lcfc"weasel" Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Both sets of fans when we've been to elland road both times last season were brilliant We and them were poor in the cup game (only one I attended) it really is ruined by that steward.

z-layrex Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Palace for home support, Leeds for away. Only ones who come close in my opinion are Bristol City and Millwall. Everyone else is very samey. Palace?? I go to loads of home games at selhurst as my mates are fans, and the support is almost always awful. It's usually only half full and it's very quiet. There is a corner of brilliantly organised fans that have big flags and a drum but other than them the fans are generally pants.

But it's a whole block going for it for the whole game, never stopping - win or lose. Nowhere else has that kind of consistency at home in my book.
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Leeds by a mile away. Palace's fanatics at home, Upton Park next year should be good, can be a great atmosphere on occasions.
leicesterisme Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 I'd say Palace as well, obviously not for attendances but for atmosphere. I've been to most away games this season and that was by far the best atmosphere by a home team this season.
kimmy619 Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Our home support is pretty silent, but we may up for it at away matches We do have a pretty stable home support though which is good. Derby only have high attendance because they give away tickets......i therefore believe that they should be discounted from this discussion The Leeds away fans are okay, but the home fans were silent when visited them last season. Plus, that female steward is an absoloute bitch.

Yeah that's a good point hadn't thought of it like that. Does anyone know what the story is on those guys, are they some sort of supporters club? It is amazing what they do for a club as shit as palace are at the moment.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Holmesdale Fanatics. Been around since 2005. Loads of vids of them on YouTube, really have been instrumental in resurrecting the atmoshpere at Selhurst.
purpleronnie Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Shows how fans getting together can completely change the atmosphere. I remember reading they had huge problems with stewards but they persisted and I believe things have got much better for them.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 To be fair lcfc weasel, I forgot how bad our support (by our usual standards) was away to them in the cup. It was a good effort from our fans tho. All down to that bitch ruining it. The atmosphere in the league game was much better

Fox92 Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 I'd have to go for Leeds. There support is great, they have a massive fan base. Always fill the away end of every ground. Atmosphere might not be that good at Elland Road, although it's better than other places, but most teams are like that, including ourselves. Teams such as Leeds, Nottingham Forest and West Ham will fill the away end next season. Shame Huddersfield didn't go up either, because they are a very well supported club.

Didn't manage it last season. Also, why are people linking numbers to atmosphere? Often you'll get teams taking huge numbers all over the shop that sit down in silence all game (e.g. Everton).

Yep, was disappointed with Newcastle when they came to our place as well and Derby are uniformly awful when they come here as well. Have to say Coventry brought small numbers but were much louder than both of them.

leicesterisme Posted 5 June 2011 Posted 5 June 2011 How good the team are is hardly the point though, is it? Well yes, when your team is good, you'll get people crawling out of the woodwork making it more likely to create a better atmosphere. If we are doing really well next season we'll be getting attendances of 28k + regulary but if we were down the bottom we'd only get 22-25k regulary, unless their was special offers such as the pie and pint deal. Although Palace don't have many fans compared to teams like Us, Leeds and Forest they create alot more atmosphere than any other club in the league with a limited number of fans. They regulary finish near the bottom which obviously isn't going to help their fanbase.
