Firstly that's slightly xenophobic

Don't be stupid.

Firstly that's slightly xenophobic. Also Birmingham did indeed have more English players in the starting line up, 5, which isn't mostly English, in fact their team is mostly foreign.

And your last point about glory supporters crying, you'd have to be a pretty shit glory supporter to support Arsenal.

I don't think there's anything wrong with favouring a team because they have more British players.

I guess so but there are a few who support Arsenal for no reason other than their success (I know some). I always like seeing Liverpool and Man U beaten for the same reason.

Of course it is. Only wanting English players to win trophies isn't xenophobic?

Oh I love seeing Man Utd lose because of the glory hunters, but they are literally everywhere. As are the Liverpool ones, but I pity them a little now  Arsenal ones are very few and far between in my experience. I know at least 10-15 Man Utd and Liverpool fans from Leicester, and I know 1 Arsenal fan.

I generally favour teams full of English players, purely because its good for the national team ..

So a team full of shit English players playing because they are English is good for the national team?

I'd rather youngsters sat watching that final today would want to improve their technical ability to that of the likes of van Persie, Nasri and Wilshere, than thinking just commitment is enough. It's ok being committed and putting everything in, but if we really want to improve we have to improve our ability with the ball.

No it's not. It's fact.

They just won a major cup...

I just prefer old fashioned English clubs like Brum, Wolves etc to teams like Arsenal who are full of Frenchies. It's kind of like supporting British athletes at the Olympics.

Didn't say Birmingham were shit, but your saying you'd rather see a team full of English players no matter how good rather than the best team possible. I want the best players at Leicester for instance, other than just English ones. This season we've sold a young English striker and bought in a 28 year old Nigerian. I don't think many City fans are begging for us to resign Fryatt and start him over 4 goals in 7 games Yakubu. Our national team isn't struggling because Wenger signs Nasri etc, it's struggling because we think the likes of Carrick are good enough. Until we start producing a few Nasri and Fabregas' of our own we're going nowhere, so I for one am glad these players have graced our shores, because it's the like of them that are helping the like of Wilshere come through.

The only reason I would prefer those teams you list above is because the fans are starved of success and it's nice to see them win something for a change. And you know it means something to all of them because they're true fans rather than glory hunters.

Christ for once I'm on acooling's side. Nowt wrong with wanting home-grown players to do better than imports.

Another reason to hate Arsenal. Birmingham had 3 (?) players who were non-British that started. Arsenal had 10. I just hate the arrogance of them. Just because they play decent football, they think they've got the right to win everything.

Were the Arsenal fans singing for Almunia? No.

On the subject of non British players thing:

The non British players are ruining the game in the way of diving etc. Take a look at Nani, he is the biggest cheat I have ever seen. It shouldn't happen.

I hate it when top sides ignore potential English players and look to non British players, that are rubbish, instead. I mean, Manchester United are always being linked with non British players yet I always think with their reserves (players like Tom Cleverley etc) Ferguson should be looking there instead of abroad.

Two of my friends play for Sheffield Wednesday. One of which has done very well to claim the number 29 shirt and break into the first team at 19 years of age. I tell him whenever I see him in town or whatever. But, his opportunities may be cut short in the higher divisions because of teams looking at non British players. Thats why I have a soft spot for teams like West Ham, how many players have they produced for football? From Bobby Moore all the way through to Mark Noble. Also, I like how Birmingham looked to buy Roger Johnson and Scott Dann instead of poor non British players. In my opinion, Johnson could get in any Premiership side.

However, when top quality non British players play I don't have a problem. Its a pleasure for any football fan to watch the likes of Dennis Bergkamp (who I think is the greatest player to ever play in the Prem), Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Didier Drogba, Cesc Fabregas etc

But, when poor non British players play in the Premiership I think its horrible. Look at Wigan, how many poor non British players have they got? I know that statement is a bit unfair but thats how I feel.

Besides, Arsenal play the best football in the division. I find it hard how any football fan wouldn't enjoy watching that football...

Two things.

1) No English player has ever dived. EVER. (Stevie G does a really good job of not diving at least once a week)

2) Whilst I agree with the general sentiment, clubs wouldn't have to look abroad if the prices for English players weren't so vastly over inflated. The clubs can see that they can get the same standard of player if not slightly better for much much much less than their respective English counterpart.

I know. I didn't say English players dive, I was reffering to the likes of Nani. He totally annoys me because he is down every minute. But diving is not the only form of cheating, look at Wayne Rooney elbowing James McCarthy on Saturday! That was disgraceful. Anyway, they have dived. I have seen Rooney dive a time or two.

And I slightly agree with the second part, but it just annoys me that a lot of poor non British players are in the country.

To be fair to Wenger, I think he's taken a lot of that criticism on board - there's far fewer foreign talents in his accademy now.

He's done wonders for Ramsey, Wilshere and Walcott and there's still the likes of Murphy, Watt, Lansbury, Emmanuel-Thomas, Hoyte and Eastmond well under progress.

I'm not doubting what he actually does for players. It's what he doesn't do for British football.
