ozleicester Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Another reasonable result, another point collected at a difficult ground against quality opposition and yet again we read of all the whingers. But, what pi$$es me of most is that EVERY team we play gets referred to as "average" or "poor" or "pedestrian". IMO this is crap, of the teams weve played, a number of them were, predicted to be a force...or are currently a force in this years championship. But our moaning fans dont rate them. So heres your chance, who are the "good" or "competetive" teams this year? Just if you can let me know, so i can adjust my expectations accordingly.

In my opinion the best side going forward I've seen this season is Southampton. Lallana looks a super player and I'm sure Lambert will continue to score goals. I reckon they possibly have the best manager in the division too. Where we are now superior to the Saints is defensively.. they looked poor at the back. However, their prmotion push will be based upon goals scored, not goals conceded.
ozleicester Posted 26 September 2011 Author Posted 26 September 2011 Look at the league table End. Looking at the current top 6... I'll be surprised if anymore than 2 of them are still there come Feb
Fox92 Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 The league table doesn't lie, and whoever are in the top 6 are obviously a good side regardless of whether they stay in that position all season or if they end up getting relegated.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Based on the last five games, I'd argue we've done really rather well. Notts Forest (A) 2-2: At 2-0 up we should have won comfortably, but much of the fact we didn't was down to a genuinely appalling referee who couldn't have been more of a Homer if he'd shaved his head and painted himself yellow. Forest will come good eventually and the City Ground is seldom an easy place to go, in spite of their poor current run of results. Southampton (H) 3-2: Have proved themselves to be an excellent side both before and after the game at the KP. We defeated a very good side there, and we may well look back on that result come May as a crucial one. Barnsley (A) 1-1: Not a great side and a disappointing result and performance, would tend to agree that this was poor. Brighton (H) 1-0: See Southampton. Kept CMS quiet which is more than the majority of teams that have come up against him have managed, and stopped them playing their game. They'll be in or around the play-offs come the end of the season and this was a good result. Cardiff (A): 0-0: Clean sheet against a side with some good players and looked incredibly strong defensively, encouraging from that point of view.
Happy Fox Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 West Ham and Southampton stand out for me, as competitors for automatic promotion, and possibly Middlesborough ( although if you stop Marvin Emnes their main threat they are a playoff side at best) you could say this year about a dozen-15 teams are vying to get into the playoff positions whereas us, West Ham and Southampton are hoping to go up automatically

I think it's a tough league and everone can beat everyone. If we look at last seasons relegated sides they managed to win 11 games each of 46. They won 1in4 and if you put the draws in the equation they managed to stop the oppo from winning in 43% of the matches. Thats only the relegated sides from last season......

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Very Good Teams West Ham Southampton Middlesboro Brighton Quite Good Teams Cardiff F****t Derby Leeds Hull City Blackpool Ipswich Birmingham Portsmouth Burnley Millwall Reading C Palace Gash Teams (although in this division never easy to beat) Barnsley Doncaster Coventry Bristol City Watford Peterborough
LukeyZade Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 What u have to rwmember is were unbeaten away. And in a decentish position Despite leaking goals early on in season now look mills and bamba look rock. Thats sorted. cArdiff away is never easy. We are scoring too Were on the up now get behind our team.
Houdini Logic Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Look at the league table End. ...and then look along at the 'P' column
phildw Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Are you insane? I'm glad someone said it! Quality side my arse they had 10 men for most of the second half and were there for the taking. Most decent teams would have taken them to the cleaners.

topharry123 Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 It's too close to call right now, there's half a dozen sides that could go up automatically and another half dozen at least that could make the play offs. We're getting better i think and will continue to do so now the team are settling in. I expect us to be the only decent team come the end of the season with the league won by March.....
Guest MattP Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Very Good Teams West Ham Southampton Quite Good Teams Leicester Middlesboro Brighton Cardiff F****t Derby Leeds Hull City Blackpool Ipswich Birmingham Portsmouth Burnley Millwall Reading C Palace Gash Teams (although in this division never easy to beat) Barnsley Doncaster Coventry Bristol City Watford Peterborough That's how I would have it at the minute, I think West Ham will win the league, Southampton look excellent and should make top 3, I think we will hit top 6 but struggle to see us in th top 2. Don;t think we will score enough goals.
Number 6 Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Never an easy game in this division. Some of West Ham's results prove that having a great squad doesn't guarantee you anything. Will be a battle to the end.
Corky Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 I'd say West Ham, Southampton and Brighton look quality, Middlesbrough not far behind.
