The Doctor Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Great game to kick the tournament off - disappointed wales couldn't nick it (i hate wales but i hate england more). Difference between the two sides was england taking advantage of the extra man while wales didn't. One day Ashton is going to drop one of those for his first, don't fooking celebrate till you've grounded it dickhead.
Finnegan Posted 5 February 2011 Author Posted 5 February 2011 Wilkinson being booed? Really? I actually thought Moore was fairly decent last night, for once. Or at least, by Brian Moore standards. But I thought his little outburst when Johnny Wilkinson got booed on was over the top. It's only a bit of a giggle. Especially given he was happily stirring the pot in the build up and everyone had been talking up how much of a spectacle the hostile atmosphere makes. What a tit. Sure Johnny's a big enough boy not to care. If that's their national sport, then god help them. Yeah it was terrible not losing at home for eight years and winning the Grand Slam twice in that time, including once with a victory in Twickenham. Come back when you've even won a Championship. Was a good match all in all but a fair few errors from both sides, particularly ours. Don't remember Flood / Wilkinson missing a kick all night while the nine points we threw away was decisive. Disappointed, but far more by the fact we're still not getting over the gain line in the way that's traditionally ours far more than that we lost to England. If things don't improve by the end of the Championship I have to say I'm genuinely concerned by Gatland's coaching.

Finnegan Posted 5 February 2011 Author Posted 5 February 2011 Come back when you've won a world cup See you in October.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Where is the World Cup this year? New Zealand
Guest Bilo Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 New Zealand. If they can't win the World Cup in their own back yard, they never will again. I'd be properly stunned if it went to a Northern Hemisphere side.
Finnegan Posted 5 February 2011 Author Posted 5 February 2011 New Zealand. If they can't win the World Cup in their own back yard, they never will again. I'd be properly stunned if it went to a Northern Hemisphere side. France love a bit of New Zealand, I wouldn't write them off, but Lievremont needs to pick a selection policy and stay with it. They'll certainly go in to it as ridiculous favourites, mind, though don't forget that they'll most likely face the Saffers in the semi finals while Australia are on the "easy" side of the draw. England, mean while, won't get beyond the quarter finals given they've either France or the ABs to play when they escape the easiest group going. October 2041
ScouseFox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Italy almost masterminded a huge win ove Ireland, but they got a last minute try to nick it.
Finnegan Posted 5 February 2011 Author Posted 5 February 2011 What a try! Trinh-Duc and Imanol Harinordoquy God, I love watching France when they're in the mood.
Finnegan Posted 5 February 2011 Author Posted 5 February 2011 I hear Scotland are getting trounced To be fair, they're playing okay, they've scored two tries. If they went to Cardiff, Twickenham or Dublin and played like this they'd be within two or three points. There's been errors but then everyone makes errors... except France, today. They've really just been something else. It's significant that Scotland's 14 points are all tries, that's how good France's discipline has been in the danger zone. That and all three of their tries (the fourth was a penalty try) they'd have run in against any team in the world. Just immense.
ScouseFox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 I've been half watching this, and Scotland have played pretty well to be honest. To score three tries in France is a pretty good effort, France have just been a cut above though.
Bugg Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Scotland lost again. They might aswell give up at any kind of sport (except tennis)
FoxyPV Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 ROG comes to the rescue again. Error ridden performance but it's the result that counts. France play some beautiful rugby. The early try for France made it far too hard for Scotland to come back.
Finnegan Posted 6 February 2011 Author Posted 6 February 2011 Just the early try? The mood France were in, nobody was going to go there and win. Edit: Oh, and Ireland were diabolical - probably the worst performance of the weekend.
Finnegan Posted 6 February 2011 Author Posted 6 February 2011 Would of loved Ireland to have won You mean Italy?
FoxyPV Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Just the early try? The mood France were in, nobody was going to go there and win. Edit: Oh, and Ireland were diabolical - probably the worst performance of the weekend. I thought Scotland played well enough but conceding an early try put them on the back foot straight away and to be within an chance of a result they needed to keep the scoring low/ close. Accepting that France can be unplayable, that try stopped them from fooking about and gave them the freedom to play as they can. Screw you, Roo - not supporting the Aussies any more... Even if they're playing England!
Finnegan Posted 6 February 2011 Author Posted 6 February 2011 I always cheer for the Aussies, unless they're playing us. Australia and France are probably my favourite sides, domestically or internationally, with the obvious excepts of the Scarlets and Wales. They're both flawed but they're both just wonderfully expressive on form with some disgustingly flair players. It's a bit gutting (though at the same time, fucking scary) that Vincent Clerc can't get in the French side at the moment. At his best I fancy he's one of the best two or three wingers in the world.
The Doctor Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Scotland lost again. They might aswell give up at any kind of sport (except tennis) we played fairly well actually.
Bert Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 See you in October. Have we got to beat you again then? For the record, I know pretty much nadda about Rugby.
