!" "Twat, your shit - aahhrr!" is absolute poetry, and something I will never get bored of. P.S. I still do not think we have found a suitable like for like replacement for McAllister, although Izzet was pretty good on his day. Mark Draper was more in the mould of McAllister, but he was nothing more than a rat leaving a sinking ship. Had he have stayed and not gone to the Villa...who knows??? Actually no, he still wouldn't have been as good as McAllister.
Karljohn Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 First game for me was WBA at Home, lost 2-0, January 10th 1981 - I think I was sat in the east stand with me dad and I think Regis scored one of them. 3rd game was most memorable, a 0-0 draw with Burnley to clinch 3rd spot and promotion 82/83, Filbert St was packed with nearly 30000 inside, and Dad and I were locked out, about 15 minutes in we were heading back when a bloke stopped us, and said looking for tickets? ....before I knew it we were in the double decker, I remember him taking a pound note from dads wallet for a pint, he wasn't a tout, just someone who had 2 spares and was kind enough. Amazing day as I went in via the old main stand offices etc, and near pitchside at one point. Celebrations at the end will live long in the memory.
Jakemoore Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 My first ever game was at the Walkers stadium in it's first season, I was only 9, it was against Grimsby we won 2-1 to go through to the fourth round of the cup. My first away game wasn't so brilliant, i live in London so the chance to watch Leicester play Areanal at Highbury on new years day in the primer leagues was too hard to resist. It was the next season, under Micky Adams, we were relegated that season. And on that day we lost 6-1 to the eventual Premier league champions. I'm so glad I didn't do the easy thing and become an Arsenal fan or a Chelsea fan, I may be the only Leicester fan at my College but nothing would change my loyalties. I'll be at Vickerage road on the 4th of December, to see us stuff Watford hopefully. I love you Leicester!!! colbo68 Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Well to be honest I support Villa slighty more than I do Leicester yet I go to more Leicester matches than I do Villa because of the cost & I see my local side Nuneaton Borough a lot. Anyway I've been supporting Leicester for about 10 years now my first game was 3-0 against Bristol City in fa cup at good old Filbert Street I remember Bristol City wearing green for some strange reason. I remember sitting in the filbert street end. My first away was Coventry in 2003 when we beat them 2-1 my only to visit to Highfield Road. First game I saw was when we beat Liverpool at home and Andy Peake scored the goal of the season - was in the main stand and we went mental... cant think of the year for the life of me xx

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 First game we lost 2 nil and and played the last 30 minutes with 9 men.
lou Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 Very sketchy but would have been 1978/79 season and we lost to Chelsea.... Thats about the total of my memory! I know I was 12 at the time
Huuuuuume Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 Leicester 0 - 3 Liverpool. Patrick Berger scored 2 I think on his debut. Circa 1996? Was sitting with 3 silly City-season-ticket-having-Liverpool fans. Noisy buggers.
