Don't Panic

Are you actually a Leicester fan?

I swear nothing you ever post is positive.

He's just a sad bastard desperately seeking attention. Best to just ignore him.

At fault for the goal, never once came out to claim a corner and constantly thew the ball to PVA/Naughton when they were under pressure.

Hardly a good game.

Yeah, because you would have loved him to come out for a corner when he shouldn't have done

Don't people constantly moan when the goalkeeper just launches the ball up top and we lose possession? "Keep the ball on the ****ing floor" etc.

He can't win.

Its not time to panic, but it is time for many fans, especially on here, along with maybe some of the players, to realise that we arent as good as we think we are.

I know Sven has done well, and we have surged up the league, but lately I am getting a bit bewildered by his team selections and obvious favourites that he constantly plays. Yes he is the manager, and who am I to question him? But he is choosing his players over players who were already at the club which cant be having a good effect on other players.

First example is Weale. Very good keeper, who could be slightly better at long shots, but otherwise has proved himself to be a keeper who is decent enough at this level at least. Sven decides to bring in Kirkland for him, and despite being shite in his first couple of games, he sticks with Kirkland until he gets injured and Weale has to play. At that point I hope he has realised what a good keeper is and how there is no point brining in another one. Ricardo comesin, who couldnt get a game for a Second division Spanish side, yet despite Weale plying well in the last few games, instantly comes in for him, but like Kirkland, being generally shite. But we all know Ricardo is going to play vs QPR. Sven clearly doesnt rate Weale which can only demoralise him.

Secondly is Berner. Very steady performer who will always at least have a decent game. Very experienced and a much loved fans favourite. He plays fairly well yet Sven brings in Cunningham who is decent enough, but no better than Berner. Maybe a bit quicker and more attacking, but with Naughton on the otherside, we had two full backs who are great at attacking, and do the defending second to it. Cunningham towards his last few games didnt play well at all, certainly at Millwall and home to Leeds. Berner comes back in when Cunningham picks up a ad injury, he scores vs Swansea and doesnt do anything wrong. Yet PVA gets signed and walks straight into the team, despite Brun even signing a new contract after saying he wanted to leave. PVA has had one average game at best. Cant shoot and cant cross, whereas we all know Bruno can. If you have an opposition winger runnign down your wing, who do you want to be defending it, Berner or PVA? Bruno every time for me. So yet why does PVA get in the team? Because like Ricardo, he is Sven's signing and clearly one of his favourites.

Mee and Bruma are another example. Yes we needed a defender in, but not two. Hobbs hasnt been as good as last season, but not many players were really, so you think after playing with Bamba against the likes of Man City and doing well that would be a good central defence partnership. But no, Hobbs wasnt Sven signing so he has to go, brining in Mee firstly who got better after a poor first game. So you then think that hopefully Sven will stick with Mee and not change it again for no reason, but that was too good to be trube, and Bruma comes in. Like PVA from a big Prem club when really like PVA he is defnitely no better than any of the defenders we havehad in the middle all this season. But he gets played as Sven signed him, and cant be seen to get things wrong again like he did with Kirkland.

Surely all this changing of players and fiddling with the team can do nothing but alienate players from last season who were very good for us? The likes of Weale, Hobbs and Berner. I would prefer having all three of them back in for their current replacements.

I do trust Sven, and can only praise what he has done so far, but I just hope he hasnt 'over egged the pudding' with bringing in so many more players that he wants, rather than doing it more slowly.

But we'll see, I'm still hoping that Berner at least comes in for QPR as I can see us conceding 2 or 3 otherwise.

im going to start by saying im not one of the fans who sings weale during the game but ricardo needs to improve. Im crapping myself everytime we concede a corner or free kick around our area fearing what his mind will tell him to do next. Then there is the risky passes out altho i love the confidence one day its gonna back fire and give away a easy goal. Leicester can give you heart attacks anyway without a flapping keeper if you was the qpr scout your report would say lot of crosses into the box.

Having gone to Man City home and away I can confirm that Hobbs did not play well against City. The rationale behind dropping Mee and bringing in Bruma is, I assume, the extra height which Bruma has. Against more physical sides Bruma is the better option.

If we beat QPR, then all is fine. From these 2 games (Cov and QPR) I expected 4 points max and would have accepted 3, but obviously I expected a win against Cov and draw/loss at QPR. Should we pull it off at Loftus Road then everything will be pretty much as I hoped it to be, albeit in an unexpected fashion.

Do you honestly think we will beat QPR?

I am going and I'd give us a 20% chance of getting all three points if the team selection remains the same.

Why not? Watford did. This is football remember.

But with that kind of attitude, we would never win.

I'm not one for blind optimism.

There are a couple of things that need sorting in my eyes and without that we are most likely to shoot ourselves in the foot.

I'll hapily eat my words if we go into next week's game with the same team and come out with 3 points, but I just cant see it.

I'm really hoping Sven sorts it out before then!

If you read my original post properly you'll notice that I said I expect at most a draw at QPR.

I like your definition of blind optimism.

there is nothing actually wrong with the team selection.. the players just need to be on there game..

imo theres no one to swap to make the team better actually... maybe mee/bruma could be debatable but thats it

Why not? We play to our best, they have an off day, we could well get the points.

They aren't actually any better than us, in fact on our day we are the best team in this league.

But all the chopping and changing, most of which has been necessary, has made us blow hot and cold.

And it's a tad chilly at the moment.

Here's hoping for a warm front moving in.

They're first, we're 7th. They're better.

In the last two games we haven't been clinical with our chances, yes Ricardo should have done better with their goal but his overall display wasn't as bad as people make out. The problem has been that the likes of Wellens, Gallagher, King etc have dropped in form at the same time. When the spine of the team is playing under par then you are going to struggle to win. Wellens was better against Cov but King and Galley were rather average, these are the players that make us tick.
