Father Ted Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Merc Darius Vassell and Lloyd Dyer are major injury doubts for Leicester City's trip to face Burnley tonight. The attacking duo have undergone scans on a leg injury and groin injury respectively after limping off during City's 3-2 defeat at West Ham United on Saturday. Coach Mike Stowell, who is in temporary charge for tonight's game at Turf Moor with academy manager Jon Rudkin, said it was unlikely the duo would be ready to face the Clarets. But City will be boosted by the return of captain Matt Mills after his three-game suspension, and Paul Gallagher could also start. "It's not looking too clever for Darius, he landed on a straight leg and had to come off," said Stowell. "We had to make a change and then Lloyd had to come off too with his groin, so the game was throwing all kinds of things at us. "It was very disappointing, especially Lloydy's, who had not been on long but had already given us extra pace and then got hurt in a challenge. "We've got a few sore heads and a few aching bodies, but the second-half performance was excellent at West Ham and we are ready for Burnley." Steve Howard is again likely to start on the substitute's bench. He made a significant impact after replacing Jermaine Beckford in the second half, and Stowell described the 35-year-old as City's 'Plan B'. "It showed we had options," said Stowell. "We haven't had a Plan B for a while and Stevie coming on was ours. I thought he was awesome. "He is so glad to be involved and it is great for us to feed off the big man. That's how it should be sometimes, and there is nothing wrong with going direct. "Jermaine is a bit frustrated and he is only really happy when he is scoring. His record speaks for itself and he will get goals." Give Stowell the job! I'm quietly confident about tonight - I reckon we'll do them, 1-0.
davieG Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Give Stowell the job! I'm quietly confident about tonight - I reckon we'll do them, 1-0. What after that 1st half performance against WHU!
Corky Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 So it seems Dyer isn't going to be fit, I'd put Schlupp in.
Father Ted Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 What after that 1st half performance against WHU! It wasn't even that bad apart from their two goals! We actually looked like scoring throughout and really went for it. We need a manager with bollocks and Stowell is showing that at the minute. Sven would not have got the response we had 2nd half. He mentioned in that interview about Plan B - hallelujah!! Sven was clueless.

Simmo86 Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 sorry but that is not the case . We didnt muster a single shot or goal attempt and barely managed to string 2 passes together. Green's save from Beckford, Bamba's volley just wide and Vassell's shot cleared off the line are just 3 I can think of. Don't know what game you were watching. First 25 mins we were terrible but after that we improved.
Thracian Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 this is my absolute least favourite fixture. I used to hate going Oldham in the past but its still Burnley for me - dogshite Football-wise it's mine too. Three times I've been up there in recent years and the football has been worse than diabolical. I think we won one of the games with our only shot - a mad scramble about five yards from the goalline. In all three games put together - and over 1,000 miles all told - I don't think we managed a handful of shots. You'd have thought Burnley were Barcelona the way we set up and the little ambition we showed. And even then I give thanks for missing the day Holloway shamed our club by turning us out with about eight defenders and tried to lull the opposition and our fans to sleep. Last time out Wellens looked like the only player trying and rated MoM on my card with a performance that ranked about 6 so, like a lot of away games, it holds no attraction for me now. I'd rather watch sheep grazing. Sad really cos Burnley, in the 60s days of Jimmy McIlroy, John Connelly, Adam Blacklaw etc, were one of the most exciting teams we played. Since then it's been like a creeping paralysis in terms of entertainment...duller than the drizzle falling on the nearby Pennines. If we manage three shots even 0-0 would seem like an achievement!

Father Ted Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 sorry but that is not the case . We didnt muster a single shot or goal attempt and barely managed to string 2 passes together. I echo what the post below yours said. Also, there were several dangerous low crosses that just never had anybody on the end of them. We were a constant threat! It was clear to see that Stowell and Rudkin told them to go out there, attack and go for it. Lets be honest we had nothing to lose. Vassell was actually running at players and so was Dyer. The transition from defence to attack was much quicker than under Sven and you can only assume that Sven advised his players to slow things down and slowly build play up. Massive fair play to Stowell and Rudkin on Saturday, they set up with the intention of us outscoring West Ham instead of hoping to outdefend West Ham as we often did with Sven. The only thing that let us down on Saturday was 3 defensive errors - I mean really poor defending, for the first goal Bamba let Carew get away and Peltier dealt poorly with the incoming ball, for the second goal, it all stemmed from Konchesky ducking out of a header and the third goal was a real poor attempt at a header from St.Ledger. I have no doubt that with no defensive errors tonight, we should run out winners.
Chazwaz Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 I'm going for a 2-0 win with goals from Nugent and King!
Swalker Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Normal 4-4-2 (no diamond) Kasper Peltier Mills © Bamba Berner Danns Fernandes king Gally Nugent Schlupp Subs: Weale Konchesky SSL Wellens Howard
topharry123 Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Bollocks after sitting here for the last 10 minutes trying to figure out why foxes player isn't working i've just realized that the clocks in the UK changed and in Texas they haven't yet meaning that the game kicks off an hour later here......3-1 win to city, Beckford to come out with the performance of his life and grab a hat trick (wishful thinking i know !!)
Simmo86 Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 @officialfoxes team to play Burnley. Schmeichel, Peltier, Mills, Bamba, Konchesky, Danns, King, Wellens, Gallagher, Howard, Nugent. Please to see Danns get a game. Needs to pull his finger out now and show us what he can do. One thing about that team, NO PACE!
blueredswed Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 I´m a Sven Lover how surprising but still think we are gonna get up..... This match Burnley with Sven in 4-0 to us but now 1-0 hoping not for any defeat with 0-1 ...... :scarf:
Father Ted Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 sorry but that is not the case . We didnt muster a single shot or goal attempt and barely managed to string 2 passes together. 5 away goals in 2 matches... Svens record in league: 4 in 6 says it all.
