Kirkland

Come on.... I mean... Chris (lovely guy) Kirkland has the positional sense of Stevie Wonder and the wrists of Graham Norton.

Best save I ever saw him make was with his face.

I hate to say it but... I told you so.

He may have been unsighted for the first goal but the second and third, totally his fault. Twatting about like he was auditioning for Dancing on Ice and then hopelessly out of postion at the near post.

Waste of a place IMHO. He would barely make the team at Barwell now.

Lets do what Leicester fans do best and right someone off after 1 game! He's shit, send him back!

Not to mention he made his debut in a team performance on par with Pompey and in appauling conditions!

He didnt stand a chance with first and the second was right in the corner! Anybody who thinks Chris 'suspect from distance' Weale would have done any better in that game is seriously deluded!

Were never going to be able to move forward as a club if some of the deadheads on here are righting off new signings because there not producing miracles after one game!! (Remember Yuki??)

People need to remember that our team last season was made up of average Championship players who overachieved due to momemtum! Guess what, we lost that momentum when we lost the penalty shoot out at Cardiff!

Now we need better quality players to move forward but there not fooking miracle workers!!

So please, lets judge him after 5 games not 1!

I'm not one to form an opinion too early but I think it's time Sven either sticks with Weale this season or looks elsewhere.

I was thinking more re injuries than his performance as I do not feel he is the long term solution and if he isn't there's little point in chopping and changing the defence especially in those conditions it was obvious that they knew little about his game and his about there's

I repeat I was referring to his proneness to injury not his ability. It's bad enough having a side filled with loanees but if they're going to be in and out with injuries as well, especially being a goalkeeper and needing a settled defence then that's a big no no for me.

He is a quality keeper... and certainly better than Weale. His injurty record is meaningless now, if he is fit he should be our first choice.

A history of injuries isnt really relevant...im only interested in what he does for the future, for us.

Undoubtidly when in form (which comes with a sustained period of playing) the ginger bread man will be one of the best keepers in the league. The chances of him playing enough to regain form however are somewhat slim, he has a back made of glass amongst other things.

If we can find an alternative in January it should be considered.

I wasn't taking a swipe at you davieG, it was at the general mentality of some on here regarding new signings. Gets right on my wick!

Imo we need to find an alternative to Weale in January, whether bringing an injury prone prem keeper in is the wisest thing to do I dont know. But I feel if we get 4 more games out of him till he goes back then he'll do a much better job than Weale.

People calling a new signing shit after 1 game gets me

Surely a goalkeeper with the experience of Premiership clubs wouldn't need to bed in at a new club in particular a solo position like a goalkeeper. It's not as if you have to fit in to a particular style or formation, you just have to be good enough and Kirkland isn't.

He wasn't good at Wigan either.

Nor Liverpool.

Nor West Brom, he was 4th choice keeper... FOURTH choice

And... only one cap for england. What does that tell you?

It tells me he must of done something right otherwise he wouldnt of been signed by those clubs and been playing in the Prem.

Our current keeper was decent at Yeovil but then wasn't good enough for Bristol City or Hereford! and has no caps for England what does that tell you?

I don't get how we can be blaming Kirkland at all. How can you judge any player let alone 'keeper in 1 game is ridiculous, the conditions he played in on Saturday were probably the worst he (and everyone else) will of played in and as a 'keeper conditiond like saturday are hell. The ball gathers pace, snow in the eyes etc. There is no doubt Kirkland is a very good 'keeper and to say that he won't move us forward well that your just plain stupid, he was playing in the premier league at the beggining of this season.

That doesn't mean KIRKLAND is any good, though does it

Kirkland - Houllier wouldn't have paid £6m for if he was average, if he is fit he has the potential to be the best keeper in the league.

Vassell - Has never been a prolific goal scorer but can destroy defences with his pace and quality ball control, just needs a natural goal scorer to play alongside. Fryatt? Bednar? New signing?

Looked out of his depth at the weekend

Then again so did the rest of the squad

Think we should wait until were not playing in a blizzard before we start judging him tho. Ipswich was probably the worst possible conditions to have your debut in.

Posted

Means he's obviously not shit though is he! and if fit the best option we've got!

Yep, can't argue with you there!

Unfortunately.

I'm sorry but how can anybody judge Kirkland after Saturdays game?

He's had 1 game. Ok, he's conceded 3 goals but look at the conditions! I think nearly every goalkeeper in the world would have struggled to cope in those conditions.

Give him some time.

Posted

Thing is people aren't just judging him on one game, I've been watching him underperform for years on match of the day, as have many others. He started out with a lot of potential, he suffered a few injuries and has never lived up to that potential and probably never will.

Is he better than Weale? arguably. Is he a long term prospect for team with premiership ambitions? I don't think so.

In his short time here he has got himself injured and looked shit. Harsh to judge him on the Ipswich farce, but so far he hasn't done anything to change my mind.

Posted

we'll have to see. he HASN'T reached the potential he showed as a young keeper and he most probably never will. he could still prove to be valuable if he manages to keep fit and develop a strong relationship with the other defenders.

would like to see him play a few games before we pass any judgment. pretty shit debut though.

New goalkeeper if we need any more.

Why not Svens favourite Schmeicel junior last in Notts (because of Sven)

It´s an brilliant goalkeeper not so tall but quick!

What do you thinks about this?

I start from goalkeeper and my next is rightback.

People seem to be making out that Weale would have done better against Ipswich than Kirkland. I seriously don't think that he would've done much better to be honest. First goal Kirkland was not Kirkland's fault, it went through a load of defenders and into the net. Second goal he could've dived earlier but would Weale have done better considering he is suspect from 18+ yards? I don't think so, and well the third goal was more of Abe's fault than Kirkland's.

Kirkland is obviously a good player else he wouldn't have played in the premier league for most of his career and to try and say that he isn't good enough for Leicester is ludicrous.

Can't see Leeds offloading him for all the tea in china

Can't we just wait for Kirkland to play in something other than a blizzard before we start looking for a new keeper

I know he is playing in Leeds, but not hoping he will bee so good this time!

But it also about the backline if you can trust them as a goalkeeper.

Thanks for youre advise and i think the blues take this!

I can see why Leeds don´t let him go, but it´s all about money.

I think Sven like him as a goalkeeper and money.....

If Kirkland not getting better we don´t know. We must give him a fare chance or?
