CupidStunt Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 We did manage to, somehow, re-coup 2.2million for him! As for the Gunnlaugsson shouts how much did we pay for him? £2 mil, he was never the player he was at Bolton
Tielemans63 Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Not necessarily the worst signing we've made but one of the worst deals we've ever been involved in was when we swapped a young, thrusting striker by the name of Paul Kitson for two not so young and not so thrusting strikers in Phil Gee & Ian Ormondroyd. It was a personal tragedy for me as I was 8 and Kits was my first City hero. Add in the fact that we got two Derby bit-part (at best) players in exchange for our brightest prospect and that really was a shocker of a deal.

Tielemans63 Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Well done for finding a pic of him on his feet!
Guest MattP Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 That was a good deal for us! We ended up going up after it, Sticks is still a legend to me.
Master Fox Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Gunlaugsson was always the first to take a penalty in the many shoot-outs we had in 2000 and scored each time. Plus he scored some great goals. I agree. That goal he scored against Villa away in the cup was superb. Arnie! Arnie! Arnie! Ahhh.... the good ol'days
Tielemans63 Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 That was a good deal for us! We ended up going up after it, Sticks is still a legend to me. I'm pretty sure Derby went up before we did. People seem to think Sticks was a good signing so maybe I should dig out the old VHSs and revise my opinion. My opinion of him at the time was that he was a poor replacement for my hero and I was probably inluenced by my grandad who spent the majority of the next three seasons shouting "Ormondroyd, where's your first touch you ****ing useless twat?" When you're 8 and your Grandad says a player is a ****ing useless twat then he's a definitely a ****ing useless twat!
He's not bald Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Has probably been mentioned but not trawling through 3 pages of an obviously "no remotely important recent news thread"... so it has to be Norman Leet (2 left feet)
He's not bald Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 That's the love child of Crouchie and Beeker from the muppets!
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 As a wiseman once said "you are entitled to your wrong opinion." Ormondroyd was a key figure in city's promotion that season. And kitson was basically gay. You got this wrong mate.. Phil Gee not as influential I must admit but 'sticks' could be a real nuisance on his day

bettso Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 yeah at the time when the deal happened i felt like that, in hindsight, Kitson was crap and im glad Ormondryd played for us and he is no way our worst ever signing. How anyone can consider the Droyd as a bad signing is incredible. Scored in 3 successive play off semi finals. G'won the Droyd! Worst signing i've ever seen has to be Jacob Laurson. So slow it was untrue and nobody ever new if he was left or right footed on account of him being absolute dogshit with both. People often slate Ade as the worst signing ever but in the present day, running around loads makes you a passionate hero who loves the club. Plus he scored 10 Premiership goals in a season, which alot of people see these days as a pretty good return. He was still ****ing shit.
funkyrobot Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Ormondroyd was a key figure in city's promotion that season. And kitson was basically gay. You got this wrong mate.. Phil Gee not as influential I must admit but 'sticks' could be a real nuisance on his day Phil gee was definitely the better footballer, he was quite useful and did a good job without scoring that many goals. Awesome mullet. Sticks wasn't a skilful footballer and though he was tall, wasn't actually great in the air. His nuisance factor came from the fact that opposing teams assumed he was top in the air, put two men on him and left the better smaller players free. Both tried hard for the cause and there are worse players that have put the city shirt on! Junior Lewis, Alan rogers and Lee Marshall to name just 3 of a long list!
Petchy Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 In recent years, Ryan McGivern has to be up there.
panky and our gang Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Hang on ! Ormondroyd headed the potential winner against Derby at Wembley only to see their keeper make a good save then see the mighty Walshie prod it in . As opposed to Kitson who did what for us ? Oh yeah he thought he was too big for us and went on to do **** all and no one outside of Leicester would remember him . Give me sticks anytime . He gave me my best day as a Leicester support via Wembley and I will never forget that big gangling frame and the absolute joy of that day. Priceless memories Ian , thanks .

Lambert09 Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Filbert............he is our longest serving player and I dont remember him even making the bench yet...he's got good passion though, always gearing up the fans , nice to see, must be a fox through andd through
vandamman Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Peter Canero - for some reason I expected a lot from him, he delivered nothing.
Tielemans63 Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 I'll accept defeat on this one folks. I was only primary school age so I'll put it down to inexperience! Im sure i remember him spending most of his time losing his balance but I'll respect my elder's opinions.
