How is La Liga exciting?

Thats nothing at all to do with the huge tax breaks footballers receive in Spain is it? Or the much easier style of play? Or the fact that a lot of worlds elite footballers have tended to be hispanic/latin based?

I also wouldn't refer to "the state of English football" considering we have around 5 or 6 clubs that are strong enough to walk into the semi-final of the Champions League....whereas Spain has....you get my point.

Although in all fairness we all have to remember that last years Champions League final was contested by teams from neither leagues.

You just answered your question right there. There are not five or six English clubs strong enough to 'walk into the CL semi-finals', where on Earth do you get that from? And if memory serves me right, five different Spanish teams have made the CL semi-final stage at least once in the last ten seasons, so where does that leave your argument?

The fact that La Liga is the league of choice for most of the current European and World Champions (something the Premier League has NEVER been able to boast) is a fairly accurate reflection of its current status.

And that's before you take the likes of Messi, Ronaldo etc into account.

Both Barca and Madrid would have walked the Premier this season. The fact that an ageing Manyoo side in serious decline remain unbeaten after 21 league games tells us all we need to know about the current state of English football.

The climate also makes a big difference.

. Saying that, games such as Wolves Vs Wigan aren't great footballing spectaculars :D

I have to disagree. The beauty of English football is it's tempo, I'd rather see the odd long ball and aerial battles than a little bit of tippy-tappy on the halfway line. It's the reason our country unique with football in fashion. It means lower quality I admit but you add the crowd etc. and makes a more compelling spectacle to watch. It doesn't mean we are better at football or have a better league (I'd actually argue that a more competitive leagues kills the ideology behind a league), it's just more buzz equalling a more exciting game. For example, do they have days in Spain like we had on Sunday with three derbies and a very interesting 1st versus 5th.....(even Cesc Fabregas was on twitter praising it).

It's the reason I like my Friday night Bundesliga fix, once the game opens up....the pitch seems double the size compared to an average game. And all this said La Liga is exciting in the sense, there is a league title there which is going to be chased all season...there was a fair bit of drama on Sunday for example.

So my conclusion, we have more exciting games but not necessarily a more exciting league.

That's definitely indicative of Spainish weather. Plus they are sensible and have a winter break.

Well if you're going to discuss climate, you have to be a helluva lot more geographically specific than 'Spain'. This illustrates very clearly how much temperatures (which I assume is what you're alluding to) vary across the country.

As for the winter break, that's down to the respective FAs and clubs isn't it?

The current state of English football? Are you for real?

The fact there are 5 teams challenging for the title instead of just two challengers in Chelsea and Yanited, we now have City, Arsenal and Spurs all capeable of winning the title in my opinion, surely this alone makes it more of an exciting league than La Liga where it will always be a 2 team league, distant memories of Valencia and Deportivo being contenders. The Premier League has never been better, teams are beating one another and the standard of football is pretty high now!

You really are an old baffoon.

First off i'd disagree that arsenal or spurs can challenge for the title. Both have good players and are getting there, but both need that little bit extra to make them serious challengers.

Which league you think depends what you view as exciting really, but la liga isn't exactly a two team league, teams like sevilla & valencia do give a good shot, but like arsenal and spurs (and previously liverpool) they can't quite maintain a challenge.

This has gone from "Which is the most exciting league" to "What is the best league". For me, the Premier League is the most exciting. I love watching it. The atmosphere at the games, the fact that there is a full match schedule on New Years Day, where fans turn out in huge numbers despite having massive NYE hangovers, players who get stuck in week in week out, does it for me. Note that I am not saying the Premier League is BETTER than La Liga.

This may seem a bit biased though, because I have never bothered to watch any other Spanish games than El Clasico, which in all fairness, is the best and most exciting fixture in the world.

Spain is mainly full of woeful goalies & crap defenders. Makes average midfielders & attackers look better

I prefer to watch The Premier or The Championship personally.

And that is absolutely fair enough. If you prefer football to be like that, then that's your call. The topic header asks "how La Liga is exciting" and the simple answer is that the sheer technical abilities and speed on display is exciting in itself. And that goes for a lot of teams in that league. Now when it comes to the number of teams involved in the title race, it might be more exciting THIS season in the Prem, but I think that the dominance we've seen in Spain these last few years is indicative of the surreal teams that Barca and Real currently have.

Your premise is wrong. Any superior midfielder/attacker is going to make his direct opponent look average or poor. Using your logic you might as well say that the Premier league is 'full of average midfielders and attackers that make defenders and goalies look better'.

Distant? It was only 6/7 years ago. The same time since another team other than Chelsea/Man Utd won the Premier League.

I personally think the Premier League is far more exciting aswell as being better than La Liga. The EPL is the type of football I prefer to see, high tempo, intense and most of all tackling. That's just me.

Yes in the last 6/7 years the EPL has had two winners Chelsea and Yanited but in the last 6 years the EPL has had 4 different Champions League finalist in the last 6 years how many La Liga teams have reached the Champions League Final..? Yes you will say it has nothing to do with the Champions League but people like Ultra have said its got all the World Cup/European Championship winning players in it, yeah maybe so but they are all Spanish and playing in their home country the EPL is excelling (last season being an exception) in the best club competition in the world where as La Liga have one excellent team doing well in it.
