I'm not talking about chanting.

What are you talking about?

On Saturday I was right behind the goal.

To the right of me some old fat ****er decided the 10 rows in front of him needed to sit down no doubt because he was too fat for his legs to cope with his immense mass.

He moaned to the steward and the whole block next to me for the front 10 or so rows were forced to sit down.

3/4 young lads weren't best pleased as they wanted to stand and sing and support their team like the rest of us so the bloke behind them told the old bill they were swearing and being abusive and not sitting down, so about 3 minutes into the game these 3 or 4 lads were thrown out.

Very cuntish in my opinion.

Or he had recently had surgery, or had a bad back/ leg/ ankle and couldn't stand for long periods - they don't give out blue badges like they used to, believe me...... difficult call, I hear you though.

Its amazing isnt it... ive been to a few aways in the past 12 months, have stood at every one and have not seen any trouble. The rules against standng are now out of date and irrelevant. The sooner clubs/leagues figure this out and allow it to be done in a controlled manner, the sooner we wont have the issue between sitters and standers.

people should have the right to do either and buy tickets appropriately.

True.

So you can justify a anti Police chant of some kind.

Good for you.

Can you justify a chant that is intimidatory, provoking and glorifies the murder of human beings.

If you think that's cool mate, you need to maybe speak to somebody professional to talk through your issues rather than be a marginalised liability at football matches!

The last bastion of intellectual bankruptcy: telling the person you are speaking to that they have a psychological ailment which requires urgent treatment.

The chant is usually sang in the presence of police officers, especially if they are perceived to have acted heavy-handedly. Your first error is assuming that the literal meaning of the chant is what each member of the chorus genuinely believes to be the appropriate treatment of police officers; it's the only way they can "get at" them while still retaining a relative level of impunity due to being part of a larger collective.

Your second error is assuming that those who do genuinely rejoice in the death of police officers do so out of a lack of concern for 'human beings'; they have clearly dehumanized police officers to the extent that they no longer consider them human enough to warrant concern. It is not hard to understand how this sort of opinion can arise when some police officers are revealed to be just as murderous as Harry Roberts. Add to that the constant reports of scandal and abuse of power from those in the police force and you have an easily justifiable hatred of police officers.

Moronic chant and I'm sure the vast majority singing it are clueless about the incident that led to it - much as they're clueless about anything requiring the use of more than one addled brain cell.

Astonished that others are trying to justify it. :nono:

Intellectual bankruptcy?

No. Attempting to give your actions justification by assembling a narrative that you think makes such behaviours justifiable, effective or reasoned is hilarious.

I've highlighted in bold the words and phrases in your post that are unfounded, presumptuous, unproven, assumed, non specific and at best sketchy!

Accusations of intellectual bankruptcy and then retorting with the academic prowess of a cornered badger doesn't help your cause any.

The only people that don't like coppers are criminals.

That's absolute bollocks my friend!

I am not a criminal, but I don't like the pigs & I certainly don't trust them.

To your face they can be friendly but don't turn your back on them!

And talking of criminals, there are plenty of them that wear a coppers uniform!

They think they are God when they don a uniform, which applies to a lot of other assholes that wear a uniform!

You can tie it up in ribbons and try to justify it but its still a sick, repugnant act.

I don't like the inland revenue very much, maybe later I'll trawl through the annals of history and look for a really good senseless murder of a few tax inspectors and get a group together and start singing about it outside their offices. It seems the only sensible way to show my disdain for them and the way they do their job.

So why not get tickets for the bottom row ffs!

I hate these twats.

My actions? I have never chanted the song in question or any similar songs. Nor have I murdered a police officer. You seem to have confused my description of possible explanations for why people sing the songs about Harry Roberts and other songs which express hatred towards police officers with my own actions and disposition.

I've highlighted in bold the words and phrases in your post that are unfounded, presumptuous, unproven, assumed, non specific and at best sketchy!

Would you prefer me to describe the exact frequency at which reports of abuses of power and scandals are brought to public attention, or the precise regularity at which songs pertaining to the death of police officers are chanted and which context? I assume not.

Accusations of intellectual bankruptcy and then retorting with the academic prowess of a cornered badger doesn't help your cause any.

You are yet to respond to the content of my argument; it is not difficult to see how the public can lose confidence in the police to such an extent that they no longer believe they deserve the same level of respect as other human beings. No amount of side-stepping will make that untrue.

I accept your argument but the % of the general public who lose respect enough to believe they should be treated worse than other human beings is tiny. Your use of the words 'the public' suggests most people have that view and that is simply wrong.

it's kids isnt it who sing that...you know the really thick ones who are 15 and have stopped going to school?

:crylaugh:and the older ones, you know these kids role models.....the ones who back in the day stopped going to school early and are still really thick!

I doubt many think 15 yr old school drop outs would know who Harry Roberts is.

Well I have always regarded the police as a necessary evil so to speak . I shudder to think what we would do without them though . If you think about it they only attend football matches because unfortunately the game attracts people of low intelligence and tribal leanings and they need to be kept in check for the rest of our safety. As for getting all angry because you have been told to sit down you must be in the low intelligence / tribal leanings club because it has been a rule at all clubs since god knows when . If you don't like that rule either watch it on tele later where you can sit on your numb nuts or stand with you arms touching the floor to your hearts content or pick a sport where you are allowed to stand . Perhaps catching the Javelin ?

Some attend to watch the game as several did against Forest on Saturday. Oddly enough I don't have any issues standing at every away game as i use my intelligence to ensure there are no issues. Strange how differently some people are treated.

Yes I accept what your saying . Personally I would like to see standing again at matches but my point was It is not allowed and every one knows that before you go into the ground , so I don't understand what is the problem if you get told to sit or your out . It's no good having a dig at the police or singing silly songs about a coward murderer they are just doing what they have been told to do .Ps i'm sure all of those who died at Hillsborough were intelligent people but crowd behaviour has proved to have no intelligence what so ever .

Ahh yes, lack of respect for the police? Lack of respect for elected officials? Lack of respect for parents? Lack of respect for teachers? Lack of respect for authority and law as a whole? Welcome to England 2011. I think we've seen over the past few weeks what effect these deep rooted and ignorant beliefs can have upon a society.

As for the police, want to avoid winding them up? Don't break the law. Simples.
