ScouseFox Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Also pleased for Ravi that he's steered us out of trouble in the last game, and scored the winning runs with a decent score in this. Everyone seems to be in form, bowlers, batters, one day players, test players. Next test is to play better away, can we nail India again, in India? We'll see.
marko Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 How utterly humiliating for India. All they have to show for a summer of cricket is one poxy draw in an ODI and let's face it, if we'd have gone off for rain when we should have (when the Indians were ahead on D/L they were scampering up the steps in lighter rain) we'd have won that as well. However, I fear it'll be a bit different story in October - the flat track bullies will be back in force.

I was one of his Knockers.. The boy done good..
CKB Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 The ECB had a plan many years ago to make England good again and boy have they delivered.. We are producing very good players in all forms of the game, who will adapt to all forms if need be aswell and i see no reason this form can't go on for many, many, many years if the ECB keep improving every aspect of the game then the national team will keep getting better The FA could really learn a thing or two from the ECB!
somebum Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I wonder how many of those India fans cry racist if you call them an Indian?

Spot on. This hasn't happened overnight, we've had some downs in the last few years, but the progress over time has been excellent.

Exactly, remember the horrible days? the ECB just had no clue and many called for change, from the time Duncan Fletcher came in things started to get better, the ECB knew what had to be done and now we sit proudly as the number 1 team in the world.. We are now producing players like Stuart Broad and not players like Ed Giddins...
StanSP Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Bairstow gone too! Can't reproduce form from a few days ago, same stadium. How do you like them apples, England ?!
Bert Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Bairstow gone too! Can't reproduce form from a few days ago, same stadium. How do you like them apples, England ?! We've still got whitewash apples.
StanSP Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 We've still got whitewash apples. I hope we can both have the same kind of apples come the end of this series of games
marko Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 I hope we can both have the same kind of apples come the end of this series of games Meh, you're just a bunch of flat track bullies. Anyway, test cricket is what it's all about.
StanSP Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Meh, you're just a bunch of flat track bullies. Anyway, test cricket is what it's all about. Hmm for me it's: T20 > 50 Over ODI's > Tests.
Corky Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Trott shouldn't play for the one-day side, too slow. And for me its: Tests > T20 > ODIs* * Without any bias even though England are top of the Test rankings and T20 world champions.
ScouseFox Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Tests >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> T20 > ODIs.
purpleronnie Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 I just think we'd struggle with these conditions in any format. Thats my only concern with england, australia was great but this is something different, a truely great side will win in any continent. Hope I'm proved wrong though.
Brainy Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Hmm for me it's: T20 > 50 Over ODI's > Tests. Funny how you never showed your face in the Eng v Ind thread a few weeks ago. Also people slagging off Bopara after one bad innings his series against India was decent.

Also people slagging off Bopara after one bad innings his series against India was decent. what you trying to say - when we play shit I won't comment? So what? Well, I'll admit it now that we played shit. We were terrible apart from the Lords match where we were extremely close to winning. India have played a hell of a lot of cricket in the past 12 months and we were under-prepared for the matches in England this summer. Happy?

The ODI series against India was pretty much the first time he's stepped up to the plate and shown some guts. He's played 65 ODI's and he's never scored a century. If you go back and watch the majority of innings he bottles it big style when the pressure's on; you need someone with a bit of steel at 5/6 because the innings either needs seeing through, or you need someone who's going to accelerate the innings, like Eoin Morgan. Look at his test match mentality and form as well, it fragile to say the least. The only thing I do think he brings to the ODI side is his bowling which is normally tidy, and he a fairly decent fielder. But for me, he simply doesn't have the mental strength or technique to play international cricket at the highest level.

How he is playing ahead of Ian Bell is quite frankly unreal, we can find 2/3 overs from Trott if we have to.

davieG Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 48-3 - 10 overs Cook 0 Kieswetter 0 Trott 34 Pietersen 9 Bopara 0
purpleronnie Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Heading for another big loss, on the plus side I will win a little dosh.
