Fox92 Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Can't see the teams on Sky Sports, but Wednesday's team must have been a young team. However, a friend of mine who I went to school with plays for Sheffield Wednesday, and it doesn't look like he played so I

ajthefox Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 on the official wednesday site it says that had a friendly with stoke yesterday
davieG Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 ALFRETON TOWN 14, SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY XI 0 Sunday Jul 31, 2011 HAT-TRICK OF HAT-TRICKS FOR RAMPANT REDS ALFRETON Town continued their pre-season build-up with a 14-0 victory over a youthful Sheffield Wednesday side who found themselves overwhelmed. In front of 538, the Reds took the lead inside the first two minutes when visiting keeper Sean Cuff pushed a Josh Law cross into his own net for an own goal after just one minute and 50 seconds. Goals came at regular intervals after that and three players notched hat-tricks, Nathan Arnold, Nathan Jarman and Paul Clayton, the last of which came from the penalty spot. Other goals came from Chris Senior and Jordan Hall. Sheff Weds drew with Stoke 0-0 yesterday.
Fox92 Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 on the official wednesday site it says that had a friendly with stoke yesterday Yes, they drew 0-0 but the XI played Alfreton today which usually indicates its the other team (reserve, academy etc)
Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 This happened? it wasn't just a dream? Maybe Milan had a bet on?

John Matrix Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 was it blackpools academy team that got turned over about a month ago?
Hollism94 Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Haha it was the SW academy! I only know because I go to school with one of their strikers. I don't think anyone else would notice, and I reckon he'll keep pretty quiet about it. Should I keep my silence or let him get ribbed by everyone?
bluesbrothers Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 It's priceless to read that SWFC thread from the start and just see it all fall apart in real time. So we didn't get promoted last season? It could be much worse. Thank christ we have a decent academy.
tartanowl Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Jesus, their youth set-up must be awful. It is awful. We have finished bottom of our respective leagues the last 2 years running and there are precious few players coming through the ranks. How Sean McAuley is still in a job I do not know.

I went to school with him, he lives just down the road from me, and obviously I still know him because we only left school in 2008. We had a few good players at school. However, only two of them have progressed significantly and I know Liam has done very well getting into the first team, I think he has got number 12 now as well.

Liam is one of the very few shining lights amongst a very poor bunch. He had a solid game on Saturday and I expect him to be more involved in the first team this season. Are you a Worksop lad?

He has done well getting into the team, I know Clinton Morrison praised him as well a few months ago. And, yes, I am. Why do you live here?
