pablos111 Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Anyone get caught up in the FC Betz farce yesterday..... FCBetz the so called LCFC partner failed to pay out around 100+ supporters after the match yesterday after apparently running out of money "after the shock result" (their statement not mine). After some deliberation with FC betz senior personnel we were told basically to just claim online, my thoughts and others that surely place your bet in cash collect in cash. After a well controlled and behaved discussion around 50 or so fans remained and demanded to see a senior Leicester City manager or director but were told that's not going to be possible, until after around 50 mins the FCB representative came back out to say that they had approached the club on the basis that this was the last match and tried to get a sub of around £4000/5000 in order to settle the bets and they would pay it back within 5 hours or so but Leicester City FC had refused. (obviously LCFC have little faith in FCB then why put us fans in the position we have to bet with them). We as a group approached the main reception area with a view to gaining a statement from a director of the club on the situation after an initial unnecessary aggressive response from the security personnel one agreed to pass the message up to someone in authority, the message came back, "we would have to take the matter up with FC Betz as it was nothing to do with the club". To put this into perspective there were fans that have been loyal to this club from a far away as South Wales yes you read it right South Wales just wanting their rightly earned winnings, one fan from Nottingham who was 1st in the queue with his £1000 claim and told you will have to go to the back of the queue because if he paid him there may not be enough money for the other smaller winners. There were fans who didnt even own a computer who couldn't possibly claim online anyway. All in all surely this club owes its fans a responsibility of assuring that their so called partners can provide the fans of the club with 100% service and if that means taking a security deposit of say £10,000 off FCB in order to sort these problems in the future then so be it, at least if it had been Ladbrokes (who served the club well) then we could have walked to their nearest shop 500 yds up the road. Signed One of many badly let down fans
ithuriel Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 FC betz should really be removed from the club then if they can not cover the bets in my opinion, or peeps should bet elsewhere so they have little to no business .
Thracian Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 But Leicester City should take some responsibility for ensuring they have reputable people trading under their umbrella. I was concerned about the changes in the first place and have never used FC Betz. I'm having the same trouble with Barclays over a house contents claim. They won't pay out either and their service has been appalling. Ombudsman next.
Kilworthfox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 FC Betz have had a shocker there! I think the club must come up with a policy to deal with this occurance. In short not paying out is not acceptable. How will you claim your winnings?

Well I have had to register my personal details and debit card details and claim online not sure how long it takes though, will let you know, didn't want to risk keeping slip until next season there would be some clause no doubt that I didn't claim within the specified time or something. Just wonder how we bring this to the attention of the board or the media for that matter do they ever find out about these practices from their so called partners, or do they even care! Anyway Ladbrokes for me in future.
m00nie Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Would love to know what the winning £1000 bet was think someone said £20 on 4.2 how city can use an online only bookie amazes me.. they must have offered some big back hander to get the deal or something.. hope those that were involved chase it up more so it gets looked at and just not brushed off over the summer..
Leicester Lass Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 They have apologised on the OS. Could have proof-read what they had written before publishing though, http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2355082,00.html

Could have proof-read what they had written before publishing though, http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2355082,00.html What a shame they couldn't have acknowledged our problem in person though it wasn't as if it was a disorderly or noisy stand off it was very civilised and orderly, a show from management would have gone a long way I believe. The guy with the £1000 claim had £20 4-2 @ 50.1 a couple of guys had £5 on the same, me I only had £3 for a £150 return there were a lot of £1's for £50 back and good for them sad thing they couldn't get their hands on the money. It really is not good enough they knew this was the last game of the season so why didn't they bring in extra cash? It not only makes FC Betz look bad but brings LCFC into disrepute too. (in my opinion)
adamg Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 My dad put a pound on king to score first and Leicester to win 4-2. He went to collect his winnings only to be one of many disappointed winners. He registered online, entered his code only to have a response of "unfortunately you have not won this time". He rang head office and is still waiting for them to get back to him. I agree with bringing back ladbrokes. They were excellent and convenient with many local shops around. Also with them you could bet on last goalscorer as well which keeps the bet more exciting through to the end!

