LestaFox92 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Think claridge needs his head lookin at how are we in anway repeating what we did last year? didn't even have sven this time last year.
SMX11 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I was listening to this the other night and I was very disappointing in the way he condemned us this season just because of one game he saw last season. He is right that we overpaid for Matt Mills but it is peanuts if we get promoted. His logic is completely baffling.

He wasn't for sale & he hadn't stated a desire to leave, in that situation it's impossible not to overpay, it's just you have to, to create the circumstances needed for him to join us and it also ensured we were the only club in running (with wolves initial bid being rejected) so it didn't become a long drawn out bidding war which would have risen to these levels anyway
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Whatever his issues with Sven, Claridge deserves a lot better than to be dissed on here by a bunch of kiddies who clearly have no understanding of his part in City's history. He did tarnish it all a bit by turning into a whiny twat towards the end. I seem to remember him moaning about getting dropped and saying something along the lines of if he was recalled 'it just wouldn't be the same', whatever that means

I was there when he shinned it and it brought me great joy, but in no way does he deserve immunity from criticism when he's making stupid, ill-informed, nonsensical and inflammatory comments about the club at a time when we're trying to build our profile in order to attract top players. The guy makes an idiotic pundit. He's like a drunk donkey in a swimming pool: limbs flailing around all over the place while an uncontrollable stream of utter tosh spews from his venomous posterior. I imagine they probably have him tied down in his chair at the studio to stop his wildly swinging arms from breaking things. He reminds me a lot of Paul Gascoigne or the late Michael Jackson - you always got the feeling that there was a terrible disaster just waiting to happen; that these people can only be contained from their own stupidity for so long before it all comes gushing out in one horrible nightmarish incident. Gazza and MJ can be forgiven of course because they're geniuses but Claridge, he was just a decent 2nd tier striker, there's nothing genius about him at all, and why he is even employed as a pundit must go down as one of the biggest mysteries in football.

But i agree with you ......and i said in a previous post ....i'm sure Sven and the boys will make him eat his words .........so ignore him now and remind him when we've got promoted !!!! WardyisPukka Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 two words - shocking pundit! did it for us great player and all that but if he hasnt got anything constructive to say dont say it! i just dont get sven - why dont u get him steve explain thats what makes a good pundit giving reasons and explanations! thick idiot!
cornish fox Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Like a lot of people, that goal was probably my happiest single moment on a football pitch so in no way do I have an axe to grind where he's concerned. That piece on 5 live this week in particular though was vitriolic even for him - who has been very critical of us/Sven in the past. "I'm still not convinced by Sven tactically" - sorry Steve but I would take Sven's management and tactical acumen over yours 100 times out of 100. Like others have said, it makes me wonder whether he has some unknown agenda about Sven and/or Leicester. Very poor pundit as well, as others have mentioned he seems to be employed for his ability to say something that people disagree with and will therefore phone 606 about. Slightly left field but he reminds me of Morrissey An absolute hero of mine at one point in my life but now, when I hear them talk, I realise they're a tw@. G'won Leicester!
Mack Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I think you have two forces in effect here... 1/ For some reason he hates Sven. 2/ He is bitter about his own managerial career. Claridge is my second favourite player after Lineker, but I have to agree at times as a pundit he falls into tabloid stereotype traps.
gazfox9 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Sorry to say, loved him here as a player, but, as a pundit all he does is remind me of Jimmy Greaves.
Wymsey Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Just a grumpy middle aged bloke chatting bullshit. Hated seeing his grim face on the FLS.
Bayfox Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I was at Wembley when he shinned that winner although I did only see it as hit hit the back of the net as I was discussing the intro of the Spider with a bloke a row behind me, and I was there as Hillsborough as well and to think the player that brought regular premiership football and the chance to see european football however brief to Filbert St. Should now have such rubbish to speak about My club saddens me, he obviously holds some bitterness towards LCFC. Yet the Irony is that on other forums, fans thing the FL show is a Leicester love in with him and manish. Yet it would seem we aren't too keen on old super steve as a pundit.
