Was originally planning to go to Sweden for the pre season tour, but got priced out of it slightly.. So I'm off to Morocco (Marrakech) in July for a week. Anyone ever been, and if so, any recommendations what to do whilst out there? I've already got quad biking in the desert and a camel trek lined up Also, any tips on their culture? Obviously they're not too keen on alcohol, but I assume the hotel shall be fine for this. Where's everyone else off to this summer?

Beuatiful mountains and several amazing waterfalls there also! In Marrakech you'll probably spend most of your time in Jama Al Fannah, the main square. Lots of market stalls and entertainment at night. Also try a Turkish bath and massage, very relaxing! I would warn you about the little children who ask for money, while they look sweet and innocent, they work together, once they see you give money to them, they will hound you for your entire stay.

Haydos Posted 30 May 2011 Posted 30 May 2011 Nowhere exotic this year, bought a massive telly with my holiday money. Whooops. Off on a canal boat around the countryside with about 10 mates from uni for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. Went last summer and the weather was gorgeous so hoping for something similar this time. Definitely recommend it, got up everyday about 8am, bed about midnight, lounging around in the sun, perching of the end of the boat with legs in the water, on the beer from 10am everyday, pub stops, bbq's.....Great laugh. It's my mates parents boat but I've heard you can rent them out for quite cheap if there's a fair few of you. Less than a tenner a day per person if there was 10 of you.

James. Posted 30 May 2011 Posted 30 May 2011 Try to plan more stuff to do outside of Marrakech as you'll probably only really want to spend about 2-3 days there maximum. Outside of the main square (which is absolutely fantastic - a modern wonder of the world) there isn't really THAT much to do. Alcohol is quite hard to come by but we managed to find a hotel that served. As someone already mentioned the Atlas mountains are stunning and well worth a trip if you have time. I spent a week trekking round there but you could probably get a taster over 2-3 days. As for me I've got 2 weeks of mountaineering in the Alps in July including climbing Mont Blanc and then potentially 10 days travelling around Greece later in the year. Can't wait.

Also popped to Estonia and Latvia a month ago for a cheeky five day trip (with a 150 minute long trip to Finland). I'm going to Sweden for a long weekend at the same time Leicester are out there, but the big trip is India for three weeks in October (with a three day stop in Dubai/Abu Dhabi on the way). Next year a mate and I have plans to drive to Libya so I can see where my dad grew up and also as a send off to his 20 year old car. Hope to go through Europe, then on through Turkey/Syria/Lebanon/Jordan (and Israel if possible), then Egypt and through to Tripoli. We just need things to die down in about half of those countries. Some people are so selfish with their uprisings

If i can do that or at least get close i will be seeing the mighty Aussie cricket team play in the West Indies and then backpack from Mexico City down to Panama City. Then Vegas and LA. So pretty much going to be living like a hermit for a while and not going out and not drinking for a while. Will be worth it tho.
