Libertine Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Think it'll be closer than some polls suggest, especially after Blunkett admitted to the No camp producing utter lies regarding cost etc. Still has no chance of going through though I'm afraid.
ousefox Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 If i'd have had the chance, i probably would have voted no in the end.
FoxyPV Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Voted Yes. There's a BNP candidate standing in our council elections - beyond disgusted!! It's almost not worthwhile voting in my constituency as it is one of the safest seats in the UK. <_<
Fosse Boy Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Under FPTP I vote for Conservative. Under AV I'd vote 1 Conservatives 2 BNP 3 Lib Dem 4 Labour Which would you lefties rather have me do? You utter utter cunt. Of course everyone who hates the BNP is by default a massive lefty. disabled. Hope you won't be complaining when they deport Lloyd or Darius, coz that's what they'd do if they got in power. You could of course just put Tories as your first preferences and leave it at that?
act smiley Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Would have voted yes, but got mixed up and thought it was tomorrow
Jimmy Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 voted no, I would vote for PR but Av seems like the Lib Dems just trying to fix it so they are always in a coalition seeing as they would probably be the second or 3 choice of most
Finnegan Posted 6 May 2011 Author Posted 6 May 2011 voted no, I would vote for PR but Av seems like the Lib Dems just trying to fix it so they are always in a coalition seeing as they would probably be the second or 3 choice of most I would guess that you won't get PR in your lifetime if we vote No.
Jimmy Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 I would guess that you won't get PR in your lifetime if we vote No. I don't think the system which elects MP's is the problem, what is is that we have a bunch of career politicians who work in politics from the moment they leave Uni now instead of what used to happen where people from business, medicine and law plus blue collar sectors would go into it after experiencing life and just having basic knowledge of the real world meant they could connect with voters and encourage people to actually bother voting in the 1st place. FPTP isn't in itself a problem the problem is not enough people vote, but IMO if you don't (assuming you are over 18) you have no right to complain when things happen you don't like. Make participation compulsory and then when people know they HAVE to vote they will force themselves to take a more active interest
acooling08 Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Can someone explain PR for me? I understand FPTP and AV btw.
Fosse Boy Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Can someone explain PR for me? I understand FPTP and AV btw. Basically parties get a direct proportion of the seats related to the number of votes they got regionally or nationally, so good news for you - Nick Griffin's White Army might stand a chance...
LCFC-Sam Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Voted Yes Can't believe how bad its doing though, at the minute its: Yes - 498,544 No - 1,172,190
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Well, David Cameron and the hard right will be happy! A no vote will have played into his hands! Expect a Lib. Dem. backlash now on the Tories N.H.S. policy. Cameron has done himself no favours by calling for a NO vote on A.V., and it will serve him right.
Libertine Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Not even close. Would be lovely if the Lib Dems could grow a backbone sometime soon. God knows they've nothing left to lose.
Fosse Boy Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 I bet a referendum on a genuine change such as PR would've been a helluvalot closer. Wish the media would stop saying voters have "chosen to keep" FPTP by the way. That's not the question we were asked on the ballot paper. It's not our fault AV is a piss poor crock of shit.
Jimmy Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 Well, David Cameron and the hard right will be happy! A no vote will have played into his hands! Expect a Lib. Dem. backlash now on the Tories N.H.S. policy. Webbo Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 I don't know why Nick Clegg is getting the blame for this, Ed Milliband made himself poster boy for this referendum. If you add the collapse in Labours vote in Scotland and worse than expected results in England why hasn't he had a breath of criticism?
l444ry Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 I don't know why Nick Clegg is getting the blame for this, Ed Milliband made himself poster boy for this referendum. If you add the collapse in Labours vote in Scotland and worse than expected results in England why hasn't he had a breath of criticism? Probably because Labour gained 800 seats......
FoxyPV Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 Clegg needs to resign. He needs to take responsibility for the mire that he has led his party into.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 he said when the coalition was formed he'd be backing the no campaign so the Lib Dems knew where they stood anyway He was not in favour of it, but stated.he would not actively influence the vote, which he in fact did. That was the cornerstone of the Lib. Dem. Alliance with the Tories. Just in case you think I am a Lib Dem, you are wrong...I am a U.K.I.P. supporter.
