Make the Move to SK1

I would join you but I'm an old git now and the view from SK1 is fairly shocking. Used to go in L1 a few years back and it was superb, different people in there now though...

Acoustics in most new stadiums are awful though, can;t get any real atmosphere going...

Believe it or not, Leicester used to be the loudest fans in the country at one point(Filbert Street days) if you ask me this could happen again.

I hope this does take off, however last time something like this happened(N Block) it died a death almost straight away because of the Club. Leicester did really balls up when we moved to the Walkers by not putting the Kop next to the away fans, its all been said before but now is the time for change.

Good post Fosse Boy, I shall be there for one game this season to see how things get on.

i don't believe this at all :)

but if anyone can prove it, or at least back this statement up with even the most tenuous of evidence , i'd be intrigued to see it :D

I actually remember some sort of report coming out in the late 90's saying Filbo had the highest decibel level in the top flight....

Filbert Street was intimidating though, teams hated playing there and it was worth 10 pts a season.

It's true, proper scientific test done with equipment recording sound levels taken from the side lines of every league football club stated Filbert Street was the loudest. Just proved what we all know, we have the best fans.

Make the move to SK1 – Kop Enders of the World Unite

From reading numerous other threads on this forum it has become very clear indeed that there is widespread disillusion with the atmosphere in L1, as well as counter-arguments that those who prefer to stand and sing in the Kop are too spread out to make any real impact. Let’s face it, the vast majority of the time our new ground is deathly silent – the complete opposite to how a home atmosphere should be.
To combat this, we need to stop moaning, start uniting and start acting. So if you are fed up with the fact that an embarrassingly low proportion of people joing in with “When You’re Smilingâ€, “Bring on the Sunderland and Arsenal†or any of the other chants that we as Leicester fans should be proud to belt out for ninety minutes and beyond every home game – now is the time to make the move to SK1.
Presently, any like-minded groups of supporters who want to stand and sing are too far spaced out to make a difference, but if we unite and get a good block together in one corner of the stadium there’s nothing that can stop us from finally achieving the home atmosphere we deserve.
What we want is people to move their season tickets (and match tickets) from L and K as well as SK2, 3 and 4 so that we can have a solid block of standers and singers together. It’s common sense that it’s easier to get an atmosphere going if we are spreading downwards rather than having just a few rows in every block, so now is the time for us to make this happen.
- SK1 is cheaper than L1/K and is also not season ticket only, making it easier for those who can’t afford STs but want to contribute to a positive home atmosphere to do so when possible
- You don’t have to buy into the Fosse Boys mentality in terms of what we are doing to join this project, we just want people who want to stand and sing for 90 minutes
- Yes, if you move from L/K you may miss out on banter with the away fans and banter is great when it’s genuinely witty, but from my own experience in L1 over previous years 90% of it is simply generic rubbish like “who are ya†“your support is f***ing shit†– hardly the revival of the kind of atmoshpere that made this country’s fans famous for their passion and wit once upon a time
- You may argue that stewards will clamp down on any such move, but if we are united we are strong. We all know stewards and officials at the club have no argument when it comes to standing being a safety issue and if we all stand together we can’t be defeated
- Even if you have already renewed in another area of the ground it is easy to move your season ticket at any time, and the ticket office will refund the difference too if SK1 is cheaper than the area you’re presently in
- Even if you just move for one game between now and the end of this season, surely it has to be worth trying out?

So, take this chance to do something brilliant. To finally give this bowl we call home some of the spirit that Filbert Street had, to really make the South Stand a “Kop†and to regain Leicester’s reputation as a lound vibrant home atmosphere.
Don’t just say “I’ll do it when everyone else does itâ€, be part of it now!

WTF! If I wanted to sing for ninety minutes, I wouldn't go to a football match to do it..

Bloody kids!

this is correct to a point, I think it was nestle or some, company anyway, decided to do a poll measuring the noise levels at all premiership grounds, during MON era I think i'm right in saying and although not the Loudest as such, when the took the results against the bigger grounds such as old trafford, st james park etc, we actually topped the poll as we reached similar levels to these grounds despite having a 3rd of the attendance of some of those clubs.

I remember this:

That's a cop-out.

Stoke seem to do OK at their ground, which is only five years older than ours and isn't even fully enclosed.

Correction - the Kop at Filbert Street was the loudest.

Very little noise was ever heard from the family club end, one of the smallest stands ever to witness top flight football.

The kop really has a shite atmosphere for 80% off games!!

Seen many children with their grannies, grandpa's (look like it lol) so this is probably a factor in the silence of the kop.

For me its a no brainer. I hate sitting down at games, and its guarenteed in l block that you can stand. I've been in the kop many a time and its not always the case.

Plus in l block, the view is much better, and you get the banter with the away fans too.

Whats the price difference between l block and the kop?

The bad points in l block is the drum and the fact that some of our chants from certain fans are shite. (Ring of fire a prime example)

If we're going to have a drum I wish jobber would take note on what 'songs' we think he should avoid. Though I bet i'm in the minority regarding hating Ring of Fire (and that clappy thing he gets going at free kicks)
