I went skiing in Val Thorens in February for a week. Also popped to Estonia and Latvia a month ago for a cheeky five day trip (with a 150 minute long trip to Finland). I'm going to Sweden for a long weekend at the same time Leicester are out there, but the big trip is India for three weeks in October (with a three day stop in Dubai/Abu Dhabi on the way).

Next year a mate and I have plans to drive to Libya so I can see where my dad grew up and also as a send off to his 20 year old car. Hope to go through Europe, then on through Turkey/Syria/Lebanon/Jordan (and Israel if possible), then Egypt and through to Tripoli. We just need things to die down in about half of those countries. Some people are so selfish with their uprisings

NEEEEED HOLIDAY. I'm thinking of a possible to Ireland to break up some of the time.

Had a quick check around, but couldn't see any similar threads.

Was originally planning to go to Sweden for the pre season tour, but got priced out of it slightly..

So I'm off to Morocco (Marrakech) in July for a week. Anyone ever been, and if so, any recommendations what to do whilst out there? I've already got quad biking in the desert and a camel trek lined up lol

Also, any tips on their culture? Obviously they're not too keen on alcohol, but I assume the hotel shall be fine for this.

Where's everyone else off to this summer?

Yeah as people have mentioned the square ( Jemmal F'na) is absolutely quality, like something out of a crazy Indian Jones film, get there at about 6/7pm and have dinner in one of the restaurants that look over and watch it get busier and busier over the night, then go and get invoved!!! If you going into the atlas or up the ourika valley then definately, depending on the weather/ water level, try and get some tubing done, its a great laugh. I think the majority of the snow is melting at the moment so the river is hopefully at a decent level. ( bizarrely in the winter the atlas has the shortest ski season ever). Definately head down to the Kasbah and have a look at the sadian tombs and some of the gardens around there.

Long and short of it we have a small B&B out there, so if you haven't already sorted out accomadation then drop me a PM and ill pass it onto my dad and he can sort you out with accomadation.

I highly recommend Dublin if you're thinking of going with mates. Tons of great bars and plenty to do.

I had a look at the Puerto Del Carmen area and I can't thank you enough. I've found a perfect Aparthotel at the perfect price in the perfect situation, with good reviews. Just need to get a couple of people to become definites and we'll be booking up!

Glad I could help, feel free to give me a shout if you wanna ask anything. Not much to it though, it pretty much does what it says on the tin. Just for reference I was at this place:

La Florida

It was from the harbour in the Old Town area. The bar next door's called Jinty McGinty's and you've gotta go there for happy hour or breakfast after a heavy night if you happen to be anywhere near where I was.

You're never far from anything either, beach, strip and restaurants are all a nice 10 min walk down the hill so you're laughing. Barter with the club reps on the main strip as always, they're always willing to give you a couple of free shots or a cocktail if you say you're just on your way to another bar down the road. Make sure you get em to take you inside though or you might end up paying entry and for stuff you don't want.

Hope it goes to plan

I'm having major problems looking for the destination for a 'lads holiday'.

Inverted commas are used because it isn't exactly a lads holiday that we're after. Yes, we want decent night life, but we don't want anything over the top. We don't want to find ourselves laden with the 'BRITAIN ABROAD!' brigade. After a lot of searching, I've found that holidays are catered either entirely towards families or full on LADS. The family holidays promote a safe atmosphere and good facilities for kids, whilst the latter focusses on a wild night life and all the rest of it.

I am yet to find something in between. I'm beginning to think the requirements of my group of friends make us something of a niche market. We don't want to be among families, void of any night life, but we do not want to be annoyed by the culture of some sections of society attracted to wild 'sun, sea, and sex' holidays. Something with some basic sporting facilities (pool table, football, tennis), and a nice swimming pool area, set slightly apart from the mayhem yet close enough to walk to or pay a small taxi fair for would be ideal. Obviously we accept that wherever we go there is likely to be the odd family with kids, or the odd rowdy crowd, which is fine. As long as we're not completely out of place!

