davieG Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 I'm not one to form an opinion too early but I think it's time Sven either sticks with Weale this season or looks elsewhere.
Thracian Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 I'm not one to form an opinion too early but I think it's time Sven either sticks with Weale this season or looks elsewhere. Kirkland should set up his own lonely hearts website - he gets hurt so often. As for his bit of dribbling on the edge of the box - he was so clumsy he should wear a bib.
Haydos Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 It's like England before the WC. Think he should stick with Kirkland for the time being, looked shaky today but we could attribute that to the weather as well
dannythefox Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Hes never fit and should of saved the second tonight we dont need him. Stick with Weale hes fine, its scoring thats the problem not our keeper.
Webbo Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 This was not a game for blaming individuals. Nobody shone today. I never did see the point of signing Kirkland with his injury record and I think he could have done better with the second but I'm not certain Weale would have done any better.
Joe. Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Horrific game for a goalkeeper to make his debut in - give him chance...
Finchy Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Hes never fit and should of saved the second tonight we dont need him. Stick with Weale hes fine, its scoring thats the problem not our keeper. Yeah scoring is our big problem. 5-1 is a pathetic score. Our only problem is this completely different team that turns up away from home. No new players needed, no changes needed, they just need to get their acts together away. Anyway i'm not blaming anyone after that result, it was a farce, football can't be played in those conditions. Should have been called off, move on to Leeds.
Salieri Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Horrific game for a goalkeeper to make his debut in - give him chance... Agreed. There shouldn't be any scapegoats made from tonight.
dannythefox Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Horrific game for a goalkeeper to make his debut in - give him chance... Hes to injury prone we dont need him send him back. Theres no reason for him being here.
Salieri Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Hes to injury prone we dont need him send him back. Theres no reason for him being here. If you look at his appearance record at Wigan in the last 3 seasons then you would see the 'injury prone' tag is pretty inaccurate.
davieG Posted 18 December 2010 Author Posted 18 December 2010 I was thinking more re injuries than his performance as I do not feel he is the long term solution and if he isn't there's little point in chopping and changing the defence especially in those conditions it was obvious that they knew little about his game and his about there's
StanSP Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 We need solidarity and chopping and changing goalkeepers isn't going to help. Having said that though, today isn't the day to blame anyone. Forget today. And move on to Leeds on Boxing Day.
dannythefox Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 If you look at his appearance record at Wigan in the last 3 seasons then you would see the 'injury prone' tag is pretty inaccurate. I've seen it but hes not worth 120,000 and we DONT need him.
Wymsey Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 His fault for first goal, way too slow reacting, only good thing coming out of him is his kicks. Enough said.
Salieri Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 I've seen it but hes not worth 120,000 and we DONT need him. I think you'll find we need another keeper, if not him. We have Weale, who goes from being a world beater to a calamity therefore you need a good keeper providing genuine competition which we haven't got at the moment.

Yes you need someone to keep you on your toes but if kirklands fit he will always play and weale wont be on the bench because he'll be down the road. Kirklands not the answer if he plays shit he'll still play the next match. Its jobs for the boys look at vassell your not telling me hes the answer to us scoring loads of goals but because hes svens boy he'll play every match if he plays well or not.
ozleicester Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 He is a quality keeper... and certainly better than Weale. His injurty record is meaningless now, if he is fit he should be our first choice. A history of injuries isnt really relevant...im only interested in what he does for the future, for us.

So Kirkland has been signed because he's 'Sven's boy'? Rubbish. He's a more than adequate keeper at this level and can't possibly be judged on this performance. Vassell has had mixed reviews, granted, but again, at this level and on a free, a decent gamble in my opinion. Just because Sven has signed a couple of players he has worked with recently hardly makes it a case of 'jobs for the boys'.
dannythefox Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Vassells been fit for 8matches played 8matches scored one goal al let you make your own mind up!

Rooney hasn't scored a goal from open play since March, would you write him off? Vassell has looked sharper with every match he's played, scoring his first goal last game will help. If you get the 'Sven's old boy' chip off your shoulder you might realise Darius could be a very good acquisition for us, at this level at least.
