Happy Fox Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2011/09/04/o-neill-waits-in-wings-as-eriksson-faces-five-game-battle-102039-23394091/ SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON has been given FIVE more games to get Leicester firing – with former Foxes boss Martin O’Neill one of the names in the frame to take over. The club’s wealthy Thai owners, King Power, have splashed the cash over the summer in preparation for a serious tilt at promotion to the Premier League. However, a return of just seven points from a possible 15 at the start of their Championship campaign has left everyone underwhelmed at the East Midlands club. King Power backed Eriksson still further on transfer deadline day. They sanctioned the big-money acquisition of Everton striker Jermaine Beckford, as Eriksson sought to add more firepower to his squad. But now they will pile the pressure on the ex-England manager to climb the table – 10th place is seen as a poor return for all the money invested. Leicester also have some difficult fixtures in the coming month, with home games against table-topping Brighton and local rivals Derby, as well as visits to Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Cardiff. Eriksson will be expected to deliver a minimum 10 points from those outings to convince the club’s hierarchy he has got what it takes to propel them back into the Premier League – either automatically or via the play-offs. If not, then King Power will look elsewhere, with O’Neill the leading candidate – although he is also in the frame for the Sunderland job if things do not pick up under Steve Bruce. The Ulsterman – out of work since quitting Aston Villa just before the start of last season – would be welcomed back by Leicester fans after twice leading them to League Cup glory in 1997 and 2000. They were also beaten finalists in 1999 under O’Neill. Former Southampton and Cardiff manager Dave Jones will also be considered if Eriksson is axed. But the threat to his job has not put the Swede off his stride in the rush to bring in more players. He failed in a last-ditch record £8million bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper – after offering half that figure at the start of the summer. And El-Hadji Diouf is still a target after the controversial striker was shown the door by Blackburn last week. Diouf agreed a six-figure pay-off from Rovers to make himself a free agent.
Wymsey Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Someone has to start up with this nonsense don't they?
Austin Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The most concerning thing about that article is the El Hadji Diouf bit.
Libertine Dream Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Not a single part of that article will be true. The Hooper story is incorrect for definite as is the Diouf story. Nonsense
MC Prussian Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Mr. Hopkinson, are you actually getting paid for fabricating a story out of non-stories? Just as bad as the Mirror.
Steven Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The most concerning thing about that article is the El Hadji Diouf bit. Quite.
davieG Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 He failed in a last-ditch record £8million bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper – after offering half that figure at the start of the summer. Did I miss this amongst all the twitter tosh? Or do they mean Nikica Jelavic? I feel confident the report is accurate
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The most concerning thing about that article is the El Hadji Diouf bit. If we ever get that dirty disgusting little twat at City it will be a sad day for the club...
Tielemans63 Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Relax, that story is 99% bollocks. The only thing he got right is the list of upcoming fixtures. Find some real stories to write about you lazy twat.
somebum Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Why not make it a sensational double swoop of Marlon 'woman beater' King and El Hadji 'spitting pig' Diouf?
dave the caveman Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Looking forward to seeing Neil Danns, Jermaine Beckford and El-Hadji Diouf cruising along Narborough Road in a souped-up Vauxhall Astra, boot shaking to the bass of 'Dannz' latest single, featuring 'Beckz n Diozee', "we da lesta boiz u getz me" Martin O'Neil would collapse in horror on his first day of training with all these pikeys around the place.
One Arm Babba Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 hilarious article. If we got Diouf, i'd boycott the club. Scum.
thybluefox Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The Hooper rumour sums up the amount of shit they've managed to crowbar into 1 article.
Ric Flair Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The horrible thing is, Diouf on the wing would actually benefit us, but it would be like sleeping with the devil.
Jollie Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 As if the Thai's would come out with rubbish like this. The are ulta low-key. If Sven had 5 games to save his job we wouldn't know about it. And why on earth would they let him buy all these players and then sack him...
General Smuts Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The horrible thing is, Diouf on the wing would actually benefit us, but it would be like sleeping with the devil. I wish i hadn't looked at that and thought, he's a massive **** but i'd take him here in a second.
leicesterseddon Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 What a joke. P5 W2 D1 L2 is obviously not quite the start we hoped for, but it's hardly disasterously bad either. None of our so-called promotion rivals have started the season well either (West Ham have made a solid start but have still dropped points).
acooling08 Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Haha Diouf is one of a very few players I'd love to see getting his leg broken. As for the article, it's bullshit. We haven't had the greatest start but we are playing well and are only a win from the play offs.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 The People? Utter bollocks! Took the words from my mouth.
John Matrix Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 bar a complete meltdown. svennis will get till the end of the season
