cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 has anyone got any transfer targets at LB if we the worst comes to the worst?? gibbs from arsenal could be worth a shot or is he playing at arsenal We prob need a left back even if Berner doesn't leave
s11nny Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 well we have Mee on loan who can play at LB in addition to CB. guess we still will need 1 more though
Les-TA-Jon Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yh at the moment getting a bit worried with the amount of sales it looks like we're going to be making - defence in particular not looking good LB: Berner - looks likely to leave Kennedy - Not good enough? Mee - Unknown quality - looks likely to be played at left back by Sven CB: Hobbs - Should be first choice in my opinion Bamba - Unknown but presumably going to be first choice due to it being a new signing? Vitor - Good, but only a loan and currently injured Morrison - Going to Owls? RB: Naughton - Gone back to Spurs for now - likely to be sold - but he'd surely go to QPR or a Prem team before us? Neilson - Not Good Enough Lamey - Not Good Enough
Ashley Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Mee looks to big to be a left back however I haven't seen him play there so I shall leave it there. Kieran Gibbs is a very good shout. Wayne Bridge, anyone?
topharry123 Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Wonder if Wayne Bridge could be a possibility or if he would still be wanted by PL clubs. My gut tells me he wouldn't step down to our level, but maybe Sven can do something! When I read this post it made me remember last years rumor that we were interested in bringing Gareth Bale in on loan......if only......
Guest Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 They won't let Berner go unless they have better cover. They're letting MM go because he'll now be 5th string CB.
BaddaBaddadaBAMBA Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Someone like Patrick Van Aanholt (excuse spelling) or Jloyd Samuel would be a good bet, either on loan or even a permanent for the latter. If bruno does go, and according to Stringer it's pretty likely, we need cover, recalling Tom Kennedy would be a short-term solution, and for me he's not ready to play at this level just yet.
Bob Farley Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 i was thinking this, at least we can recall tom kennedy?
JOHN LCFC Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 has anyone got any transfer targets at LB if we the worst comes to the worst?? gibbs from arsenal could be worth a shot or is he playing at arsenal Bruno Berner is a quality and experienced LB he is good enough to play in the championship and gets regulary picked for switzerlands team. he may start on the bench but he nearly always plays. he played fine for us last season and has served the club well every game he is has played. as much as i like Sven i think even he doesnt start Berner he should at least be on the bench all the time. we would be stupid to let him go. having a sigining like Cunningham or Gibbs will be good for the youthful side of the team, granted they have more pace and most probably more skill, but Bruno Berener is experienced and knows the game very well.
muzzy1981 Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Personally I think Cunningham was technically a much better player than Berner and deserved his run in the team. He is likely to be a quality Prem league LB in the future. I think Sven can't give Berner what he wants with us which is guarenteed first team football and rightly so as he is not giving that to anyone, it has to be earnt week in week out. If Bruno wants that I think he'll have to go to a smaller club with a weaker squad/money etc. Hopefully Sven has said as long as you are in the team performing you will keep your place and he will stay. So in answer to the thread. Hopefully Bruno will stay and if not we need to buy or loan a good replacement, not sure about mee sounds like more of CB to me.
BaddaBaddadaBAMBA Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Bruno Berner is a quality and experienced LB he is good enough to play in the championship and gets regulary picked for switzerlands team. No offence mate, but does he? He's played 16 times for Switzerland from 2001-2004 and joined us in 2008, i agree that he's still got it

Zingari Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I recommend a physio for back problems. Do you reckon we could get the Nigerian left back Solve Lumbago on loan ?
MeatyLCFC Posted 7 January 2011 Author Posted 7 January 2011 was going to say bridge but i think west ham are on his trail nd he's on 80k a week with man city looking to sell him not loan
broughtonblue Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Do you reckon we could get the Nigerian left back Solve Lumbago on loan ? Hope not, Kirkland might be back!
BaddaBaddadaBAMBA Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 George Elokobi, although he's been alright for Wolves, also Danny Collins at stoke is out of favour, although he can play at the back?
RedHux Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Decent left backs are like rocking horse shit (or at least that's what our AP keeps telling us). Ryan Bertrand's back at Chelsea and he's got to be about 5th choice so worth a cheeky bid from yourselves. Word has it Chelsea want rid so a deal could be done for an actual permanent signing.
