First Game memories

Grimsby at home, sometime in the early 90s.

Drew 1-1, missed their goal in the first min as some guy was getting to his seat. Only heard our equaliser in the last min as mum was making me leave.

Loved it though and never looked back.

Hmm it was not my first game but the one game that stands out for me, when I took my new girlfriend who was a cockney to Filbert street into the COP. Of course the chants of being a cockney from the COP resulted me being dragged out at half time, by the new girlfriend who is now is my wife. Having to watch the rest of the game in the pub!!

I cannot actually remember my first game. I did used to get taken to Filbert Street but I can't remember it too well.

A game I can remember though (and perhaps my earliest memory) was Sunderland away - 11th September 1999.

Me and my dad were sat right next to the Sunderland fans and I can remember them singing and all that. I always remember because for some reason I thought that we were sat next to the tunnel. Anyway, the game ended 2-0 to Sunderland and Paul Butler scored the goals I think.

I always look at that particular program from my collection. It has Neil Lennon on the front with a couple of Sunderland players (can't remember without looking). Always look at the teams, with Sunderland having the likes of Chris Makin.

Watford, home, 1994.

4 - 4. Agnew on the program.

Edit: :o Just checked. I always thought this was '94, I'm actually a few days out. It was actually still the 27th of December and thus 93!

I remember that one for Gavin Ward jumping to catch a simple ball, stumbling back and realising he was going to carry the ball over the line so he dropped it on the line and fell backwards into the net, leaving a simple tap in for the Watford striker. It was possibly their 4th too.

Aston Villa at home near the end of the 1998/1999 season, it was just after we had lost at Wembley to spurs in the league cup final. My Dad brought me up well as we sat in lower tier of the double decker, and i remember how noisy it was. It was a typical Leicester performance under O'Neill-going 2-0 down before coming back to draw 2-2. My first & only game at Filbert Street unfortunately. I would have loved to been there for a few more games.

First away game was Derby away in 2006/2007 when we lost 1-0. Me & a few mates went up & loved the banter on the train between the two sets of fans. If i remember we had a goal disallowed in the last minute which i thought was harsh at the time & made the journey home horrible.

December 1967 v West Ham but we lost 4-2 I think, stood with my Dad in the standing area in front of the wing stand at Filbert St end. My Dad is a Leeds fan (probably why I hate them so much!) but at least he took me to see the City so have to be grateful I was not indoctrinated (at a time when they were building their great side)

We often stood in the away end at the front where City fans were allowed to stand before segregation, the atmosphere was always good and banter between the fans. Most memorable game in the early years was an FA Cup 4th Rd reply v Man City at Filbert St 1968, I think we were 3 nil down and came back to win 4 -3 39000 in the crowd and sure Frank Large scored a hat trick, great night.

I think John Farrington got the winner

One day, Walkers, you'll be able to post in this thread.

lol

Blackburn in 1996(?) at home for me. Very foggy. Think Marshall scored the equaliser and we drew 1-1.

99/00 1-3 home loss to West Ham, was only 10 and massive West Ham supporter was outside taking on all the Leicester fans outside, huge tat and bleeding, eventually police came. Will never forget that. Baptism to English football !!!!

Watched us draw 2-2 Vs Manchester United. Must have been 82/83 - still remember walkin along Saffron Lane from my Nan's bein so excited - I'll still feel the same when I go and see us against Watford in a couple of weeks!

Fook me!......bein a City fan that's grown up in North London, i'd give anything to see us turn that lot over 7-2!

actually it would have been better had we lost 7-2 , and then i would probably have never gone again and would have saved myself much grief :D
