lcfcadam Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I'm sorry that is a matter of no Interest really... What does and doesn't interest you is a matter of no interest to me. Personally I think it's good to see our players doing well elsewhere when they can't make our first team
Nath Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Is the next round draw tomorrow? Prem teams come in too?
Fox92 Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Fantastic night. Saw all the players get off the bus, there was no barriers stopping us or anything. Peltier and Howard drove in, not on the bus. Thought Ball was at fault for the goal. Waghorn looked poor (again). Schlupp was excellent, created chances and scored 3 good goals. Mills didn't look impressive again, a few people around me saying have we wasted the money. Bit early yet like, I know. Johnson obviously looked overweight and didn't impress me that much but did come into it second half along with Moussa.

Father Ted Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 How bad did Konchesky' injury look? Didn't even know he was injured?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Bit shaky in the first half at times but our quality shone through in the second. Obviously Schlupp stole the show but also thought Gallagher had a good game, his class really shows against inferior opposition. Although Ball was at fault for the goal we conceded (looked very slow after his sloppy pass) I thought Mills could/should have done better. Way too early to write him off as I said post Coventry but genuine first impressions are that he's pretty slack with his marking, and favours a long punt over a short pass, but to his credit is fairly decent in the air. That doesn't equate to a £5million defender though. I think some people have been guilty of not realising that a hefty price tag doesn't automatically mean quality. It's pretty clear to me so far that we over paid massively. I was never a huge Hobbs fan and thought that he was at times over-hyped considering suspect passing ability, but I'm not seeing a £4million difference between the two thus far. Johnson looked good technically but is clearly some way off match sharpness, but the biggest disapppointment for me was Waghorn. Not because he played badly but because I (along with many others) was willing him to do well. Tonight was his chance. He put in a great ball for Gallagher's goal but other deliveries weren't the best and he had what can justifiably be called a glaring miss. When Sven's sat on the bench desperately searching for a new striker every hour God sends outside of matches and has just seen a young striking prospect bag a hat trick, to miss the chance he did was, for me, the end of Waghorn at Leicester
BoneDog Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Nice work from Schlupp on all of his goals and Gallagher's little floated chip onto Schlupp's head was inch perfect.
Dan Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Waghorn's over-rated and I'm getting totally tired of the whole scenario. It's becoming clear to me, he really does lack technical ability. His work rate is good but not even close to the likes of CMS, his shooting's abysmal, his set piece taking is dire, I think he'd do well to net 12 again for us let alone 20. It's such a shame, absolutely loved him on his loan season here and was over the moon when we got him back, but now, to be honest, he looks totally out of his depth. Even against Kettering/Rotherham, for all they were small-ish games, they were two good chances to show he had the ability, to show Sven he doesn't need to go out and spend millions on a forward, and he absolutely fluffed it. Totally agree with whoever said it's over for him. Schlupp & Waghorn put in the same team, Waghorn fluffs a couple of chances, putting in a poor display, the other lad, an unknown quantity, bags a hat-trick. Schlupp is our future, Waghorn, sadly, isn't. I wish him all the best but I've totally lost faith, he offers nowhere near enough to us anymore and although I'm always pro-supporting players, I think our fans are very, very easy on him, compared to the likes of Oakley, of whom is no star himself, but I don't think what they offer to us is much different, it's minimal, if anything Oakley's better, and our fans make it very clear he's not a favourite. It's hard to word but I'm sure some people will see what I'm getting at.
Calfox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Firstly, schlupp did really well great goals especially the first was a real strikers goal. No reason y we shouldn't give him a chance this season. Also a big shout out to gally brilliant performance not only showed his class with a few tricks and some lovely passing but I also thought he worked really hard. In a way I feel a bit sorry for waggy it was clear he was gettin frustrated at himself and that he was really trying but at the same time like has been said, to miss a golden opportunity like that with Sven watching was very poor. Overall a good second half performance with a bit of a nervy first half. Oh and not forgetting kasper, awesome save at 1-0 down.
Callabinho Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 You have to remember that some pundits will disagree with how we have worked this summer, so he will watch that and think we are little threat to his precious West Ham especially with the team we fielded, we know better so no need to let it get to us! As for Schlupp what a lad, really took the bull by the horns and took his chances well. The defence just lacked pace but then again Oakley and Ball are not well known for their blistering pace! All in all rocky start but we got the job done.
Fox92 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 No Howard last night - is he injured? Don't think he was injured, we spoke to him as he approached the ground. He didn't go on the team bus though, he drove in his car and walked into the ground on his own. He was joking as always though with the fans.
Guest Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Was a great night. Definitely a reserve side looking lineup but then again we were playing against a 4th division team. We started looking good going forward but what a mess at the back when they moved the ball and attacked. After we scored our first though the game was over. Gallagher was a class above all the starters on both sides and the clear man of the match. Schlupp was lost until we scored and then the confidence flowed through his body, he put his goals away nicely and looked a real poacher. He needs someone to feed off. Konchesky was good going forward and delivering the ball. Talking off Ball he was a disaster. Worst player on the pitch. Couldn't cover the Rotherham attackers, slow and out of postion and really hurt our ;akeshift defence. I hope NOT to see him play a meaningful game for the City. Oakley a wing back? Sven was having a laugh. Dyer played in the middle of midfield and didn't use his speed enough - had a good game though. Moussa - just a back up. Waggers - I like the guy but I hope he goes to Derby on loan or is used to get Maynard. Waghorn wanted to do well but he was useless. poor control, terrible shot - even in warm up. He needs to go and play somewhere else and refind what he once had. No use to City in his present state. Howard would have been a better partner for Schlupp and Dyer but as we all know a striker is the part that we are missing. a top striker and we are going to be dangerous. In the end we easily put away a team that we should have put away but that's something we have had trouble doing in the past.
Tevez Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Not the best first half, Quality second half. Well done schlupp on his trick
tartanowl Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 I hope you enjoyed your night in Sheffield last night. That was a good result against a potential banana skin. It's a really crap view at the ground isn't it?!
Leicesterpool Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 I thought First half we were pretty poor, second half we were all over them, they looked to me Rotherham were tired after 50 mins & we took advantage of that. Waghorn I thought was simply rubbish last night, I'm sorry but he was. I think Howard should have played in his place. Atmosphere was superb from us, Rotherham made noise now & again but mainly quite. Didn't see last night? Funny thing last night was the coach driver got lost around the ground looking for somewhere to park NEXT ROUND AWAY TO HEREFORD a tasty atmosphere
Guest Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 just read roger clarke in the merc - fool Gally 6 same as Ball with Wags 7 and Oakley 8. Pratt
Guest Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 I Funny thing last night was the coach driver got lost around the ground looking for somewhere to park NEXT ROUND AWAY TO HEREFORD a tasty atmosphere TBH the driver parked right next to the perfect entry and they made us walk half way round the town.
