Bruno Berner - new First Team Coach?

For anyone who has FoxesPlayer and hasn't seen:

My link

Bruno (as wonderfully articulate and intelligent as ever) was talking to Stringer about the teams level of fitness during this pre-season and how he and many of the team feel so much fitter than this time last year and that pre-season training has been so much harder and better than last year (Yeh, ok we all knew this was true but I just love hearing this man speak  )

I would welcome his involvement with the club following his retirement as a player (did I mention that I LOVE HIM)!

I've got to agree. Bruno would be a fantastic 'signing' as Player / Coach - he's got all the attributes and loads of potential. I just hope that the 1 year contract on offer (as reported) is sufficient to attract him. I'd certainly rather have him than (the most recently named 'candidate') Ray Wilkins - I can't see his tactical 'preferences' (ie lots of sideways stuff) being good to watch / effective in the Championship (though Sven might disagree !).

Peter Taylor was a very good coach prior to his arrival at Leicester. He did a very good job with the team previously built by Martin O'Neill but it went horribly wrong when he was allowed to purchase players. I think he under estimated the players we had and tries to implement a style of football that our squad was unfamiliar with. In many ways, not to dissimilar to the short Sousa reign and lacked the ability to motivate us out of a slump.

Having Taylor as a coach wouldn't actually worry me. It's a job where he has the ability to succeed. If SGE believes he would be the correct person, then I'm happy to roll with it.

It's all water under the bridge now.

..... Just don't let him get involved in our transfer policy.

Oliver Loga was saying that Bruno had told him, that Sammy Lee and Peter Taylor were two names being talked about at the club last week. He also said that Bruno was still not sure if Sven really wanted to look outside for a Coach, or go with him.

Personally, I wouldn't have problems with Taylor coming back as a Coach. He might have a 'history' as a Manager, but has always had a good reputation as a Coach. Similarly, I'd be happy with Ray Wilkins, whose name has also been linked this week.

I might be being a bit thick here - but who is Oliver Loga ?

Bruno says he would consider the job if sven offered it

Where did you see / hear that Ryan ?

Stringer's reporting, that when Sven was asked about Bruno being appointed Coach, at today's press conference in Sweden; he answered (cryptically !), "wait until tomorrow" !

Was anything said on this about tonight like stringer said it would on the radio at half 7?

Sven said, "wait until tomorrow (Thursday)" for news on the Coach appointment. Nothing yet !

Maybe he'll talk to RL after the game tonight? Or RL break a pre recorded interview from today???

Sven said yesterday that they will tace care of it internally starting with giving Mike Stowell responsibilities with the other players as well.

Great now he can f*c* up our outfield players as well ;)

Very smart, level-headed guy.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but, what with him being Swiss, he's probably fluent in half the languages of the world - very handy for when we start buying up the cream of Europe's footballing talent!

This has all gone very quiet. I'm worried that Sven's announcement that Stowell will take a bigger (non-goalkeeping) Coaching role, will mean that either he's not going to give Bruno a Coaching job, or Bruno has decided to turn down any offer on the table (it was said, that he was offered only a 1 year contract). I hope that even with Stowell getting extra work, there will still be a need for another Coach (especially as MS has very little experience of outfield Coaching) - and Bruno will be that man ! I would have thought that Championship / aspiring Premiership clubs need more than 2 Coaches (in addition to the Manager) - particularly as one of those (and the Manager) is 'getting on a bit' and would find it difficult to physically 'keep up with the players' in training ! Lets hope there's still an announcement to come about Bruno's appointment - and his future is clarified fairly soon (as a Player, as well as a Coach).
