Woodpecker Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 28/10/1978 : Leicester 0 v 0 Bristol Rovers - can't remember a thing about it but am now feeling very old!
benmeysner Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 First game I went to was foxes vs Athletico Madrid at filbert street in 1997 haha, 13 years ago wow : |. I was only 8 years old back then, Fortunatly I do not remember a 2-1 loss, it didnt happen as far as I'm concerned.
StanSP Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 First home game was a 1-1 draw against Newcastle. I think. I remember being fascinated by all the people who were sitting on window ledges or rooftops and watching the game over the smaller stands of Filbert Street. And I think not soon after that I had one of my more memorable moments in Filbert Street; standing up to moan at the ref or an opposing player (could have been Liverpool) and then going to sit back down, only to realise the seat had gone back up therefore me falling flat on my arse! First away game was Luton a few years back. Lost 2-0 on the opening day of the season.
evs_the_fox Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 Leicester 3 - 1 Barnsley, Filbert Street, Double Decker, back end of 91/92 season. Don't remember it too clearly; I've always thought it was 2-1 to us but after looking on Statto.com I've found out about a goal I never knew happened!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 My dad got free tickets from work or we would naver have been able to afford to go. Sat upstairs in the kop and Ian Wilson scored to give us a 1-0 win against Arsenal.
dogadug Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 Was the first game at the Walkers the one we had to vote for Leicester City or Leicester Fosse? Or am i way off? The first game at the Walkers was against Watford, we won 2-0. The game where we voted for City or Fosse was later on in the 02/03 season against Wimbledon I think.
Captain... Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 3-1 against Barnsley arse end of the 91-92 season I remember at that game I fell in love with Leicester, didn't understand the offside rule and my favourite players were Tommy Wright and Kevin Russel, both of whom left the club not long after. I sat with my Dad in the top of the Double Decker. We went to the next 2 home games of the season, Cambridge 2-1 and Newcastle 1-2 when Stevie Walsh scored an Oggy and the Newcastle fans ripped up the seats and started throwing them at the fans in SK1, that was also my first match in the kop, SK4 though. First non filbo match was Wembley a few weeks later Tommy Wright's last match, I thought I would never forgive David Speedie, but I did. Leicester 3 - 1 Barnsley, Filbert Street, Double Decker, back end of 91/92 season. Don't remember it too clearly; I've always thought it was 2-1 to us but after looking on Statto.com I've found out about a goal I never knew happened! I feel like I should I hug you or hi-5 you or something. I also remember being surprised by the people watching on Bentley's roof, I would love to have seen a game from up there.

I also remember being surprised by the people watching on Bentley's roof, I would love to have seen a game from up there. Ha, awesome. If you were near the back of the double-decker then we probably weren't that far from each other either! I think we would have been over SK2 or 3. From hereon in I shall view you as a brother.

I Remember that well, one of the best nights at filbert street.
Pegosteve Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 December 1967 v West Ham but we lost 4-2 I think, stood with my Dad in the standing area in front of the wing stand at Filbert St end. My Dad is a Leeds fan (probably why I hate them so much!) but at least he took me to see the City so have to be grateful I was not indoctrinated (at a time when they were building their great side) We often stood in the away end at the front where City fans were allowed to stand before segregation, the atmosphere was always good and banter between the fans. Most memorable game in the early years was an FA Cup 4th Rd reply v Man City at Filbert St 1968, I think we were 3 nil down and came back to win 4 -3 39000 in the crowd and sure Frank Large scored a hat trick, great night.
chesterfox Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 come on guys you;ll have to help me out with this one...mine was a rotten evening game v Blackpool the wether wes absolutely evil ....the ground was so sodden but the ref refused to call it off...no way wd it get played these days... Rodney Fern was playing and a shot of his was so certainly goal bound that he turned away in celebration only for the ball literally to stick on the goal line....it was the biggest farce ever and ended 0-0 - year anybody? It would have been around 70 sthg ive been to better
foxhound Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 My first game was against Liverpool 1977 ( I think) at Filbert St we lost 4-0 and I was hooked, must be the masochist in me. That was my first game too! I was in the 'Pop stand' aged 10. Leicester City 0 Liverpool 4. Fairclough (18), Heighway (69), Dalglish (81), McDermott (84), Att 26051.
dogadug Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 Ahh sweet, was that the one we won 4-0? Yes, and Dickov got 2 peno's in something like 6 minutes.
Corky Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 My abiding memory of my first game was my Dad swearing. He rarely swears so it surprised me.
Fosse Boy Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 A boring 0-0 against Blackburn in 1994, in the season they became champions and we went down. I was hooked.
Webbo Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 A boring 0-0 against Blackburn in 1994, in the season they became champions and we went down. I was hooked. That was Fatty McGoo's first game in charge iirc.
isaidno Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 1992, Anglo Italian cup vs Grimsby , won 4-0 with 2 goals from Bobby Davison and Phil Gee. I also remember being 3-0 down against Portsmouth and the floodlights failing. We were gutted when they came back on
Kitchandro Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 My abiding memory of my first game was my Dad swearing. He rarely swears so it surprised me. I'm always shocked at the psycho my Dad becomes at the football!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 I can't remember exactly when it was but we beat Derby 4-2 at Filbert Street. I'd be much obliged if somebody could remind me of some of the details of the game.

Jimmy2Drags Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 My Mum took me to my first match when I was about 5 or 6 (1983ish). All i remember is that the pitch looked like a beautiful green carpet & we were playing against a team in white. The first match I went to with my mates was Bristol City at home. Brian Little had just taken over, Kevin Poole was my new hero & Gary Mills scored one of the best goals I've had the pleasure to witness.
