Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 Did anybody else's jaw drop at this wonder tackle? I sit behind the goal and I can't remember seeing a tackle like that. Forceful and accurate in equal measure. And the amount of ground he made up to get it was incredible, and it's good to see him working his bollocks off to make up for giving away the pens. Any chance of a GIF of this if highlights show it or if it was streamed?
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 I watched a live stream on-line & can tell you the second pen was never a foul. His tackle was well timed, strong and confidently carried out. It wasn't a great debut tho was it?

Had we lost, I think there would be much more focus on Mee's clumsiness in and around the penalty area.
Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 He didn't play well but credit where credit's due, it was a great tackle And the penalty should have been a free kick to us
Swalker Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 I watched a live stream on-line & can tell you the second pen was never a foul. His tackle was well timed, strong and confidently carried out. It wasn't a great debut tho was it? It wasn't the best I have to say, I didn't walk away feeling as confident as I did when I saw Yakubu and Bamba on their debut's. VERY shaky start for him, mentally tough to get through it though and did the rest of what he had to do. Not the best debut but hard debut to make against Millwall and I think he should get a 2nd chance even though at the minute I prefer hobbs
lcfc_jme Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 Jaw didn't drop but it was an absolutely booming challenge; full-blooded, clean and pretty much vital. Got unlucky with the decision for their 2nd pen, the challenge for the 1st looked very poor though. Beaten nigh-on every time in the air by Steve Morison but there's no shame in that seeing as Morison has dominated Michael Morrison, Jack Hobbs and many other Championship CB's this season. We'll see how he goes but it was an underwhelming yet difficult debut for the lad.
TuptonFox Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 great tackle.! maybe he didn't have as great a debut as yakubu & bamba because it was his first ever senior game.? just a thought.
Swalker Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 great tackle.! maybe he didn't have as great a debut as yakubu & bamba because it was his first ever senior game.? just a thought. Agreed he can only get better. Thrown into the deep end really today, having his first ever football league game against Millwall against one of the championships most dominating strikers
Sk4 Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 In all fairness he got better as the game went on and showed bottle when he made the tackle having been unfortunately responsible for giving away the 2 pens although the 2 nd was never a pen in a million years
superfox1980 Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 Great tackle. Overall I thought he struggled throughout the game although as already mentioned he got better as the game went on. Granted, it was his first game and a few nerves are understandable but I thought he lacked pace, he's not the biggest and his distribution was shocking at times. Hope he gets better but I'd sooner Hobbs was playing alongside Bamba.
Narborough_fox Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 All players make a debut, some are good some are bad. Mee's today was a poor debut but bearing in mind it was his professional debut as well as team debut he did alright. Second penalty was never a penalty but it didn't matter so who really cares. He was sloppy at times but the tackle on Morrison was absoloutly astonishing, more of the same and his debut will be forgotten. Hope he gets his fair chance at first-team football as he looks a tidy player.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Took the ball, took the man, took everything. It seemed to give him a bit of confidence. I'll admit, It was a fantastic challenge.
phillthefox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Sitting in the KOP had a great view of this and what a cracking tackle, took ball and man great english cruncher, but to be fair its all he did all day rest was shocking.....
dbtcity Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Can't believe they didn't show it on the fl show, and they never showed are penalty appeal!! Shocking
Fox92 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Of course he is going to be abit shaky. It was the lad's first ever league game. I think we'd all be like that. The first penalty came all so quick but I think that was a penalty. I sit on row H behind the goal and the second one wasn't. I couldn't believe the ref actually gave that penalty after Forde obviously took out Vassell - that was clear. The tackle on Morrison was well timed and superb. Ecspecially considering that he'd already given away two penalties. The thing that only worried we throughout the whole game about Mee was his pace. He looked to be easily beaten by their forwards, or was it that Millwall were just super fast?
gazfox9 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 unfortunately, Ben Mee did look like a boy playing a mans game yesterday. That tackle was superb, but he worried me everytime the ball went near him. He also appears to look pretty small for a centre half. However, he obviously has some talent to get to where he is today, and hopefully a lot of yesterday can be put down to nerves. I wouldn't be too surprised if sven moves him to full back, we shall see.
Bilbo Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 To be fair I couldn't care less if he made one of the all time greatest tackles in the history of football - his performance was one of the worst I have seen in a good few years for Leicester. Every single time the ball came near him he made an error - bad in the air, clumsy, indecisive and that's not even mentioning the two penalties he gave away. Ok it was his first senior football appearence but in that case if he is that inexperienced he shouldn't be in the team. If we are serious about making a push for the Premier League this Ryan McGivern reincarnate needs to be as far away from our back line as possible, especially as his position should be held by one of the most reliable/experienced players on the pitch.
ScouseFox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Had the whole kop on their feet and Morison on the floor for about 5 minutes. That apart, he was poor, clearly after giving a penalty away after a poor first touch in the first minute wasn't the best of starts.

Sorry to ben mee but i agree with this..yes it was a great tackle but good defenders don't need to make that kind of a tackle in the penalty area. the slightest misjudgment and its another penalty. Regardless of the fact he may improve or that it was his first game i am very skeptical that he is better than hobbs. (whether hobbs is good enough for Sven's aspirations is another matter) In Mee's favour you have to admire the strength of character..2 min into his professional debut..that must have really rocked him!!
Corky Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Brilliant tackle, firm but fair, Morison was in a dangerous position and if it had been mis-timed then another penalty.
Wymsey Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Mee did it at a great time, just before Morrison was about to pull the trigger.
Steveukispeaksenglishb Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Great tackle, it got me and a few old fossils inthe west stand off their seats. Very poor start but the boy can and will perform
CosbehFox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Morison didn't work as hard after that. It was the tackle you should perform in the first ten minutes to greet a striker with a good afternoon. Instead, he errr....tripped Theo Robinson.
