Nick Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 2-0 for me Nugent & Howard - Think they both have points to prove and when Howard is brought on for final 15 to hold the ball up and get fouled I'll think he'll get one.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Pre Season has gone fine really, only lost once to Norwich but it was a game which we were well in for 60 minutes (probably the better side) we treated it as a proper game and only made 2 substitutes whilst they brought on 11 fresh legs between the 50th and 60th minute which just totally took the game away from us. Other than that, we won 3 and drew 2 playing some good stuff. And to be fair to some of our younger lads they're not just there to make up the numbers, a couple of them look very good. In Thorn I feel we have a decent manager who's got the players on side playing some good football, we're just missing a couple of key links from making us a decent first XI IMO, a speed merchant up top and someone in the final third who can play that final pass. I was surprised Boothroyd did as badly as he did, quite expected him to take you up to higher mid-table really. Ours was pretty good, played some top teams as you probably know and only Valencia and Real Madrid managed to beat us with us being disgraced in neither game. Our first XI is just a striker away from being a very good promotion prospect in my opinion, especially given the fact we have strength in depth now with two good players for more or less every position.
Dr The Singh Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Scrappy encounter, few chances, 0 - 0 draw, if cov score first then we will be in trouble!!!
George Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Boothroyd is the worst manager I've personally ever seen, he even drove me away from home and away games, the type of football he played should be banned, was attrocious.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 He did well at Watford but absolutely nada since. I must admit that his 'brand' of football is absolutely appalling though and acceptable only when it's effective, as soon as the results start drying up then he's on borrowed time.
George Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 You should play a style that suits the players you have, techincally we have some decent players. Their confidence and enthusiasm was just drained away by playing Boothroyd's way.
VampLCFC Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Absolute must win, we will be laughed out of the Ricoh Arena if we don't win or at least draw, we've spent what £10 - 12m....... Don't think Cov have spent a penny!! MUST WIN!!!
Ric Flair Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Jukebox and Eastwood have both got injured at the weekend, they only have Clive Platt fit. This is the best chance we've had in years to fookin murder them, I hope we don't miss this opportunity. No doubt they'll have some yoth come in though and score a hat-trick.

Platt isn't fit either, Burnley have just bid £1.5mill for Juke.
ScouseFox Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 I can't see how they could possibly match us in any area of the pitch, but I think that about this lot every year, and somehow they do. So as per with pretty much every season, I think we'll win. 0-3, King, Nugent and Bamba. But I won't be even slightly surprised with the inevitable 1-1.
Foxy Bingo Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Never seen us win at cov so I can't be optimistic. However, I think if we win, we'll win by a lot We've sold out according to the website. Anyone how big the allocation was? Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere.

DanTheFox07 Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Still a bit of work to do with communication and defensive side of our game after watching madrid game and we still lack a powerful and quick striker which I very much doubt well get before the weekend. However saying that we did play Real madrid and they are a class apart compared to coventry ! however can`t take opposition and should still give them the respect they deserve. Ive seen that eastwood is injured and burnley have bid for jukweitz if that`s how you spell it? could be struggling upfront!
hbkkids Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 i think we will win 3-0 nugent, gallagher and mills with the goals
joel Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 0-2 lcfc nugent and danns I'm going are you? 0-2 lcfc nugent and danns I'm going are you?
bluesbrothers Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 1-1. I honestly have little optimism for the opening day for no reason other than we have a bad record at Chav. Nugent with our goal.
Uncle Monty Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 I had a dream about this last night and Mills got sent off pretty early
Guest Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 Anyone with a ticket who is unable to go. Please contact me.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 1-3 win Nugent x2 and Mills :scarf: Anyone with a ticket who is unable to go. Please contact me. go in the home end
Cropwellfox Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 i'll go for a 2-1 reverse, one of last years' players on the scoresheet, defensive blunder and a saturday evening on here full of Wellens, Mills, Konchesky and Vassell bashing, questioning our transfer policy, lots of anger that we can't even sign a striker despite having 3 months to do so and lambasting 4-3-3 as a formation that will never work in this division. Meanwhile Hammers, Brighton, Leeds, Forest, Derby and Cov fans all contributing to our collective sense of impending doom, while the more philosophical posters look back fondly to the excitement that pre-season and Madrid brought with it Or on the other hand Cov never lose on the opening day, so what a great time to go there and hand out a footballing lesson. 2-0 Danns & Gally.
