lcfc_jme Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Yeeeeaaaaanway, Leeds were spectacularly uneventful s'afternoon, and if I'm honest, we didn't deserve all 3 points either - not good enough for a performance at home really. That said, though, the similarities between this seasons' Leeds and last seasons' Leicester are uncanny. We were spectacularly uneventful in most games last season but were extremely hard working and industrious, bringing teams down to our level in order to grind out results which we SERIOUSLY didn't deserve - same as Leeds s'afternoon. They were never going to out-pass us, especially on our own patch, so they made sure they stayed compact in the middle of the park and closed us down at all times. Good effort on their part, I'll say. I was a little sceptical of the people who were berating Gally for his contribution against Watford considering he scored twice, but today I could fully understand what they were getting at. The guy is literally a waste of space. I'd genuinely rather have had Fryatt on than him, and that's most definitely saying something. The guy was actually abysmal. In a game which was crying out for a player who'd run at defenders or take them on physically, he provided neither and instead was highly responsible for our slow and pain-staking attempts at build-up play. To say I was unimpressed with him and the midfield as a whole would be an understatement. Fair play to Leeds, they knew their limits and executed their game-plan perfectly, it was just highly disappointing that we decided to play at their level instead of pressurise their WOEFUL back-line from the off.
Dan Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 What are you talking about? Have you read none of my posts? Where have I belittled the forum ? As I said earlier, I would've taken a point earlier today, why would I be bitter? Feels like two points lost but i'm not bitter in the slightest you disabled You're a fvcking belter.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Basing my assessment on the first half alone, Doncaster are better than Leeds.
AmyLGK Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Morning, I finally have signal to comment. This was the first game I've been to this season (and not cause we were playing leeds but cause I was home for Christmas and wanted to see my beloved team play). I was really impressed with the first 20 mins or so and thought that finally we're coming out fighting. Then it felt like both teams had forgotten how to play football. 2 goals later and 70 minutes into the game, I came to the conclusion that my perception of how well we've been playing in previous games must be wrong as Stringer makes us sound like Brazil at times...! The crap I was watching was far from it. Where were the fluid one touch passes? The quality on ball? I thought Sven should have changed things a bit sooner than he did. I just don't get why, when we're not meant to be a long ball side anymore, does howard start over dyer!? But I'm not all doom and gloom, after id been pulled into the real world I thought our drive and determination to come back from 2 goals down was incredible. I guess maybe it was just a bad day at the office but we still managed to get something out of it. Kings goal was immense, following which I experienced a pile on in the kop :-) So my first game of the season brought me back to earth with a thud - made me realise that stringer is not to be taken seriously and highlights are just that - but Leicester still have that fighting spirit I love so much, we are capable of some brilliant play if not for extended periods....and Sven wears a sleeping bag as a coat :-)
Karljohn Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Fantastic goal from King and great performance from Hobbs, 40 goals conceded, the worst in the league along with Palace and Jack comes in a does a great job amongst the "premier" defenders. Would love to see Morro given a game as I thought Davies was shite once again yesterday, and if Gallagher had to make 100 decisions he would get 99 wrong. Other than that, a point gained in the end, still no back to back win this season and until it's put that right it'll be mid table for a long time yet.
philce Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 When leicester or an away team scores the stand shakes and they think its an accident waiting to happen. People who sit in L and N will know what I am talking about. Its actually designed to "move" like that! That's why we cant have any music concerts, the dancing might bring the stands down!! The Millennium stadium in Cardiff have special supports that they use when hosting a concert to counteract this. Didn't feel anything in L when they scored yesterday though, I thought they were poor compared to Leeds normal support.
Anish Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Disappointing performance overall. The midfield was overran at times, especially when we went 4-4-2. Leeds had far too much time and space running at our defenders and our midfield was second to every ball. Abe was wasted out wide and Gallagher was poor. However, neither were a patch on 'Super Steve' and Curtis Davies, both of whom were woeful. Howard's legs have long gone and he's never on the same wavelength as the rest of the team - his shots on goal were symptomatic of his performance, and that header in the first half shows he's not good enough in the air either. Curtis Davies was a clown, that was one of the worst centre half performances I'd seen in quite some time. How can he be beaten in the air that often by Becchio? He was ran ragged all afternoon and it's no wonder we've conceded so many goals this season when Davies has been in the team. Chris Kirkland should've done better on both goals too - the first goal was a cross into the 6 yard area and he's got to claim them. In fact, I can't remember Kirkland claiming any crosses yesterday, and every set piece Leeds had yesterday was aimed at Kirkland cos they identified his major weakness. The second goal looked like he wasn't even set. Despite individual performances, I'll take the point after being 2-0 down. It's just a shame we need to go behind before we start playing.
The Doctor Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Generally, teams do experience purple patches where they get the lions share of decisions, and phases of extreme misfortune. I'm not sure how you can despute this. sometimes it does even out (for instance we've been denied some blatent penalties earlier this season - QPR at home in paticular but we've had 6 in our last 8 games) but it doesn't always (the amount of goals we had disallowed in 07-08, quite a few of which there was nothing wrong with whatsoever). jme - i think you're being very harsh on gallagher, i'm not too keen on the bloke myself but yesterday (unlike recent weeks) he challenged for headers, got stuck in, tracked back to help cunningham. I thought he played fairly well yesterday.
MOT Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 You're a fvcking belter. As i've already said, I would've taken a point at 12 pm on Saturday. Leicester are a decent side who are in a good bit of form at the moment.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Glad we got a point. Maybe could've won. Cracker by King again. Schmiechel should've gone. Leeds support was fantastic. Shame some c***s had to ruin it abit outside.

Shame some c***s had to ruin it abit outside. Did the nasty Leeds fans throw piss at women and children whilst simultaneously raping and pillaging the whole of the surround area?
ScouseFox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 We were shit. They were half decent. The ref was shit. Two great goals, two lucky goals. Draw was fair. In terms of support they were good throughout, we were quiet until the team got going a bit second half.
North-LondonFox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 To be fair I thought we were poor today, not good enough for at home, sorry lads should be winning these games I tend to agree actually. Sorry to be a bit negative, but I think we have the quality in the side to be winning these games. Here's hoping we get a much needed away win at the Den nd here's hoping I don't get my fookin head kicked in goin down there!
PAULCFC Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 We were shit, they were shit. But Andy King - take a bow, son. What a hit that was. This,,,,,,and i don't use them often!
