Ashley Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Yes, it was a red card but I don't think the ref was interested untill the Birmingham players and crowd protested. Neither did the linesman wave his flag?
Izzet is God Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 It was def a red...but there may be a basis of appeal if the ref has said it was voilent conduct? Some of these can be reduced to 2 games after deliberation...I doubt we'll appeal though = 3 games out
Bangkok Mick Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Unfortunately Millls is an average Championship player. Sven wants the team to pass the ball well, to feet and keep possession. Mills is the worst exponent of this. Several times on Sunday when nothing easy was on Mills simply lumped a long ball upfield. As for being Captain, look at his body language throughout the match. Where is his leadership skills, encouragement, clapping his hands and getting the lads going? A completely irresponsible sending off as well. Compare Mills to another city captain, Steve Walsh... not in the same league.
DB11 Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Yes, it was a red card but I don't think the ref was interested untill the Birmingham players and crowd protested. Neither did the linesman wave his flag? That means nothing the higher up you go. The higher you go, the less you do on the line = you've had a better game by not being 'busy' and therefore you get a better mark = you get the better games.
jprs1976 Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 We'll not appeal, Sven has accepted it was the right decision. Time for SSL to step up. SSL needs to stop moaning about lack of opportunities and take this one and show how good he thinks he is. just as a foot note about Mills..... me and my son just been to the signing session and you guessed it Matt Mills was there and signing autographs.. to me that shows the character he is, yea made a bad mistake but still showing solidarity and taking stick of the fans (no one did, all pleased to see him). But one noticable absentee was Andy King, made his character isn't as strong as our current club captain.

Raj Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 You cant tackle in footy nowadays never mind with both feet in the air. Dont matter if he caught the bloke. Tis all about intent and all that Shite. Defo Red for me.
Father Ted Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Football is a pussy game nowadays. May as well be non contact.
NewburyFox Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Definite red, however I feel that he felt like he had to make the tackle and as a result had to lunge in. Schmeichel was way out of goal and his poor kick bounced off Mills, who obviously would have known that Kasper wasn't in his goal and as a result felt that he had to put in a tackle and the only way to make that tackle was to lunge in. Like I said he had to go, but I do think this may have crossed his mind. Straight back into the team after his ban, in my opinion.

I don't think the ref would of gave anything. He only booked him due to the protest? Seemed that way to me at the game anyway.

Ashley Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 No seriously, he didnt blow his whistle alot of times like refs normally do, I do admitt it was a red card affence yes however it seemed an age for him to produce a card is what im saying normally they come straight out do they not? the players had gatherd around the ref then he produced the red card...

shiv Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Even though it's probably irrelevant I thought we started to play better with 10 men...
jprs1976 Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 andy king was there when we got to them.. he was the first in the line.. just saw the pics on the website and yes it appears he was there, but he certainly wasn't there when we got there, so thought he bottled it because of the penalty. on a sad note my lad has now missed out on his autograph ;-(

Agreed ash
DB11 Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Still though. I don't think the ref would of gave anything. He only booked him due to the protest? Seemed that way to me at the game anyway. I've just watched it on BBC and he's at his back pocket before any Birmingham player is near him. Just because he couldn't quite undo the velcro doesn't mean he was influenced And also for the tackle, I think it is a red card. He is not in control of the tackle, he's endangering the safety of the Birmingham player and he is definitely using excessive force to make the challenge. Just look at the freeze frames.

And then I just read this post and have decided WUM I shouldn't have made the effort in my post above!
whitlock Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Could he of not made the same tackle with only 1 leg? Don't understand the need to use 2 feet there, a normal 1 footed challenge would of resulted in the same outcome minus the red card?
THEFATBASTARD Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 MIlls is a blockhead..how many times have we seen players jump in with both feet and get sent off on TV? he does not deserve to be captain..some people never seem to learn,im afraid he appears to one of them.
Tielemans63 Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Deserved to go - no question. What pisses me off is that the same goes for Beausejour when he cynically took down Pelts on the edge of the area when he'd already been booked. Just a bit of consistency would be nice. However I did feel that fella was out to make a name for himself especially when he kept all the players and fans waiting while he minced onto the pitch. Twat.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 This is why we have 2 decent championship players in every position.
