absolutelegend Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Current line up IMO: Schmiechel Peltier St.Ledger Bamba Berner Wellens Danns King Vassell Nugent Gallagher Obviously if Masiela completes you swap him for Berner. After that we're def after another striker. Not convinced Gallagher and Vassell will consistently do the business. Maynard or the Yak please Sven! To be honest, I'd still like a stronger center half instead of St. Ledger. Mills in and SSL on the bench. Weale, Berner, Abe, Waghorn, Dyer (?) all good cover. Promotion standard yet? Not sure. Play offs for sure but not automatic for me.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Team I would like Schmeichel Peltier Mills Mee Konchesky Danns Wellens King Whittingham Yakubu Gallagher
harryboi72 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Team I would like Schmeichel Peltier Mills Mee Konchesky Danns Wellens King Whittingham Yakubu Gallagher swap yakubu for maynard and gallagher for routhledge and that team would destroy this league
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 swap yakubu for maynard and gallagher for routhledge and that team would destroy this league Yeah I would put Maynard in for Gally and Routledge instead of Whittingham but Tanner said he's a no go.
MikeyT Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 As it stands and with Maslilela. Based on the same formation of last season. Shmeichel Peltier Bamba St. Ledger Masilela Danns Wellens King Vassell Nugent Gallagher I love Abe but can't see him being a starter.

absolutelegend Posted 8 July 2011 Author Posted 8 July 2011 Updated to include Mills....IMO: Schmiechel Peltier Mills Bamba Masilela Wellens Danns King Vassell Nugent Gallagher Back up: Weale, Berner, St. Ledger, Abe, Waghorn, Oakley, Dyer, Howard Another Striker, maybe a Winger and a Midfielder then looking good I'd like Maynard and Routledge please Sven
S1DDO Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Based on the players we currently have: Schmiechel Peltier Mills SSL Berner Wellens Danns King Gallagher Nugent Vassell
absolutelegend Posted 8 July 2011 Author Posted 8 July 2011 I heard Sven on the radio last night that Masilela would be a city player - just awaiting formalities to complete. St. Ledger over Bamba then? I know Sol got a bit of stick on here but I think his strength and pace make him a must starter. Also seems mad that we are still looking at Gally starting with all our signings. He's got to be next for replacement?
Guest Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Gally does things that others don't. I wouldn't be so quick to write him off in Sven's plans
Bezzanator89 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 You can start to consider having Maynard removed from your Starting XI possibilties, Bristol are being greedy sods and remaining adamant that not even £5million will tempt them, they rejected that offer this morning.
Leicfox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Gally does things that others don't. I wouldn't be so quick to write him off in Sven's plans I agree, and thought a few times last season that we lost are way in games when he got subbed off. Still has an important role to play in this team imo.
MikeyT Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Based on the players we currently have: Schmiechel Peltier Mills SSL Berner Wellens Danns King Gallagher Nugent Vassell Looks good!
sdb Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 ---------------------KASPER-------------------- PELTS-----BAMBA-----MILLS---MASILELA --------------------WELLENS------------------- ------------DANNS-----KING-------------------- VASSEL------------------------------GALLY ----------------------NUGENT-------------------- WEALE, SSL, BERNER, ABE, DYER, WAGGY, SCHLUPP/HOWARD Ideally we'd get Maynard and shift Nugent out to the right. Yet to be convinced by Vassell. A top draw winger would be nice too.
Jimbo Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Gally does things that others don't. I wouldn't be so quick to write him off in Sven's plans Gally to Leicester with Sven in charge is like Beckham was to England under Sven. Don't think we'll be looking to replace him, but extra competition can only be a good thing
Itsthejoeker Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 ------------------Schmiechel-------------------- Peltier-------Mills--------SSL-------Masilela Abe------Danns----------King-----Gallagher ---------------Vassell------Nugnet--------------
Clazie Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Kasp Peltier Bamba/SSL Mills Masilela Abe King Wellens Gally Nugent Schlupp Clearly ol' Jeffrey is a bit of a risk.. But I think Abe is a must for us next season. Who else breaks up the play? We can't just attack you know.
marbelladave Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 This pretty much nails it: http://theseventytwo...leicester-city/ Nice article but it really does not tell us anything that we did not already know..... There remains some serious issues that were alluded to not really addressed, for example.... Even with Mills and (hopefully) Masilela, we do not have a 'natural' left sided centreback, Bamba certainly does not like it and as far as I know both Mills and SSL are right footed and prefer to play on that side. A solid central paring has to be our priority, but to my mind we are still lacking in this area, have a word with Roberto and get Mee back..... Our midfield was routinely over run by the better teams last season, maybe Danns will make a difference but to my mind we remain in desperate need of a 'proper' holding midfield player. If our fullbacks are going to be expected to provide the width going forward as appears to be the case, then we simply have to have someone to cover in front of the back 4 and we don't! Our midfield is also totally lacking in someone who can play and be creative from wide areas, Gallagher might be able to step up to that role but then maybe not, Nugent is a striker who starts from wide and is direct, but a 'creator' for others, no. To be honest I am more concerned with those issues than with getting a 'star' striker, I would be quite comfortable with a front line of Gallagher and Nugent either side of Vassell if the other issues I raised are properly addressed.
wolfgang amadeus Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I'd be looking at something more like this ----------------Kasper------------------- Peltier --- SSL --- Mills ---Masilela ----------------Bamba------------------ -------Danns--------Wellens-------- Gallagher ----------------------- King -----------Vassell/Nugent------------ With the front 3 being pretty flexible

I would take issue with King playing so far forward. Despite his goals King is not really a creative player, he simply does nothing to unlock defenses from 30 - 40 yards out. He does not play the penetrating pass and does not run at a set defence, on the counter and in the box he is a different player. I would be more inclined to play King and Danns in front of the back 4, (if we are not going to play with a 'sitting' midfielder) they would be strong defensively and King would be able to make his late runs into the box which would be that much harder to pick up. Give Wellens (or Gallagher if we get a wide man) the creative role in the hole behind the front three mentioned above.

Have you forgotten a certain japanese maverick?
