ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 What happened last season I remember their was a similar scenario look where we ended up and it wasn't the playoffs. Stop stating facts the blue tinters arnt interested!!! They'd prefer to mock up Smaritans posters for us to shove down there throats in three weeks when Sven gets the chop...

ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Stay optimistic though Ok p!ss taking aside and I know we've had a bit of banter this afternoon I would genuinely love to be proved wrong and I honestly would hold my hands up and say I was wrong but we seem to be getting worse, we haven't kept a clean sheet all season and have the most expensive defence, Sven p!sses about with the side/formation/system like its a sunday league team dealing with players during up steaming... Progress from last season is nonexistent and personally I (and many many others) don't feel its good enough considering the outlay... IF and I reiterate the word IF we need to make a managerial change surely it should be done sooner rather than later otherwise ANOTHER season will pass us by...

IF and I reiterate the word IF we need to make a managerial change surely it should be done sooner rather than later otherwise ANOTHER season will pass us by... I would probably say that progress hasn't been made from last season because we didn't have the majority of the players here last season. We've basically got a group of near enough strangers playing together which seems fairly apparent looking at our defence. I'm not sticking up for Sven and saying he's untouchable but I'm not going to start pulling my hair out either. He's made some pretty mystifying tactical changes and substitution choices but he's also put together a good squad of players that just need to start playing as a single entity rather than individuals. I'd rather give Sven a chance to turn it around and work with HIS squad rather than hand it off to someone else whose then going to have to work with a group of players that they haven't chosen and by all accounts players who have chosen to work under Sven, its just taking one step forward and two steps back. We've seen flashes of what our team can do from last season and in some games so far this season, we just need to start being consistent and that doesn't come about by making massive staffing changes.
CupidStunt Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Longer this goes on, the more it reminds me of a Peter Taylor scenario, loads of money spent in a quick fire fashion and Matt Mills at the moment is looking at just as much of a bad buy as you know who. I cant see Sven keeping job unfortunately unless he turns it around quick style The crowd shouting and asking for 4-4-2 at half time at oakwell, and getting it (so i understand) just seems the ice cool sven is feeling the pressure big style, and the Thai's wont be having any of this. I feel for sven, i really do, and i want him to do well, however i am getting more and more bemused in his selections and tactics. Is Schulp injured btw? cant understand why he wasnt on the bench on Saturday Come on Sven, sort it out, or your a goner
CupidStunt Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Why was Neil Danns allowed to take a weeks holiday in Barbados during the international break when he cant even take a good corner. And gallagher went to new york and hes awful , I mean really sven get a grip these players need a bollocking and to be worked hard on the training ground. Not a pat on the back and a weeks holiday ! poor poor management. Didnt he go to a Family Wedding or something?

I do agree with you 21st... But dont forget that it was Svens choice to assemble together a load of strangers. He didn't have to sell Jack Hobbs nor send Wags out on loan. He could be playing Lloyd Dyer or giving Schlupp more of a go. Yes this is a new squad of players but that was the managers decision. Its not sufficient to say simply that we have a bunch of strangers at the club.. This is due to Svens actions. I personally am yet to see anything more in Matt Mills than I saw in Hobbs. I can't see so far that Danns is an improvement over Lloyd Dyer. And King should be in the side. He'd be my first choice on the teamsheet

To a certain degree again I agree I think it takes at least half a season for a manager to impart his way of playing on a side but we've long past that juncture and seem poorer for the money we've spent (obviously comparing Sven last year with Sven this rather than Sven vs Sousa)... Thought so Come on Sven!!!!!.... a win against Briiiiiiiiiiiighton and all will be forgotten from us fickle bastards And a loss???? Just playing Devils advocate

He'd be my first choice on the teamsheet Yeah I know what you mean, the buck stops with Sven but I feel theres something consistency wise not right. Its probably not helped by some of Sven's tinkering but then I also think what else can he do to find the problem. I strongly believe that on paper everyone he's brought in is better than what we had but for some reason that just isn't coming through right now. There was something about the moment in the game yesterday when Mills looked over to the bench and apologised for messing up that makes me think that what Sven wants isn't quite happening on the pitch, but then again it could be nothing and at the end of the day its on his shoulders. I trust him that he's doing the right think with Schlupp because he does have a good history of bleeding younger player from his time at Man City and England. It is a bad situation we're in but I wouldn't say with at Red Alert Sousa just yet, I'm hoping Sven can turn it round because otherwise we're just right back into last seasons cycle and the flashes of good football we've seen makes me think he can but just needs to stop tinkering and settle the team.

