Funniest thing I heard when walking out the ground today was someone said Sven needs to go!!! We just won 3-2 !!!

Classic game of 2 halves... The moaners are giving a lack of respect to how well Southampton played their second half by blaming a tactical change, face it they are a team in form, they played some sublime stuff at times, just like we did in the first half... Ok Kasper has to make some crucial saves, thats what he is paid for, and I remember the Southampton keeper having a superb first half it could have easily been 5 or even 6-1 to us half time!! If we kept it at 4-4-2, Im not so sure that we would have seen the game out...

Trust Sven!!

On a final note... amazing game for the neutral

Anybody moaning should have a long look at themselves.

We've just beaten the in form team in the championship, handed them their first loss in 18 games, and you have to find the negatives?

Just be happy.

Don't know why we changed formation yet again, 4-4-2 in the first half dominated southampton and if it hadn't of been for their keeper we would of been 4 up before half time!!

here are 2 pictures I took of pansil, so much passion running round and bowing down to the fans.

That was a brilliant game.

Southampton came to attack and did so very well, which helped us to play too. They're a very good side and will be up there this season, very impressed. A draw would've been fair as we had the first half and they had the second half.

Pleased with our resolute defending towards the end, I thought they were going to score, so I'm pleased we held out. There's still a few problems, but I'm not going to let them kill my pride today, our first win at home against a decent team, which will do wonders for our confidence.

It'd be nice if we could just get an easy win, but this is a team that's still finding its way, and you're right - this result should be great for team spirit. We got the win against the league leaders! And at home, where we have looked very edgy and under pressure so far this season. I was a bit worried that the gutting result at Notts Forrest last week might have dented the players confidence again, but it looks instead that they managed to take the positives from the impressive first half display from that match.

I think the tactics still need work, but nothing drastic - I think the main thing is that Sven needs to go after teams for longer, and only try to shut up shop very late in the game, or when we have at least a three goal cushion. I agree - although we were up against the wall later in the game today, we still managed to keep the lead - it is nice to know that we can do that when needed.

I'm glad to see the team progressing steadily. Let's hope it continues.

I can finally breathe again. Brilliant game to watch for the neutral, but bloody hell my heart was hurting by the end! Made it a lot harder for ourselves than we needed to. Can't decide who my M.O.T.M was, either Fernandes or Schmeichel as both saved our defences on numerous occasions!

Good win + a needed 3 points. Kasper impressed throughout but so did everyone in the first half. We seemed to collapse second hald though, no midfield really + we put ourselves under pressure. 442 looked very good and then Sven changed it for no reason and it nearly cost us. Another tactical cock up on his part. The defence is still very poor. Its like we dont work on it at all, and we were lucky to hold on.

Good win, but much work still needs doing. Wish we had the three points from forest as it would be a half decent start otherwise.

Yes Southampton were unbeaten in 18.

Yes Southampton were decent.

But...

we played them off the park for 45 minutes. Our tactical switch almost cost us the win. We shouldn't play so negatively when we have the personnel in the squad to deal with the opposition.

We shouldn't fear anyone.

Brighton and Southampton top of the Championship...? Says it all for me.

Did anyone notice that before the match Fernandes kissed the goalpost and crossed himself? Does he usually do that? First time I've noticed.

The five substitute rule is really proving a hindrance, our hands are pretty tied at times when we could do with dipping into our squad a bit further.

Weird rule, it's been put in place to help smaller clubs who struggle to find 7 subs so it kind of takes away the advantage we would get over some clubs. But it can also hinder any chance of young players getting a chance.

Did no-one else think we were giving them far too much space in midfield to knock it around on the edge of our box in the first half? I'm not surprised Sven tried to put more bodies in the middle and hold the lead after half time by going 4-5-1. It definitely wasn't effective but I can see why he did it.

We definitely didn't 'dominate' them in the first half like everyone seems to be saying, they enjoyed plenty of constructive possession in our final third. A useful result but we're going to have be patient with our home performances I think.

Great Game

great win for us today for all the people moaning, lets look at the positive we hammered forest then we where cheated out of 3 points

and first half we dominated Southampton until the formation changed, put 3 past barnsley and we are sitting 6th or 7th in the table and

everything is great. :giggle:

Never seen him do that but against Reading (Think it was the Reading match) he took himself to one side before kickoff and 'prayed'.

Definately a game of two halves, first half performance was scintillating and could have had another 3 goals if not for their keeper. 2nd was squeaky bum time. Got to say schlupp looked lost after sven's brainwave but we won so can't criticise.

Ok, it was a great win, especially as they looked so good. But why why why change formation if the one you are using is creating the more clear cut chances.

Yeah they played nice footy first half, but what chances did they create? We scored three and their keeper made three good saves, our forwards were causing problems... So why bloody change it.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt last week, but this week it was almost suicide. The fact he then makes subs to fix his cock up rather than going back to the diamond adds insult to injury.

I will always stand up for him when people go ott, but these were basic errors again. I should be going home happy, but my main emotion is frustration that we nearly chucked it away again.

We have some great players and believe he's a good manager, but the players and manager need to cut out silly mistakes.

Anyway, first half was great and Schlupp was a handful up front without being a goal threat. Lots of potential... Makes you wonder if Waghorn would be good in the two up front rather than being wasted on the wing like Jeff second half.

Sounds like you were a bit lucky again today boys! Southampton having 54% of the play and 11 shots on target against your 6.

Once again though you won on fouls and yellow cards, conceding more fouls and getting more yellow cards.

Where is this magic that Sven has? It's gone just like he soon will be. You've spent £10 million pound on average players.

Who the F**k are you!

Now just do one tosser!

Kasper is a f***ing hero today. Good on him :chant: Schulpp look good on the ball. I'm really pleased with his performance.

4-4-2 was DOMINATING the game. So why in god's name did Sven change it 4-5-1/4-3-3, and put Schlupp on the wing? Sorry Svennie, but what the hell.

However, we CANNOT defend. Another 2 goals conceded is not good at all.

As for the Saints player who apparently got booked twice without a sending off is still a mystery to me. As I didn't notice it.

However 3 points has boosted our confidence, bring on those Barnsley bastards :scarf: :scarf: :scarf::chant: :chant:
