just watching the news about this......Gaddaffi has called the air strikes Terrorisom (Sorry for the bad spelling)

Well, he's wrong cos only brown people are terrorists.

Nonetheless, Libyans are savages and extreme bigots, and I have no sympathy for them at all.

They have only been involved for a couple of days, I think they managed that last time. Plenty of time for them to run away yet!

Valid point.

Nice to see France doing anything but retreating quickly

having thought about the post quoted just above .. i think i may have been too hasty in my recognition of their efforts....

i heard on QI once ( so it must be true ) that the French had beaten us in more battles than we had beaten them

It's not the battles, it's the wars that count. They might win all their games 40-0 and we win our's 40-30, but if it's 7-6 0-6 7-6 0-6 7-5 at the end, we win!

Oh yes and Gadaffi. I love his "Stop shooting! (carry on shooting when no one's looking)" tactics.

I think he might just get away with it. Genius!

Didn't they win the big 'un that lasted 100 years though ?

that's like equivalent to winning 2 or 3 little 'uns :)

And Gadaffi learned those tactics from British comedy films of yesteryear

This guy should get a role in In The Night Garden.

Alternatively there are numerous marketing opportunities for him.

Moussa Koussa Cous-cous - Yum!

Moussa Koussa Moussaka - I'd eat it!

Edit: I say numerous, I mean two.

If they hang Gaddafi, like they (apparently) hanged Saddam, then that guy should face the same. Probably won't though as he is a compliant dictator (or at least assistant) and not a defiant one.

Is it true that he was embraced by The Foreign Office earlier today? I saw the first couple of minutes of the speech but turned off so missed most of it.

lol yeah I don't like joking about the scummer but he has got a funny name!

Oh yeah, and is it true that this guy got kicked out of England back in 1980 for threatening to kill opposition leaders in Libya? I've not looked into that and can't be arsed right now!

This analysis from Webster Tarpley is far more accurate than anything we are being fed on Sky or BBC. The evidence of slaughter of civilians all points to the rebel group and not Gadaffis forces. The scummer rebels. Some of the same scummers who were in Iraq recruiting and supplying suicide bombers to attack British forces and Iraqi civilains. The simple fact of the matter is that Libyan civilians have far more to fear from the rebels and NATO bombing than they do from Gadaffi (no matter how much of a **** he may be)

Some of the reports on our news have been horribly misleading with no basis in reality whatsoever. Just like the WMD issue they used and reporterd on as one of the excuses to get into Iraq. The cluster bomb one is a favourite! Talk about hypocrisy of the highest order!

To be honest, when I checked out the BBC and Sky websites yesterday I was disgusted and ashamed. They had a whole load of bollocks propaganda on LIbya to justify what we are going to do. And they had nothing at all (that I could find) on Bahrain, for example, where real atrocities against innocent civilians have been going on for over a month. In Bahrain, the western backed folk have been rounding up doctors, nurses, journalists and plenty of others. They have been going through hospitals taking away injured peaceful protestors and doctors who had been treating them.

The Bahrain King even had an invite to the big wedding later this month! Ridiculous if you know what is going on over there. It's equal to inviting Saddam or Bin Laden.

How come we are letting the Bahraini government (if you can call them that) and the Saudis do this to peaceful protestors and yet we go and back the armed rebels in Libya? The same armed rebels who have, weeks ago, already set up a new Libyan Central Bank and started making oil deals with big oil companies.

EDIT : Great line from Tarpley to open, "I think it's an example of the Orwellian absurd rhetoric coming from the NATO headquarters".

Well said El Empty, the amount of shit which people believe, that they are fed from the media without even questioning is unbelievable. 'If it's in the papers then it must be true' kind of attitude, where in fact a majority of news like this is highly distorted and sometimes (in this case) absolutely wrong.

.......................... SO WHAT WOULD YOUR SOLUTION BE EL EMPTY?
Posted

I would like to know what your solution to the problem would be Mr. El Empty?

My solution to Libya would be to leave Gadaffi and his army alone to finish off those dirty Al Qaeda terrorist rebels. But instead we support the terrorist scum simply because our leaders have fallen out with Gadaffi.

I would however like to see our forces go and smash the Saudi and Bahraini leaders, but that's not going to happen because we walk hand in hand with that scum.

It's good to see Ghassan Ben Jeddo has resigned from Al Jazeera because of the biased reporting to do with Libya, Bahrain, Syria etc. That channel is just one of the worst propaganda machines now, which is a shame as they used to have some blummin good 'on the ground' reporting. It was a good station until the American regime started bombing their offices and killing some of their reporters and they caved in and sold their soul.

High five to Jeddo. A very good journalist.

Out of interest, if Gaddafi's forces used the tactics of indiscriminate shelling into civilian areas or hiring foreign mercenaries to shoot into crowds of civilians who were protesting, would you still support Gaddafi against the rebels?

Interestingly, I actually agree that we should not be getting involved in this conflict. It is a civil war where it seems both sides are as bad as each other (or at least I know very little about the other side, except that they don't look like they're fighting for the introduction of the ballot box).

At the moment, it looks like this Arab Spring is yet another lost opportunity for the Arab world as it has not yet produced one democracy (Egypt and Tunisia appear as far away from it as when they had Ben Ali and Mubarak). Now I know you'll blame this on the West, El Empty, but I think you're wrong on that as it makes no sense for America to sell Mubarak (one of it's most loyal allies) down the river for no tangible benefit, especially as it's runied its relations with many of the other dictatorships in the Middle East who are fearful that America will happily sell them down the river too, despite them being allies.

Anyway, it looks like Syria is a bigger problem than Bahrain. No-one will intervene there, so unless the army turn against President Assad, then there will more thank likely be a bloodbath. After all, Syria has form when it comes to putting down uprisings (or at least Assad's father did).

Fair comment, but I am curious as to your knowledge that. the rebels are Al Qaeda. The general consensus of opinion does not support this fact. Like you, I detest Al Qaeda, but am far from convinced that they are the rebels.

Who was it, if not Gadaffi, who instigated the Lockerbie bombing, or is this now unimportant? I want the butcher brought to justice and duly executed. Then may he rot in hell!
