Should Ipswich vs Leicester have been called off or even played?

Poor old Man City.

They try so hard to prove that they are real contenders - but with tonight's game going ahead it just demonstrates that they are smaller and less powerful than Blackpool.

Damn you Sky. Damn you for bullying tiny little Man City into endangering their inferior players, just in the name of national entertainment. I hope you can sleep at night, Murdoch.

The bullying explanation was silly but you're being soft if you think Sky AND both clubs wouldn't have been extra eager to get that game played, even if it would normally have been called off.

It is not an excuse for losing and being shit but the conditions WERE silly.

it shouldnt even have kicked off

but it was on sky so it did, dont want sky losing out on their money do we ??

Alan Young was right, if it wasnt on sky it would have been called off before kick off

anyway we were shit, but dont worry Watford will batter Ipswich

Roy keane will go

No two ways about it, we were never in the game from the word go, but that fact it was on sky was reason ipswich wanted to get it going, and when they were 3-0 did everything to keep game on. but 1 question had leicester been 3-0 up would they have been clearing the pitch to keep game on, i doubt it.....

all in all worst game of season, but we had fun tucked away in the stand, and even built a snowman when got back to the car as everywhere gridlocked........

roll on leeds

believe me, I'm not here to blow smoke up Sky's arse, but I still don't quite see how Sky significantly lose out if the game is postponed on the day? The losers would be Ipswich who would lose out on tv money and matchday revenue, especially with a very late in the day postponement when presumably they've already forked out for police, stewards and staff.

Sky continue to collect subscriptions (I doubt many people have cancelled theirs on the basis they couldn't watch this match); and the loss (if any) of advertising revenue will be offset by the rescheduling of this or another match at a later date.

As I said before, I'm sure Sky would prefer the game to go ahead, but I still don't see them holidng a gun to the clubs' head. In any case, the decision to play the match rests with the referee in consultation with police and other safety partners.

I'm glad you posted this, mate. There hasn't been a thread made about the snow yet.

Anyway come down off your very tall horse for a moment and talk to me.

Have you posted similar 'witty' remarks on all the threads about Sven? This is only the second thread about the snow at Ipswich and I'm simply opening a discussion about the article, and the opinion of a very experienced referee on the situation.

What I love most, is the comment at the bottom of the article. That guy is spot on :chant:

Beaten to it.

Anyway will you old men put your slippers on, get your pipe out and chill the **** out.

*Do I win with that one?

I don't think our referees are up to the same standard as the Germans.

This would've never happened if a German ref was in charge.

The nurse took my slippers away.

Apparently aiming them for a pretty backside is harassment in Cameron's Britain.

I think this 'it should never have started' stuff is pretty stupid really, when we got to Ipswich there was no snow on the ground and at kick off there was hardly any on the pitch. I know, the weather forecast said the snow would be coming but it wouldn't be the first time they had got things wrong would it. However, after the snow began to fall in the quantities it did and the lines of the pitch had disappeared it should definitely had been called off, without a shadow of a doubt. I also wonder, had we been in the lead at half-time and then at the subsequent break in the second half how many groundsman/stewards would have been on the pitch clearing the snow then.

was thoroughly dissapointed in everything about this game. the official decisions, the quality of football, but most of all the way city reacted. they have to be much much better against leeds.

can we move on because f*** all will come of this.

Absolutely ridiculous how today's match at Ipswich was called off because parts of the pitch were frozen underneath, although there was no snow or ice on the actual pitch. The conditions were far better compared to our game last week in those awful conditions which went ahead. Absolute farce.

Not as bad as chelsea calling off their game with united last week. pitch was perfect they just fancied finding a bit of form before facing manu, Shouldn't be the club's call.
