Aus Fox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Are you sure thats the Chelsea mascot I thought it was Frank Lampard?
AdamN Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Newcastle have the inevitable Magpie mascot... No imagination means League one for me. Surely Newcastle having a magpie is no different to us having a fox? Not that I think that should alter the standings, seeing as that magpie looks shit and Filbert is the don.

THEfox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Prem quality on sympathy vote A football club mascot was left flapping – after being attacked by one of his own fans. Chaddy the Owl was punched in the face by a fellow Oldham Athletic supporter before the club’s clash with Preston North End. The 7ft bird was posing with a young fan for a picture in the concourse of the away end at Preston’s Deepdale stadium before kick off on Tuesday night when, without warning, a thug walked over and hit him before calmly walking to the bar. Oldham club bosses have launched an investigation and have asked Preston for CCTV footage in a bid to trace the offender. But the man behind the mask, 37-year-old Wayne Hurst, does not want to see the culprit hauled before the beak. He said: "I don’t even want him banned because we need as many fans as we can get. "I just want an explanation and an apology." The drama unfolded before the League One Lancashire rivals fought out a 3-3 draw. Wayne, from Watersheddings, said: "At away games I often go into the stands and mix with the fans and have pictures taken with some of the kids. "I was posing for one when out of the corner of my eye I saw this guy coming towards me. I didn’t recognise him and he hit me. He then just walked off to a group of mates and went to the bar. "There were stewards there but I don’t know if they saw it. The stand was packed though so there were a lot of witnesses. "I was all right but the kid I was with was a bit shocked." Wayne quickly dusted himself down and took flight. He said: "The head took the full force of it and I wasn’t hurt but I had a bit of a headache for the rest of the night. "I went out and had a bit of banter with the Preston fans who were great. I didn’t expect this from one of our own." Wayne says the attack will not stop him continuing in his role. But he added: "It has made me think twice about going to away games though." Oldham chief executive Alan Hardy said the club were looking to identify the offender. He said: "We’ve asked Preston for footage and would urge anyone who knows who he is to come forward." It is not the first time Chaddy has been in the wars. In 2009 we reported how he ended up in hospital after falling off a bike in a pre-match stunt at Carlisle. To the delight of the away fans Chaddy had been pulling wheelies on the BMX before falling off and rupturing ankle ligaments. Anyone with information should contact the club on 0161 624 4972.
