lcfcsnow Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Would be totally unwhelmed by this, too similar in style to Nugent and the sort of signing Rob Kelly would make. We need to sign the right player here, it will make or break our season.
Joe. Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Let's be honest here, 95% of us have not seen him play more than three times (I'd be surprised if it's even once) so constructive comments are almost impossible. It would be a big gamble if Sven's going to pin his hopes on the lad, but the one thing he has going for him is a cracking goal-scoring record in League Two in the last two seasons. My only concern is that nobody's bothered going in for him before now. Perennially linked away, never made the step up.
Bugg Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Anyone forgetting that players we signed from the lower leagues have previously done well, such as Alan Smith, Neil Lennon etc. Just because they are from the lower leagues doesn't mean they can't do the business.
superfox1980 Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Le Fondre has potential, no doubt about that. I don't think for one second that if we were to sign him he would the 20 goal a season man that Sven's after but a signing for the future. He's scored a lot of goals in League 2 and from what I've seen of him looks a natural finisher. I for one would be pretty happy if we got him in.
RichardsonJ Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Give people a chance to show what they can do before making a judgement if he joins and fires us to promotion he will be a hero. In Sven We Trust
Leicfox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Would rather try and get Cody McDonald for cheap from Norwich.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I'd take Adam over that Victor bloke from Everton.
HoustonFox Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Seems to know where the goal is. Maybe worth a little punt? Gotta ask why if he is that good no one else has picked him up already though...
Jaspa Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Haha, people think Sven's think about getting him to lead the line! Replacement if Waggy or Big Steve leaves, nothing more unless he proves he's dangerous at this level and has a good personality Wouldn't mind taking a little gamble on him tho
Number 6 Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 All this lower league talk and yet Simon Cox will be playing for WBA in the Prem this season. Players can make the step up.

Andy Hargreaves Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 boys lets see if hes good tonight and take this possible transfer into consideration after the match , if sven sees something in him well be getin him sein were the only club in for him and were apparently desperate for a striker so im sure well get sum1 b4 the end of the season
Garysbrokentoe Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 he seems to have that canny knack of being in the right place at the right time, bit like Speedie and cottee. bit of a kevin phillips type player
Len Finsbury Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I've changed my mind. I didn't think he was worth the gamble at first. After watching that video it seems that the penalties that he takes are probably the furthest he scores from so with decent supply from our midfield, he might be the one to fill the gap. Seems like a good finisher and instinctive (if there is such a thing). Might be worth a try after all.
Big Dave Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Worth a punt I think. There was some awful defending for several of his goals, so he may not get as many taking the step up. Poor defending aside, you have to be in the right place to put the ball away!
Bryn Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Instinctive strikers tend to be capable of scoring goals at any level of the game given the service... the thing that stops them progressing usually that a higher class of team demands more from a striker than goals, they're required to be a part of the play. I'd happily take Le Fondre and just accept that he won't help the build up a great deal, he's just there to stick the ball in the net.
Austin Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I'd take Le Fondre over paying £3mill for Anichebe.

Hold on... a striker who doesn't contribute other than to score goals? Didn't we have one of those last year who lots of people claimed to be lazy Maybe this guy isn't the one then.
He's not bald Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 he seems to have that canny knack of being in the right place at the right time, bit like Speedie and cottee. bit of a kevin phillips type player 50 goals in 87 games 14 of them penalties (we have Kermo so don't need another penalty taker ) of the other 36 goals 80% at least were as a result of comical defending and/or goalkeepers going awol, that leaves about 7 half decent goals with some nice touches but, and it's a BIG but, this is league 2 footie! I say leave Mr le Fondue in his comfort zone

I say leave Mr le Fondue in his comfort zone You still have to be a decent player though to take advantage of them errors. A not so decent striker would not put the chances away. I say give him a chance for the small amount we would pay for him. If he didn't work out, we could get back most of what we'd pay for him so the risk wouldn't be huge. His wages would also assumable be relatively small.
davelcfc100 Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Not sure if already been posted but apparently been having talks with west ham today, only rumours on the west ham page though
FRASER Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 IF HE IS RIPPING UP MILLS SIGN HIM UP MILLS IS BEST DEFENDER OUTSIDE OF PREM SO SIGN HIM UP IN :sge: WE TRUST
foxoffderby Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Not sure if already been posted but apparently been having talks with west ham today, only rumours on the west ham page though I doubt that very much. A player would not talk to another club then be playing a much the same night, neither the buyer or the seller would want the player injured or cup tied.
