NSNO1878 Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 We don't have much money, true. But, there will be outgoings. Yak, Yobo and Vaughan are all pretty much certain to leave as they've all fallen out with the manager. On the other hand, we have more priority positions to fill before King's....unless Rodwell leaves, which is very possible (I'd say Fellaini too but he plays the defensive midfield role as opposed to the attacking). If Moyes wants him I suspect Yak would be involved as part of an exchange... Anyway, it's in the Daily Fail. I'd take it with less than a pinch of salt.

Surely King's more of a long-term replacement for Cahill than anything.
NSNO1878 Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Surely King's more of a long-term replacement for Cahill than anything. Rodwell has filled that role pretty well while Cahill has been out to be honest. As I said though, it's possible Rodwell will be gone in the summer and then yes, we would definitely need a replacement for Cahill. Though I guess if Fellaini goes (again, its possible) then Rodwell could be moved back. Anyway, we have greater priorities than this position so I don't see much in it.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Cahill is irreplacible for any team but if any one can do it King can. Doesn't quite have the same leap as Super Tim but then again no one does
Corky Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 He was always going to be linked with bigger clubs, but he seems settled here and enjoying his football.
blueredswed Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Good Lord, I can't wait until the morning when this thread gets picked up. Unless they offer silly money (real silly) Sven n the Thais ain't gonna let him go. I like youre inlay in this! Everton have not the money and perhaps not in PL next season (but I guess they stll are)
Guest BlueBrett Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Everton surely can't afford him and I just can't see King and Cahill in the same team. They would make all the same runs and get in each others' way. What happened with the renegotiation of Kingy's contract anyway? Still ongoing?
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 He'd be a fool to go anywhere other than a top 6 premiership team and, for the moment at least, he'd be a fool to go there because he wouldn't get in any of their teams. But I do worry that he'll get tempted in the summer if we don't get promoted. This. I think he's best placed where he is for the moment. If he went to a top 6 club he wouldn't get in the team & may well be loaned back out to a championship team. If he went to a premier league team any further down, he might as well stay with us, considering the personnel & financial backing we have now. There's a chance he'll be playing Premier League football with us next season anyway & if not next year then the season after. The infrastructure seems to be in place here now to allow us to really push on if we do get promoted so I think staying with us, where everyone love him as well, is his best bet. I'm not overly worried about this myself. If we do go up, I'd be massively surprised if he left us.
Fox92 Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Can't see him being good enough for the Premiership at the minute, never mind a side like Everton. His goalscoring is good, and he's in the right place at the right time which is good for when the ball drops for him to pop in a goal but he just is to inconsistant. He hardly tackels and he weaves in and out of games, plus, his short simple play isn't good enough at times. Don't get me wrong I like Andy King but I don't think he's ready for a higher level. Leicester is the best place for him at the moment.
Foxybeaver Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 I hope this isn't true, we need him. Is this true
Aleksz Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Include a link/source next time please. Everton after Andy King Edit: just seen the other thread.
MikeyT Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 I wouldn't worry yourselves to much about this.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Silly money only, silly money that Everton don't have. If we do get promoted, it's almost certainly off the cards. which probably means we wont have yakubu
Jackirius Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Didn't know if it was topic worthy or if it has been posted. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=186766664695734&oid=380956516472&comments
dannythefox Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 If Andy King goes anywhere it will be a better club than Everton if Charlie Adams worth 10-15million then Andy Kings worth the same!
Jakemoore Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Probably meant this Moreno Nah he meant our Moreno but I can't see it happening anyway, although he's reliable ::
vandamman Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Everton have very little money to play with, even if they sell I doubt they would be able to afford King at 6mill, current market value. Also, even if Yakubu was involved, sven would be mad to swap king for him. While Everton is the sort of club I imagine he would go to, I doubt this will happen now or even next season. Although, King does have a good attitude and is a top bloke by all accounts you have to be careful saying 'he will never move from City, he's committed' as i'm sure many fans have said that about local boys in the past and have been surprised at their reaction.

Dont want to see him go though
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 What's the name of that song in the video of King and Bamba? Annoying me so much, know what the bugger is.
funkyrobot Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Don't worry, if kingy leaves we'll still have Oakley banging in the goals from midfield
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 What's the name of that song in the video of King and Bamba? Annoying me so much, know what the bugger is. Yes!!! Bloc Party - SRXT!!! Now I can sleep tonight.
Joe. Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Something in the Liverpool Daily Post about this as well, definitely something there. I'm fairly confident he's enjoying his football here a lot at the moment and isn't even considering going anywhere soon. The goals are flowing, the captaincy is with him and the team is doing well. Hopefully we can crack on with these contract negotiations and stop any more speculation before the summer.
Daveaway Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 Even better now. Forest, Celtic and Swansea are waiting in the wings for Andy King. Utter rubbish. Where some of these people get these rumours.
Starkwell Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 It's a sad time for sports journalism when, with no real substance, so-called respectable newspapers can just randomly link players to clubs. The report reads as if Everton have decided they want him and so it is only a matter of time before he goes. It makes you wonder what influence it has over player's careers. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the work of Kingy's agent, trying to squeeze a few more sovs out of the Thai's....
