I appreciate what he did for Leicester City, but if he has this attitude of never returning (which is ok to me) then it will obviously never happen. He was waiting for this to happen, the Sunderland job to come up - He supports them, so I guess it is his dream job. I wish Martin O'Neill and Sunderland the best of luck, I hope and would think the Sunderland fans are happy with Martin, but overall I am just pleased to see Martin O'Neill back in the game of football, it isn't the same without him.

Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 It was the home match against Sheffield United and it was a lot more than 700 that were signing "F**k off Martin O'Neill", although weirdly i've never met anyone who admitted it. I was there, and I think the 700 or so were the ones that stayed behind and ended up having a meeting or something with representatives of LCFC. I will admit I booed, but I never sang "F**k off Martin O'Neill" and I don't remember anyone singing that but it was a while ago now, 16 years At the time my anger was directed at the board who had let, what I thought at the time, a very good manager leave for a club lower in the league due to lack of ambition and financial support and replaced him with an unknown and we had dropped from 1st to about 10th very quickly But you're dead right in that he doesn't have any affection for our club or our fans, why would he? Lets's face it LCFC was as good for him as he was for LCFC. It was a working relationship that worked very well for both parties. I disagree and I think he has a lot of affection for this club and if it was purely business arrangement he would have left us much sooner, he had plenty of job offers while he was our manager. I don't blame him for not wanting to come back, after all what could he achieve this time that he didn't' before? We're never going to be Champions League. And he doesn't owe it to us to publicly state whether he wants the job or not, I can't think of any reason why he would or even should do this. Agree with this, I also think the owners asked him to keep quiet about any talks, and he rightly respected that. I wish him all the best at Sunderland.

He has never really set the prem alight despite Villa being a massive club and over achieved with us.Personally I think his best days are behind him.

I dont think he has any more affection for us than the majority of our ex-managers have. He had plenty of job offers when with us - true but as I remember it the board denied him speaking to them rather than him turning them down (I remember a rumour of him wanting to speak to Leeds for example). When Celtic came knocking it was a big club too far, and he even came out with something like he'd walk over broken glass to go and manage them - charming.... I'd like to see some examples of him talking fondly of his time at Leicester - Ive not seen many / any Seems as though both MON and Hughes were waiting for the Sunderland job and should not have been realisticly linked to us

I really now believe Pearson is the man for Leicester he has shown his loyalty and come back despite Hull being above us (sure his new contract helped too) Still have massive respect for MON but now I would love it if we got promoted under Pearson and smash his Sunderland team, love it.

Pearson is a manager for the 2,0and teens (however the years 2012-2019 will be described) MON will spend his time trying to replicate what he did in the mid 1990's.(Celtic probably doesnt count!) NP and his team are good and shrewd judges of players and motivators and will soon be winning the cups and titles they deserve. So no big loss to us in my book

In Pearson we have a manager who is still young and still with things to prove, despite his impeccable track record to date. He has the motivation, enthusiasm and understanding to guide the Foxes back to the Premiership and, unlike O'Neill, has not been working outside of the division for over a decade. In Nigel We Trust. Having said that i think we should all respect what MON acheived with us years ago and wish him all the best at his boyhood favourite club whilst wanting our own super Foxes get in the Premier League as soon as possible. He likes them, he can't 'support' Sunderland and Celtic. Sky can't tell the difference of course. I know he was never going to come back here but I'm jealous he's gone to them. They will do well now. Also I don't think we even asked him which is a shame. I'd rather him say no than us not offer.
