sbfox Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 HA!! So Spearing was the catalyst for our play off position? I was a season ticket holder and when he played he was no better than anyone else we had. Made no difference at all. Bet you fooking loved Mark Davies though...
Bettsj2 Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Bet you fooking loved Mark Davies though... I wouldnt say I loved Mark Davis but for the 5 games he was here (or however many it was), he made a clear improvement on the team whereas Spearing didnt. Spearing was an average midfielder. Nothing outstanding and certainly not worth bringing back. Not that that's being suggested but the tone of the replies to my post suggest some people would want him back.
Simmo86 Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Agree. I thought he was dogshit whilst he was here. Either injured or on the floor. Rubbish. Him and Spearing made no impact when they came on loan. No idea what the love in is all about. Spearing made no difference 5 results before Spearing Joined Coventry draw 2-2 Reading lost 2-1 Derby lost 1-0 Cardiff lost 2-1 Wba lost 3-0 5 results after Spearing Joined QPR won 4-0 Posh won 2-1 Watford won 4-1 Preston won 1-0 Boro won 2-0 Cold hard facts!!! Your right though, he made no difference at all!

Spearing played in a tough, end of season Championship promotion push, Davies played 5 games against the likes of Leyton Orient. Spearing has featured semi-regularly for Liverpool, especially in cups and Europe, Davies has played less than a handful of games all season. Of course Davies looked better than virtually every other midfielder, he was better than League 1 standard. To at Davies is better than Spearing is well....a bit silly.

I dont think Spearing was anything to write home about and you do. WOW. Maybe one day we'll all agree on every player that ever plays for the club. Sheesh.

Your right though, he made no difference at all! My god you're right. Jay Spearing was the reason why we ended up in the play-offs and if he'd have played against Cardiff in the second leg then we most certainly would have gone through to the final, beat Blackpool and now be enjoying the spoils of Premiership football. Damn you Nigel Pearson for not playing him on that fatefull night. Damn you to hell.
Bettsj2 Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 You're all gimps. I've read the thread again and Bert is completely correct. We're all gimps. Apologies.

Your right though, he made no difference at all! spearing joined between the cov and reading games, so we lost 4 of the first 5 games of his loan spell. I liked him though, very combative, but abe and wellens are more than capable of doing that (possibly moreno, not seen him play in midfield yet) so we don't really need spearing. as for vaughan, 500k for him is a better deal than 3m for waghorn but vaughan is possibly too injury-prone.

My bad, he came on against Reading and started against Cardiff. But for Bettsj2 to make out he made no impact here is pure nonsense! For the record though wouldnt have him back now. Prefer Yuki

Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 caught a glimpse of the back page pf the mercury this morning and thought it said we are going for vaughan after deal for keane fell through ?? robbie keane surely not ? Your eyes do not deceive you - attempted a deal just before the window closed. Keane wasn't interested. Shame, I think he's a fantastic player
davieG Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Merc Leicester City are on the trail of Everton striker James Vaughan after failing in an audacious bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane on loan. According to sources, City approached Spurs about taking Republic of Ireland international Keane on a short-term deal just before the loan window closed last Thursday. But the 30-year-old turned down the offer, preferring to remain with Spurs until January when he is likely to be the subject of a permanent transfer. Keane's decision appears to have forced City to look elsewhere to strengthen their attacking options, and the club have been heavily linked with Vaughan, who was on loan at the Walkers Stadium last season. The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Crystal Palace until December 11, and the Selhurst Park club have made tentative inquiries to Premier League club Everton about extending his stay with a view to making the move permanent. But a source close to Eagles manager George Burley has reported that Leicester are lining up a £500,000 bid for Vaughan, who has scored five goals in 12 games for Palace. The Birmingham-born forward made five appearances for City last season but was restricted to just two starts, and a hamstring injury ruled him out of the Championship play-off semi-finals against Cardiff. Vaughan has remained tight-lipped about his future, saying he just wants to gain regular match-time and see what happens in January. Sven-Goran Eriksson's move for Keane is a further indication that City's new owners are prepared to back the manager to the hilt in the transfer market, and are targeting proven Premier League talent. Although it would have been a loan, City would have had to pay a large percentage of Keane's reported £75,000 a week wages. City have already taken Keane's Spurs team-mate Kyle Naughton on loan, and have also recruited Curtis Davies, Greg Cunningham, Roman Bednar and Chris Kirkland from Premier League clubs. Keane has struggled to force his way into Harry Redknapp's starting line-up since he returned from his loan spell last season at Celtic, and has made just five Premier League appearances this season
paddy Agyemang Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 good singing, i like the fact we put a cheeky loan bid in for robbie keane yesssss sven
Cheese Me Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Good player with bags of potential and a bargain at that price, we should definitely snap him up. Looks like Fryatt will be on this way in the not too distant future and if Bednar becomes permanent this deal would leave us with good strength up front, Howard, Bednar and Vassell with the experience, Waghorn and Vaughan with the potential plus Dyer and Gallagher giving us width. Bearing that in mind I think we've probably only got room for one more forward this season and if it's Vaughan I'm pretty happy with that unless we really can get someone of the class of Keane in. SIgn up the loan players and maybe look to add one more midfield / wide player as cover and we'll be in great shape..
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Not saying he would be a bad signing but didnt rate him that much when he was here last season. He wasnt bad, but hardly did brilliantly either.
crazylegs1984 Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 In my own opinion vaughn would be a great signing he has great potential
