CKB Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 According to reports, Rotherham United have rejected a cash plus player offer from Coventry City for striker Adam Le Fondre. That surprises me as i thought Cov were skint? i assume the cash offer was very low! 20 quid or something

He's not bald Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 20 quid is good...that includes his wages for the next 12 months?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 he scored again yesterday didnt he? Sign somebody to help Nugent Pleeeeeeaaaasssseeee!!!!!
bluearmyfox23 Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Bloody helli was hoping we would sign around 3 forwards 2 start and 1 as back up now we only have about 4 options left in beckford, yakubu, Maynard and le fondre !

Make that one option then because Yak would be here by now if he was coming, Maynard made it quite obvious by his antics after scoring on Wednesday that he's not coming and Fondue's a Sunday league striker who we'll never sign in a million years!

So thts why yak is weighing up a loan move of us Keith millen said Leicester are still intrested and le fondre needs to be given a chance he only would be back up but would be worth the risk at 500k
MikeyT Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 That surprises me as i thought Cov were skint? i assume the cash offer was very low! 20 quid or something More likely £15 and a Kinder Egg. The toy inside would keep them amused for days, surely?
Itsthejoeker Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 More likely £15 and a Kinder Egg. The toy inside would keep them amused for days, surely? They upped their bid to £20, Andy Thorn ate the egg AND the toy.

Howard9 Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Stick a 1.5 mil bid in for him and rotherham might accept, the manager of rotherham was sayign yesterday hes seen some players at his level go for 1 mil but he thinks le fondre is worth much more than that and he said he didnt know if hed stay at rotherham til the end of the transfer window
Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 To me a goalscorer is a goalscorer and Le Fondre has proven to be a great goal scorer. While he may have to improve in other areas, I would think his drive to succeed and improve would make up for that. There have been many examples in recent times when players have come up from non/lower leagues and succeeded. I'm inclined to agree with this. All a striker needs is pace, awareness, positioning, and the ability to place the ball as hard as possible. These things "translate" (for want of a better word) up the levels better than say the ability to pass, tackle or dribble, which are more technical. If we can get him for less than £1m then I think he could be good cover at least and possibly a good partner for Nugent.

cc_star Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Fourth_Official Coventry are lining up a bid for Le Fondre
Ozwin Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 I'd rather play for Rotherham than bloody Coventry.
FrankieADZ Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Fourth_Official feel sorry for him if he ends up going there
CKB Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 20 quid is good...that includes his wages for the next 12 months? Nah mate, Cov said he has to play for free! More likely £15 and a Kinder Egg. The toy inside would keep them amused for days, surely? Mmmmmmm Kinder Egg, i'd even consider playing for Cov for a Kinder Egg.... ..... ...........ok maybe not! They upped their bid to £20, Andy Thorn ate the egg AND the toy. And the wrapper, and the 20 fans that go to home matches, and the tea lady, chairman, etc, etc!
He's not bald Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Fondue will never ever play for Leicester...he's at the level he is because that's where he belongs (or maybe Chaventry...but that's pretty much the samething now )please stop this utter nonsense and let's move on!
Grewks Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Fondue will never ever play for Leicester...he's at the level he is because that's where he belongs (or maybe Chaventry...but that's pretty much the samething now )please stop this utter nonsense and let's move on! George Boyd, Charlie Austin and mackail - smith (just to name a few) played at that level but proved they are better than that by playing well. To me 20 goals a season on a regular basis seems that he is too good for that level.
Jaspa Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 If he was any type of decent, a good League 1 team wouldve picked him up in the past few years of banging them in. People who think he should be in a Prem setup next year clearly shouldn't be managing a footy team. Must have something wierd in his personality or sumthing

Must have something wierd in his personality or sumthing Didier Drogba spent 4 years playing in the French 2nd division before he was picked up by a top division side. Is he not good enough and just fooling everyone in the PL, or is it possible that sometimes decent players stay playing at a lower level than they should do for some reason or another? 20+ goals 3 years in a row shows he's the best in the league, until he's been tried at a higher level no-one knows if he is good enough or not. 1 mil ish is a risk worth taking.