I wouldn't say we're past that juncture just yet. We are when it concerns Sven and his time here but not for the team, its almost a totally different team to last season. Don't get me wrong I'm not standing up for Sven and saying he's perfect but I want him to sort it out and think he can based on building on the positives and eradicating the negatives from the football we've played so far. The alternative just seems like such a long way back down the road to last season.

For me the better of two evils is a change sooner rather than later, that Thai's pot of cash isn't never ending and this season has all the hall marks of Peter Taylor's reign... You see this has gone from b1tch fight on the other thread to a full on love in now...

I don't think anyone of us can underline definitively what our problem is at the moment and there is a problem and it could be a number of things. I have a feeling you could be right about the score, I hope you're right. I hope Sven's atleast given time to see how Nugent and Beckford can perform in the same team together, could be good if the right service is provided.
Bausor Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 if we beat brighton, we are only 5 points behind them and considering the start they have had conpaired to ours it`l be alright, MUST WIN.

Beckford isnt a striker that thrives on having to play up top on his own. With Leeds, he fed off Becchio and Vice-Verca All I'm asking for is to go down to the Walkers next Sat and see some structure, some pace and to be entertained. I've always been a big fan of Wellens (as I've made clear on here) but I'm now starting to think he may be the culprit for slowing down the attacks too much.

You see this has gone from b1tch fight on the other thread to a full on love in now... It would just seem a strange choice to hand the team over to someone else at this stage, when they'll potentially be in the same boat of having to impart their influence on a squad of players they haven't chosen, we'd basically be back to square one. By giving Sven the money to buy the new players they've basically invested in him and his vision not only a group of players so it would seem a poor investment to drop him now. A new manager would yes have more time but they wouldn't have their own players and might not be able to adapt their preferential way of playing to this team. I don't know that just how I see it. That'll be Col's calming influence for you

He'd be my first choice on the teamsheet Col, I like the positive slant (for this week) on the future of LCFC as you see it. But for all the forward thinking, sometimes you can't see past the end of your nose whenst future gazing. If Sven has done exactly what you say about bringing a total bunch of strangers together, and it was his choice. This is an undeniable fact. It's great that we can agree on this. Could we also agree that Sven may understand that it is difficult for a player to acclimatise to up sticks, and move to a new club where only half a dozen players have played for the club for a short while know each other, and that time will need to be taken for them personally to get each other, before it becomes demonstrated on the pitch. Thus the extra trips of fun and bondage down rubber dinghy rapids, and elsewhere. Efforts are happening behind the scenes to make this happen. Now I've moved a whole bunch, and I've done and worked for many a company/organisation. It can vary how long you can truly say that you get on with your workmates on a personal level, and then on a professional level where you can work as efficiently and cohesively with targets and deadlines being met with relative ease. Do you think football is different to other industry or do you think footballers are automatons that have no basic emotion. Sure some players will take a shorter time than others, then you add the unrealistic hype the media put on Sven, the players, and the fans, then you have an expectational demand that is higher than probably anything we can dream of, with money at stake, then others will take a longer transitional time to do so. Obviously we'd all like the new team to come together sooner than yesterday, but my feeling is that we wouldn't see the best of them for a couple of months. I'll be judging them as I do know with rationality and objective googles on. I think we need to convey the message clearly that Sven will make mistakes, as using the excuse that he's been here a year and we've not improved. HELLO! We do not have the same team as last year! Personnel has changed, Sven is working with a new team altogether, bar a few. Adding the year argument is not adding weight, but is a desperate attempt to put the blame on something that doesn't exist. There are mistakes that Sven has made. I hope that through a little bit of experimentation that Sven will finally be able to show us what the team is capable of by October time. I'd rather the testing of waters is beneficial further down the line post Christmas. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have a BIG squad that should harmonise, and when the shit hits the fan for other teams expected to be up there or thereabouts at Christmas, will not be able to maintain the forward trajectory and depth of squad that we should on paper be able to do. I have optimism, and will be happy to be proven wrong like some of the doubters have said they will, but when get to the end of the season, I won't be going around saying 'I told you so.' Up the FOXES!
21st Century Fox Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Where's redblueswede we need some of his unwavering confidence and optimism. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
panky and our gang Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 If we beat Brighton it will only delay the inevitable . Sven perhaps has a good footballing brain but his man management / motivational skills fall well short of what is needed to get out of this division. I know it's early days but we are going no where with this team it has that awful smell of the kind desperation that Sousa showed before he got the chop . What on earth did Sven see in Mills to warrant paying 5 million ? for that kind of money you should be getting a player of Prem quality . He clearly is not and never will be . You can't help but wonder where we are going to get enough points even for the play offs . I know there will be enough people saying give them time , wait till they gel ect . As a season ticket holder I have seen enough . I don't need to be a great football buff to see that we are just not going to cut the Mustard with Sven in Charge . End of .
