Peltier - 6.5 - Another good game, defended well and ran down the wing effectively. Bamba - 6.5 - Huge and commanding in the air, everything they hoofed up he won, on the floor he is dreaful, gave it away numerous times in own third, do that in the prem we concede 2-3, reason why he wont make it at the top level. SSL - 7 - Much better tonight. Konch - 6 - Again good defensively, crossing improved tonight.. Johnson - 6 - Did the simple stuff. Fernandes still plays ahead of him for me. Wellens - 7 - Best game for a while. Abe - 7 - Fantastic considering miles he has clocked up last couple of weeks. King - 7 - Good first half, faded a little second half. Nugent - 9 - Tremendous, bright, intelligent, magnificent first touch, great finisher, looks THE guy we actually spent 5million on in the summer. Beckford - 6.5 - Glad to see him get off the mark, can see why so many other fans have been so frustrated with him, almost felt like he had to bust a gut to turn his head and knock it in. Sven 8 - The correct team, bout time Johnson had a run out and Cassell got removed, Darius worked hard but tonight showed even when you dont play to your peak if you have goalscorers up front V poor sides you will be far more efficient in front of goal. how waas johnson a 6? thisis laughable.. he didn't give the ball away once, i honestly think his pass completion was near enough 100%. if you think johnson was a 6 and the rest a 7 then wow.

Don't agree with that totally. He was dreadful on the floor, but I don't see it as a reason he could never make it at the top level. Coloccini at Newcastle was like this when he first signed for them, in fact probably even worse. Used to piss about with the ball all the time, and couldn't even do the basics right. Now he's ironed all that out his game is the lynchpin of one of the strongest defences in the Premier League.

Bamba - 7 - Typical Bamba performance. Bit sloppy second half SSL - 7 - Decent but again bit sloppy second half Konchesky - 6 - Solid Johnson - 7.5 - MOTM calm in possession, never looks flustered. Can run with the ball at his feet too Wellens - 6 - Very good 1st half but terrible in the second Abe - 6 - Good cross for the 2nd goal. Some misplaced passes though King 6.5 - Played his part in some lovely interchanges in the 1st half but again not great 2nd half Nugent - 7 - Ran all night long and cracking take for his goal, very unlucky not to get a second. Beckford - 6 - Pleased for him to get a goal. Some bright spots tonight but also some not so bright! Subs - Fernandes - 6 - Typical Gelson Vassell - 6.5 - Unlucky not to score Dyer - 6 - Didn't really have time to make an impact. All in all a very good first half performance which if we been bothered to continue in the 2nd could of seen us score a few more goals. Managed to see the 2nd half out without conceding which I didn't think was going to be possible from about 70 mins onwards but happy with the 3 points and for fooksake City please build on it with a win Saturday!

