ozleicester Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 never an eddie spotter myself, but a legend in industry none the less. RIP is Eddie spotting a game? when we arrived here in 2009 and spent 4 weeks driving round the country we developed a game of shouting EDDIE! whenever a a stobart truck came into view. Even to this day every trip contains a number of Eddie shouts. (, i even showed the top of this post to the missus and shouted EDDIE ) We assumed this was a game only we played.. but maybe not, how amazing.

Each truck has an individual girls name painted between the windscreen washer blades. I think you can get a book of all the names from the late Eddie to tick each one off. Its a bit like trainspotting.
Zingari Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 RIP Eddie One day you're operating the dead man's brake Next day you're off on a dead man's break a "dead man's brake" is a term used by lorry drivers for the emergency brake

Shockingly we used to do that as a game when we were kids to keep us entertained in the car on long journeys (the days before mp3 players!!). The only twist on ours was looking out the elusive DOUBLE EDDIE where two trailers were being pulled! Happy times!
jonthefox Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 They've made a film about his life. Ive just seen the trailor

MikeyT Posted 7 April 2011 Posted 7 April 2011 Only just seen this! No matter where i drive in the country, it's more than likely i'll see one of Eddie's lorries. R.I.P. big guy.
BoneDog Posted 7 April 2011 Posted 7 April 2011 I used to play the Eddie Stobart game when I was a young un. Didn't now that each lorry had a different ladies name on the front though, I just thought you had to spot a lorry and that was it. Used to love it when I saw one and would do the old 'pull the horn' movement while shouting 'BERMMMMMMM BERMMMMMMMMMM'. It made my day if the driver honked the horn back.
