lookwhaticando Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 Because their style of football just isn't suited to the up-and-at-them football deployed by Bolton and Sheffield United. Their fairy-like players like to tap the ball around and walk the ball into the goal. That just isn't easy against big physical sides. Arsenal were found out by Bolton a couple of years ago. I'm surprised other teams haven't tried to learn from Bolton - Arsenal would be so much poorer for points if teams really went for Arsenal. Man U really bollocked it earlier this year - they let Arsenal play. It was no surprise they lost 1-0 trying to match Arsenal's methods. Man U seemed to sit back and leave room - it cost them three points. If they actually went at Arsenal and tried to stop them playing, Arsenal would be f/cked and easy to take points off. It happened across Manchester at Eastland. Man City had Arsenal a goal down and didn't allow them real room to play. Arsenal's response? Long-ball. Dreadful long-ball which was completely ineffective. It showed you how desperate they were to abandon their fancy fairy football and attempt to launch it over the top of everyone to avoid a physical battle in the middle. Pathetic showing really. I'm pleased for Sheffield United and Warnock - I'd like them to remain in the premiership this season.
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 I wouldn't go quite that far, but I must concede they deserved to win. The Arsenal side that appeared yesterday were a disgrace not only to their club but to English football. They looked they couldn't give a monkey's. How come Wenger can get them fired up for games at Chelsea and Man Utd, and yet allow them to perform so abysmally at places like the Reebok and Bramall Lane? If the gooners have another trophy-free season, which at the moment looks highly likely, his days in English football could well be numbered.. That team is ridicolously young, at the back they're a under 21 team at times. Through midfield you've got Fabergas (19) and occasionally Flamini (22) Addebayor's what, 22? Van Persie 23. There not going to beat sides 6-2 every week just yet. To call them a disgrace to English football based on one game is a bit full on. Players like Baptiste, Rosicky and Hleb need to perform better, and I don't care what any one says they miss Henry badly.

Considering the money they're on (even as reserves), I believe it's a perfectly valid comment. They cheated their fans yesterday, as well as those of us watching on TV. Simple as. Remember also that not ONE British player was named in the gooners squad yesterday. How the hell can Wenger defend his foreigners-only policy when his side plays as badly as that?

They certainly won't do much domestically for a few years until their fairies toughen up a little.
MC Prussian Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 ARSEnal will treat Wenger as a king forever, because it was him who brought them the success in the past 10 years.

How the hell can Wenger defend his foreigners-only policy when his side plays as badly as that? It's a young team, he's looking to build a teamt that can play as well as the one that went a whole season unbeaten. If it means a few peformances like that on the way then so be it The know nothings on this site can agree with Alan Hansen all they want, Arsenal are easy to stop at the minute, but this has nothing to do with their tatics being found out as most people claim, the personal are young I don't have the skill of the Vieras, Edus, Ashley Coles and Dennis Berkamps of this world. Wengers forieng policy is simple, he buys the best players availble for what little money he has, as despite the Myths that Aresnal are rich, they're actually owe something stupid like 200 Million. English players cost money.
Tevez Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 i know i hate arsenal for the lack of english players.. but who can they sign as a big name english player?
Phube Posted 1 January 2007 Author Posted 1 January 2007 Woo Hoo, my little thread has reached the 100 post mark!!! I hope they'll be plenty more Arsenal Bashing in 2007!!
MC Prussian Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Woo Hoo, my little thread has reached the 100 post mark!!! I hope they'll be plenty more Arsenal Bashing in 2007!! Although an unlikely case, but hopefully with another loss tomorrow against Charlton...
Milky Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 Down to 10 men when silva is sent off after 10 mins, and they are still knocking them in. Blackburn 0-2 Arsenal.
lookwhaticando Posted 14 January 2007 Posted 14 January 2007 I despair of Blackburn, I really do. A man advantage, at home against Arsenal and they couldn't even muster a goal. Shocking stuff. Hughes OUT.
Phube Posted 15 January 2007 Author Posted 15 January 2007 What a goal. I just don't understand!!! It was a counter attack, therefore people do run the length of the field!! It was a decent strike from the edge of the box, sure. But contender for goal of the season (Sky and BBC!!) you're having a laugh!!! I mean 3 of Sheffield Wednesday's goals aginst us were better. And I saw at least 4/5 goal over the weekend (inc. Martyn's for Newcastle) that were much better!! Just because Blackburn didn't put one tackle in when they had three around each player (not even an attempt for Henry and Van Persie (?) to avoid!!). Honestly there must be some drugs in the national footy press' half-time tea that make them think anything Arsenal do is just soooo much better than every one else... I DON'T GET IT!!!!???

Don't be stupid Phube, Henry runs the length of the pitch, plays a great one two and curls if first time into the top corner.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 It was a class goal, but not as good as everyone is making out. I think Martins goal was better. That was quite special, you just don't expect him to it from there.

I never said it wasn't a good goal!! But Goal of the season??? Not even a contender!!! And like I said It was a counter attack... meaning most of the time people run the length of the pitch!!! Seriously this Aresenal loving is weird... even the Sky commentator didn't think Toure (?) shouldn't have been sent off. He bloddy kicked Savage!!!!

Gilberto Silva, techincally he shouldn't walk by the letter of the law he didn't kick him hard and it was below shoulder height, lets be honest who hasn't felt like kicking Robby Savage from time to time.