Peltier - 6.5 - The system we play requires width from the full backs, too often Peltier the ball infield into the mix rather than trying to get to the line. Bamba - 7 - Too casual at times, but that's Bamba I guess. SSL - 7 - Did what he had to do against very poor opposition. Konchesky - 6.5 - Same as Peltier, he needs to get to the line and provide more crosses. Johnson - 7 - You can see he has huge ability and great vision. Fitness cant be an excuse for him any more. Wellens - 7 - Wellens never lets you down. It wasn't his very best but as usual he was a great asset to the side. Abe - 6 - Good cross for the 2nd goal. Not sure how he plays in front of Fernandes in my opinion. He is not a wide man either. King 6.5 - His problem this season is our narrow formation is making the midfield too congested. Still making the runs. Nugent - 7.5 - He's at the top of his game at the moment. Fast becoming the talisman. Beckford - 6.5 - Took the goal well. Looks lightweight at times. Subs - Cant think of anything to say about them. If it's possible to play bad/average and win we managed it tonight. I think it was a case of you can only beat what's in front of you in the end, but I cant help feeling tonight we could have really put in a commanding performance and scored a few more. Watford are probably the worst team we will see this season, if we repeated that performance again one of the top 10 we'd get a hiding. Here's hoping for better on Saturday.
Simo86 Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Schmeichel- 7.5 (Dealt with the little that was thrown at him, but stayed sharp and alert to make a brilliant save from their one threatening effort) Peltier 7 ( Solid and dependable as usual) Bamba 7 (His goods outweighed his bads, a few sloppy passes but he always seems to redeem himself and get the ball back) St Ledger 6.5 (Still looks a bit nervy, but he swept up well and hopefully last nights game has given him some confidence) Konchesky 7 ( Often isolated on the left but was sollid and always available as an outlet) Johnson 8 (Class act, especially first half. I don't think he gave the ball away once and he always looks to go forward) Abe 7 (Does the simple stuff right and showed some quality that we've been lacking with deliveries for Beckford's early chance and goal. Him and Peltier seem to work very well together going forward and defending) Wellens 6.5 (Wasn't at his best tonight. Got caught in possession a few times and he goes down far too easily for my liking. It was nice to see him looking for the simple balls rather than the spectacular tonight though) King 6 (Doesn't get involved enough for me. He oftens just wanders round the pitch in no mans land. He made some good runs and could have scored late on. Always a threat though, even when he goes missing in general play) Nugent 8 (Willing runner and an excellent finish for his goal. I saw some sparks between him and Beckford and hopefully given a few games together they will become a prolific partnership) Beckford 6.5 (Took his goal well, but missed a sitter early on. Held the ball up well at times to start attacks, but was let down by his first touch on a few occassions) Subs Fernandes 6.5 (The energy he brings to the midfield is fantastic, sometimes his distribution was a bit erratic, but he was the perfect player to bring on to liven up the midfield0 Vassell 6 (Didn't do a great deal and gave the ball away a few times, probably not on long enough to get properly involved) Dyer N/A (Not on long enough)

He also seemed to keep the defence organised.) Peltier - 7.5 (got up and down the wing well, defensively solid and combined well with Abe, especially in the first half.) Bamba - 7 (I didn't think he looked as comfortable last night, whether that was because he wasn't with Mills or he was just having an off day. Still good though, just not the brilliance we're used to.) St Ledger - 6.5 (still not convinced, did better than last time though.) Konchesky - 7.5 (got forward well, maybe a bit slow but the final ball was better. Defensively looked a bit shaky.) Johnson - 9 (class. Great distribution and had an excellent game all round. MOTM) Abe - 8 (brilliant in the first half, really good delivery for Beckfords goal. Looked understandably tired in the second half.) Wellens - 7.5 (best I've seen him play for a while. Was looking forward more rather than sideways and got stuck in with some good tackles.) King - 7 (ok. Some neat passing but nothing spectacular.) Nugent - 8 (took his goal very well, could have easily had another if it wasn't for an outstanding save from Loach. Worked very hard as usual. Close to MOTM but Johnson just beat him to it.) Beckford - 5 (glad he got his goal but overall the performance was poor. Complains all the time and plays selfishly. If he'd chosen to pass rather than try and score from impossible positions we could have had a couple more.)

No impressive passes or shots. So I take it you didnt see the pinpoint pass he made through the whole watford team to Beckford from just in front of the halfway line? And him rinse 2 players in the box creating 3 yards of space and back heel to Wellens who didnt WTF to do with it? It was easy to see how this lad was touted as englands next big thing and a class above everyone on the pitch (and thats not saying Nugent or the rest of the team didnt play well and show class)

Can't help him being the only natural left-footer in the first 11) Abe- 6 (Lovely cross for Beckford) Johnson- 7 (Looks good) Wellens- 6.5 (Decent effort) King- 6 (Nearly had a great goal) Beckford- 6 (Scored, struggled in the main, fitness can't be helped by the kicking he gets) Nugent- 8 (Superb. Energy, commitment and quality)

Being sensible and controlled in possession is just as valuable. How many times did Johnson give the ball away? He had a few players around him at one point yet didn't panic and found a team-mate.
