Ollie - Coach of the Year Shortlist

Wasn't sure if I should put this is the main Leicester threads, but since he's no longer with us, decided it should be here.

You'll have probably noticed that he was shortlisted for Coach of the Year along with Colin Montgomerie and Andy Flowers on Sports Personality of the Year 2010. Amazing really, but I think we all have to give him a grudging nod of respect for what he's achieved at Blackpool. I find myself curious of several "what if" scenarios, the most interesting of which would have been "what if Ollie had been Milan's intitial Nigel Worthington replacement?

But then maybe what happened with us and his break away from football made him take stock and become a better manager? Or maybe he's just been lucky at Blackpool? Or just maybe he was always a good manager?

I know a lot of people hate Ollie and blame us for going into the 3rd Division for the 1st time ever, but I think there are better candidates for worst City manager ever, Megson, Pleat, McLintock.

In all honesty I have to admit he has done brilliantly at Blackpool and in fairness, he was just the unfortunate straw that broke the camels back.

However, out of some odd principle, he will always be a cvnt in my eyes for being the one in charge when we got relegated.

I think it's because he has to be the big fish in a small pond that it has worked at Blackpool and not with us.

As long as he is the centre of attention it all seems to work well.

Eh, good on him. Never had a problem with the chap. I think the decision to let go of him was the right one at the time, he struck me as out of his depth here - leaving Plymouth must have been hard and he never appeared to have settled, always struck me as a tiny bit desperate. We needed a bit of composure and that's what Pearson brought.

But I've never doubted he's a very good manager when it comes to grafting. Different clubs take a different sort of person, there's no coincidence in his successes having all come at small clubs with low expectations, no pressure and limited resources. In my opinion, coming here was out of his comfort zone.

But as I said back then, you don't just become a bad manager over night - and he's proven that by going on to do well at Blackpool, fair play Ollie.

And for the record, his interviews don't now and never have annoyed me, either.

He was too cautious and negative with us, and when the Blackpool gig came up he made sure he didn't repeat that mistake.

Fair play to him for what he's done up there - even making DJ look a half-decent striker! :o

too much interference here for him to do his job

fair play to the bloke , i thought he was a clown that just got lucky before he came here , he's now proved many of us to be wrong

good luck ollie