We're not fussy about where we're going, as long as it suits those requirements. Our overall budget including spending money is around the £500 each mark. (Though any more than this would be a stretch.) We're looking at going in September, making this more achievable. There are 6 of us.

Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate help on this. I'm sick of scratching my head, getting frustrated, and staying up until this hour to find nothing better than previously found. The websites I've looked at simply fail to serve what I require of them. I suppose I'll have to make my way down to a high street place if there aren't any suggestions in here, which is a pain given my current circumstances.

Turkey. :)

However, £500 including spending money? Bit optimistic for anywhere abroad isn't it?

Barbados is such a boring place. Nothing to do, and it's so hot and humid it's horrible.

The Lanzarote holiday I mentioned earlier cost me well under £500 for 10 days. Was paying £10pp/pn for really decent apartments with a nice pool. Flights were around £90 return I think (inc extra charges and shiz).

Think my spending money took it up to about £400/£420. Supermarkets are cheap, restaurants aren't much more, bottles of vodka come with change from 5 Euro note and the amount of freebies on a night out means it cost about 20 euros tops.

Put some real groundwork into booking hols and shop around, makes it completely worth it if you're on any kind of budget. With flights as well, check every day and as soon as you see a bargain snap it up, they're changing prices all the time

Well fair enough. The two week holiday I'm going on next month was £460 for accommodation plus flights, and I've saved up £1400 spending money so far lol

Trying to sort a cheap deal out for Me and the Mrs.

Our mortgage is making very hard to find one in budget though!

if you don't mind spur-of-the-moment choices, I'd say pack your case ready to go then try teletext - we had the time booked off, and rang teletext monday teatime, and were leaving for the airport by 6am wednesday morning....saving approx £600 each on what the holiday should have cost us brochure price  and you can always try tripadvisor to have a quick nosey to see what ratings the hotel gets before you agree . I'd definitely do it this way again.

NEEEEED HOLIDAY. I'm thinking of a possible to Ireland to break up some of the time.

If you want to go to Dublin and do it on the cheap stay here Hostel Dublin when most places in the centre of Dublin are costing 25 plus euros a night we stayed here and paid 8 euro a night. Rooms are dodgy, 14 beds all cramped together male toilets smelt like weed and had no toilet seats, the hostel was in a street where all the druggies hung around, the place was above an derilict chinese restaurant. Blood stains on your bed, which wouldn't of been an issue if i decided to make the bed. But positives 5-10 minute walk to Temple Bar and cheap so your already 5-6 pints up for the day. Stayed there for a week and had a great time for the first 4 days until i got really ill

Cmon ROO, your not fooling anyone.. theres no way you read more than a quarter of it :P

Got me there!

The 2 main people i went to Ocktoberfest with last year are going again this year, which has go me thinking but lack of funds and leave are killing me.

How about prague? Slightly cliched now, but when I went in 06 it was just starting to become a big destination. Trust me, the fanny is amazing. I've never been to nightclubs/strip clubs/brothels with so much totty.

Beer was expensive in the irish pubs, but if you find the backstreet ones, we managed to find one place selling a litre of beer for 50p!

If you want sun and sea then bulgaria is the new place to go. Avoid september though as england play then, and prices rocket up

NEEEEED HOLIDAY. I'm thinking of a possible to Ireland to break up some of the time.

So I got drunk on Saturday and now I'm spending new year in Galway. Met a few girls from there when I was in Estonia. This can only end in tears.

I need to stop booking holidays on a whim. I've worked out that in 2011 I will have been to eight countries (France, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Sweden, UAE, India, Ireland). I'm living on bread and marg for the next six months.

Not going on a proper holiday this year. Was looking at going out to Cannes in October though for the World Series of Poker Europe.

Anyone been around that time/or been at all? What's it like?