Why should you be put in a position to spend time and money on phone calls anyway. You bet in cash you want your winnings in cash, if you bet online then you expect your winnings paid online, Simples!

Management from who though? As already stated, the problem is essentially nothing to do with the football club, and I imagine that there are no FCBetz employees working at the Walkers who have any kind of authority whatsoever. It is a complete farce, I agree, but at the end of the day everyone will get their money and the employees probably did everything they possibly could at the time, such as telling you alternative ways of collecting your winnings. If they've got no money left there's not a lot else they could've done.

They shouldn't accept bets on the day they haven't got the resources to cover, they're a betting company someone somewhere should have a calculator to work it out. As for the other options they're simple not good enough, if you bought some goods from a shop in town you wouldn't expect to have to go somewhere else to pick them up. Irresponsible management.

I don't disagree with anything you've said. What I eluded to in my original post was that the employees there at the time did everything they could have done. It's a massive error from the company, no doubting that, but as I assume there was no managerial figure at the Walkers Stadium, the employees acted appropriately. It's not their responsibility to ensure that all bases are covered.

Well I believe the problem is to do with the club as the LCFC advertisers FCBetz as one of its partners in crime then surely it has some responsibility to make sure fans are getting what they pay for? I don't believe there would have been a problem had it still been Ladbrokes or even Wm Hills Corals or whoever from the high st as one could have easily just produced their slip in a shop and got paid, no problem. Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned for the club here, take note LCFC. We had no personal greivience with FCB's staff at all 'Leicester lass' in fact they dealt with situation admirably to be honest, but of course they were also in a no win situation. Update on the claim, I have had confirmation of claim accepted just waiting to get monies into online account up to 48 hours it say, then withdraw back to debit card.
AndyBrew Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Management from who though? As already stated, the problem is essentially nothing to do with the football club I would disagree I think the football club would be making good money out of the arrangement and thus should show some responsibility where it's customers are concerned not some poxy online statement a day later!

foxoffderby Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I put a bet on a few months ago with FC Betz for Leicester to win can't remember what game now, anyway they were more than willing to take my money at the booth but at full time when I came to collect they had vanished. I was told by one the stewards I had to go somewhere outside to get my money. I didn't have time for that so I left it until the next game. The point is that never use to happen when Ladbrookes were around you shouldn't have to wait. I no longer bet with them stick with Ladbrokes and Billy Hills etc at least you are guranteed a return. Also Ladbrookes had a whole team looking after you with Betz there is 1 person trying to do the lot, it can be touch and go if you even get to place a bet at busy times just before kickoff. FC Betz are a disgrace.
Bert Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Why do you think we changed from the perfectly reliable Ladbrokes? ££££££££££££££££££.
ta-fc Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 mate of mines a ST holder and bet with FCBetz a few times, on the two occasions he's won this season there has been noone in the kiosk after the game and he's had to wait till the following week to collect... Its only ever been 20/30 winnings but its not the point! The club chooses the partners inside its stadium so subsequently has some responsibility to those fans who place there trust in said partners...

I know FC Betz are no Ladbrokes but it does state after the game that winnings should be collected from the sub ticket office near West Stand i believe.

I understand it is only certain kiosk's open to collect at the end of matches, i'm not sure which ones (It does say on the betting slip I think). You mate may have gone to these certain kiosk's, if thats the case it's unacceptable but if he didn't then thats obviously why no-one was in the kiosk.
Karljohn Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 They were shit at the start of the season running out of slips and coupons, clueless staff etc. Havent gone anywhere near them since, look like a cheap outfit and certainly behave like one.
ta-fc Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 sorry should have made that a little clearer yes he'd gone to the specified kiosks and there was no service... Naturally he (nor the rest of us) use them!
vandamman Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Also, the staff apart from the regular bold bloke are a bit useless, not complaining but the woman on the desk a couple of weeks gave me £35 quid when my winnings were only £10 Not surprised they were having money issues with that kind of service.
